Love Rock Bottom, but last night may make me rethink coming back. Friends and I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes prior to our 5:45pm reservation. The restaurant was less than 30% full on our arrival. We were greatly promptly and seated by a friendly hostess. We were quickly greeted by our server, ordered drinks, received them and then placed our food order...all of that took maybe 10 minutes but that is where things came to a screeching halt for the evening. Our table ordered 1 salad and 3 appetizers, after a 45 minute wait and only one return visit for refills from the waitress, we received the salad and 2 appetizers. She stated the kitchen was having a problem and our chicken nachos would be out soon. Mind you this is the first we had heard there was a problem in the kitchen, no status report during the 45 min wait. You could tell the food had been sitting but we were hungry and we had a 7:30 show time to make so we proceeded to eat. It took another 15 minutes to get the nachos and they arrived cold, so we went ahead and asked for our checks fearing we would not see our waitress again......other than the one drink refill early on in our meal there was never an offer of beverage refill. Upon paying my check I asked for a cup of coffee to go. Waited 10 minutes, no coffee, no waitress, no communication......we left. We spent 1:25 in the restaurant and saw our waitress a total of 4 times. Had one round of refills and was never checked on and given a status on food as we waited. As we left the manager was speaking to the table next to us who seemed to have the same fate as us with the timing of their meal, food quality and service quality. Rock Bottom, get it together, you have been a favorite stop of mine for years, but more evenings like this and I won't return.
Had cheeseburgers and split a HUGE piece of carrot cake before our Broadway show at The Aronoff. Delicious.
Service was slow, although our server was nice. Delicious drinks and food. Would definitely visit again and recommend.
My parents and I celebrated their 40th anniversary with a matinee at one of the prevalent theatres downtown then dinner. I made reservations online with the Rock Bottom website with ease. There was a lovely option to have text messages for reminders as well which I enjoyed. There were zero problems during our visit even with the special requests we gave our very attentive server. The food and beer was amazing as well as the selection offered!
Overall a great place for celebrations or a fun night out.
We were seated right away with our reservation and the server was very attentive to taking our drink order and food order. Then it went downhill. We waited over 40 minutes for our meal. "The kitchen was backed up". The manager came to apologize to us for the delay and bought us a round of drinks and the waiter took 40% off our bill which was nice. However, we barely made it to the play.
The food was very good.
I have been to the restaurant a few times in the last month and everytime the service has been slow. This last time it took 20 minutes after being seated to get a beer from the bar and 45 minutes until we had our food. This was in a Sunday afternoon. I am very disappointed because I really enjoy the food and beer here.
I will start with the positive: the food was excellent! Prices are quite reasonable, and there is a nice variety of menu items. The negative: We weren't seated until 40 minutes after our reservation time. We had a group of 8, and they had a designated table for us, but when the group occupying that table before us didn't leave when expected we were not offered a different table. Other groups were seated before us but we had to wait. Didn't make much sense to us. The manager discounted our bill, so we were satisfied with that, and truthfully, we will return to Rock Bottom because the food was so good.
Good food, kid friendly
Open Table reservations were fabulous. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Others without reservations were waiting 20 min.
Food was wonderful and priced decently!
Service was not so good. Waitress was not around enough to tend to her customers. I’m glad we allowed ourselves plenty of time.
We had a party of 9, we were there to eat before the show at the Aronoff. The server was outstanding and the food was very good. We had a great time!
Service was just okay. Felt like we were in the way at the end of lunch. Salads for lunch are expensive. $12-$13
This is mine and my husbands favorite place to eat. The food is great!
We went for my birthday dinner and did have reservations at 4:00 for 5 of us. When we arrived it was almost like the hostess didn't want to seat us. She said there were tables free in the bar. Well there were free tables but they were dirty. We sat at one that only had an empty beer mug and dirty napkin.
When the waitress took our order and I found they carried Pepsi products, which I can't drink, I asked for iced tea, only to be told they were out of tea. I asked the waitress when some would be made and She replied "We're out of tea."
I ordered the ribeye steak, which was nice and tender but mostly charcoaled on the outside. I didn't send it back because our waitress was so slow I figured everyone else would be done with their meals by the time I got mine.
To be fair, my daughter got the stuffed pablano peppers, my son got the special Mac and cheese and my husband got a burger. All if them said their food was great. My grandson ate his apples and carrots and fries off his kids meal, we took his burger home because he wouldn't eat it there.
Would I go to Rock Bottom again? A resounding No!
Would I recommend it? No.
Food was excellent and service was great. we cohere before our shows at the Aronoff so the location is great for that.
We were very disappointed in our service. Got drinks that we did not order. Food took forever and late for a show. Made reservations and received a confirmation but hostess could not find our reservation. Won’t go back for awhile
Not impressed at all. Chicken was overcooked. Silverware they gave us was filthy. Restaurant seemed a little dirty. Getting the check took forever. I would not go back.
Took almost a hour and a half just to get two burgers. Good food, but not worth the time.
Very slow service. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time and took 40 minutes to receive food.
Reservation was for 6:15 but they took 30 minutes longer in seating. Then food took a long time to arrive resulting in being rushed in order to make theatre at 8pm. Very disappointing.
Disappointed in the service, food took awhile to arrive. Had limited contact with the server, asked for an additional water, never brought, said "Sorry about that"
Our waitress, Alison, was great as was the beer. But the food was uninspiring and it too over 40 minutes to receive our dinner order. Maybe an off night but won’t be back Amy time soon.
We did not receive our food until 40 minutes after ordering. Our server did not check on us at all during that time. We had to loudly flag him down to ask for more tea and to have him check on our meals as we had tickets to an 8pm show and it was now 7:25. After getting his attention he brought someone from the kitchen over to talk with us. That person apologized for our wait and checked on our food. Our food was out within 5 minutes of checking. Food was warm but not piping hot. Quality and size were okay. I would not recommend this restaurant , especially if you have to be somewhere at a certain time.
Love the beer, the food, and the bar atmosphere! Come here before the shows and love it!
The selection of food items is small. The appetizer portions are generous but, the entree's are pricey for the portion size. The beer was good and reasonably priced. Overall the food and beverages were good but not great.
The noise level was "quiet" but, I was there early Sunday evening and everything seems to shutdown in Cincinatti on Sunday. I would guess that it gets much busier and louder during the week.
The service was adequate but not exceptional. Our server was friendly enough but, forgot an ordered side and brought the wrong size beverage.
Rock Bottom is good for a group, family or grabbing a quick bite but, there are lots of other places that are just as good.
Poor service despite not being busy. Seemed like we were just looking for our waitress half the meal. 2 hours to eat and leave. Do not go if you are in a rush.
Service is slow. Server was very tired and not too friendly.
I believe our server was new. The drinks weren't right and when we said something he told us it was what we ordered. When the bill came it was clearly NOT what we ordered. The soup didn't come out first, the chicken fingers were overcooked, stringy, the avocado chicken sandwich came with NO avocado. It took quite a while to be served and then the server just complained about the new tablets. I did see other servers not using the tablets, but using a pad. Very disappointing because we usually have great food and service at Rock Bottom.
Always a great place for a casual pub meal, but nothing spectacular about it. Wish they’d put the chili back on the menu. Service is always professional and friendly.
This was our second time dining here. The first time was really good. This past time not the same. There was a horrible smell throughout the restaurant. We were a party of 6 and the kids meal was way to small, the pasta was in a tiny bowl. The service with our waitress was good. We would return for cocktails but that might be the extent of our visits.
Fried chicken app was excellent!
Good experience for family dinner before a show. Food was very good and cam out in a timely manner. Waitress was friendly, and checked in on us from time to time but did not rush us.
Good food and good drinks. The waitress moved our meal and payment along quickly so me could make the show.
Although our waiter was good, he was so busy that it took a while to get his attention for refills and even to order. The fire alarm went off and was very loud and took way to long to shut off. No one really explained what happened
Delicious street tacos
Great dining location before or after a show at the Aronoff Center.
My wife & son wen't down for dinner before the Waitress Show and had dinner & beer. My wife ordered the Jalapeno pretzels, unfortunately when they came out they had changed it to pretzels from their owners that were terrible. Without us making a complaint Steve, the manager was coming to inform me that they put onions on my pizza, I had asked to omit the onions, and was remaking it, we also informed him of the pretzels and toke them off the bill and toke a few of our drinks off. The pizza came out with everyone's food and everything was good.
Great downtown, Fountain Square location; good brew-pub beer options, varied menu; had a great burger, choice of 2sizes, choice of sides; friendly, attentive greeters, wait staff, and visible managets.
From the time we walked in the door, I had a feeling it was going to be a poor experience. Once we were sat, our server did not stop by the table for 10 mins to take drink orders. Even then, once he stopped he was rude and impatient. He didn't seem to be having a bad day. His mood seemed to be normal for him and that was the troubling part. Normally, you can tell and you cut them some slack. In this instance it seemed like that is the way it always is for him and his co-workers. They mistreat their customers and still receive 20% tip so they continue the same behavior. Somebody assisting him was a jerk as well. Slamming water glasses on the table and rolling his eyes. We were there to celebrate my mom's birthday and the service provided by this restaurant left a lot to be desired. We were sat without silverware. Our appetizer was delivered without app plates. We had to request these simple items. Our drinks were slowly refilled and he would bring back the children's cups uncovered and ask the kids to put the lids back on. That's just asking for trouble. Everyone's food came out and 2 of the 8 plates had to be sent back because they were served cold. I'm not embellishing, but one of them was mine and it was served not warm, not cool, not room temperature, but cold! Also, the restrooms were disgusting and looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in days. My sister-in-law complained about how dirty the bathroom was for her and her children. Needless to say my family will never be back. As soon as we stepped outside we all felt the same way and we were severely disappointed.
On a completely separate note: We witnessed a woman fall from the dining area down to the entrance level (1-2 steps). She must have not seen the step down and can easily happen if you're not familiar with the place or socializing with friends. Not one representative from Rock Bottom came to her aid to assist her. Many employees saw the instance, but ignored any action.
Great burger and hot crisp fries just the way I like them. We arrived on time and our request for a booth was ready.
We arrived and it wasn't very crowded at all, it seemed to take longer than expected to get our food, but I guess it's because there were 10 of us. I saw people who came in well after us had their food way before we got ours. But overall everything was great.
