From the time we walked in the door, I had a feeling it was going to be a poor experience. Once we were sat, our server did not stop by the table for 10 mins to take drink orders. Even then, once he stopped he was rude and impatient. He didn't seem to be having a bad day. His mood seemed to be normal for him and that was the troubling part. Normally, you can tell and you cut them some slack. In this instance it seemed like that is the way it always is for him and his co-workers. They mistreat their customers and still receive 20% tip so they continue the same behavior. Somebody assisting him was a jerk as well. Slamming water glasses on the table and rolling his eyes. We were there to celebrate my mom's birthday and the service provided by this restaurant left a lot to be desired. We were sat without silverware. Our appetizer was delivered without app plates. We had to request these simple items. Our drinks were slowly refilled and he would bring back the children's cups uncovered and ask the kids to put the lids back on. That's just asking for trouble. Everyone's food came out and 2 of the 8 plates had to be sent back because they were served cold. I'm not embellishing, but one of them was mine and it was served not warm, not cool, not room temperature, but cold! Also, the restrooms were disgusting and looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in days. My sister-in-law complained about how dirty the bathroom was for her and her children. Needless to say my family will never be back. As soon as we stepped outside we all felt the same way and we were severely disappointed.
On a completely separate note: We witnessed a woman fall from the dining area down to the entrance level (1-2 steps). She must have not seen the step down and can easily happen if you're not familiar with the place or socializing with friends. Not one representative from Rock Bottom came to her aid to assist her. Many employees saw the instance, but ignored any action.
We arrived and it wasn't very crowded at all, it seemed to take longer than expected to get our food, but I guess it's because there were 10 of us. I saw people who came in well after us had their food way before we got ours. But overall everything was great.
Waited 15 mins for anyone to take our drink orders finally the manager walked by and noticed we didn’t have anything on our table and went and got our drinks. After ordering a sirloin and the waitress didn’t ask how we wanted our steaks they came out just short of ‘mooing’ we sent them back to be cooked a bit more. While that was cooking we eat our sides the Mac and cheese was bland and lacked flavor. The mash potatoes were good however. The waitress came back out with our food and brought us ribeyes since aplenty they ran out of sirloin. The rib-eye (while cooked medium) had no flavor and was tough. We barely eat them. She noticed when she came to bus the table and asked if we didn’t like it I was honest and told her about it. She said she would ask the manager to come over I handed her my credit card and said it was okay we just wanted to leave. The manager did come over and offered 40% when I got the receipt the 40% was applied to the one item however our soft drinks ($2.99 each) were on there 4 times... we both got refills I’m not sure if they charge per refill or what crazy!!! I was over the dinner and we just left without waiting 10 more mins for our waitress to come back. While we have eaten here many times this was for sure a new “experience” and the weather was bad so maybe people called off and they were under staffed?? I don’t know. We’ll wait a few more months and try it again.
This is a favorite date spot for us and we go probably 10 times a year. Unfortunately THIS night there was a trivia game going on in the bar and they put extra speakers in the dining area. It was so loud that my husband and I couldn’t hear each other speak. We spoke to the manager and he graciously comped our meal but it would have been nice to know it was trivia night when we made the reservation
We had a reservation and were seated right on time. One of us needed to send back the salmon as it was way too rare for her liking. Second time around it was perfect and enjoyed.
We always choose Rock Bottom during the holiday season as our guests stay downtown during that time.
I took the team to a holiday lunch. I was afraid the restaurant would be overwhelmed and at first it started out that way. It was well over 5 minutes after we were seated before anyone acknowledged us. However a great waiter came to the rescue and did a fantastic job despite having several large tables. Food was good and everyone was happy. Good job RB
The restaurant was crowded as we expected. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The service was a bit slow. The kids Mac and cheese was cold and Kraft box quality which was disappointing since the adult Mac and cheese was excellent. We were seated near the bar area and it was very unsealing to have families without reservations stalking tables while we waited for and ate our meal. We have eaten here before with a much nicer outcome.
We had reservations for dinner on a very busy holiday Saturday evening; due to my mistake we showed up an hour early but they were very nice and were able to seat us almost immediately. Our server was very friendly and attentive, a little inexperienced when it came to bar drinks but corrected his mistakes quickly, and checked on us just the right amount. Even though they were very busy we did not feel rushed. The food was excellent, different variations and not just the same things you get everywhere, and the portions were very generous. Right on Fountain Square and less than two blocks from the theater, it's a great location for anything going on downtown.
We arrived early for our reservation and were told they couldn't check us in and to come back. When it was closer to our reservation time (within 15 min) I had to stand in a line that was out the revolving doors to check in. I was told they wouldn't have my table available until the time of the reservation. All I wanted to do was check in so I didn't need to get back into the line, not be seated. Our server was extremely pleasant but she was everywhere at once. I had to ask another server if I could get some sweetener for my tea after I waited a while for our server to bring it. I ordered the nachos for my dinner. The cheese was hard and the beef I added for an additional charge was burned. I took over half of it home to give to the dog so it wouldn't be wasted. We eat at this location at least once a month and the last two times haven't been the best but we keep trying.
I always enjoy Rockbottom for large gatherings, especially since I can make reservations. This was to celebrate my 40th Birthday with a few loved ones. We had a party of 7 and at first they tried to seat us in a larger booth. We're adults, big people. There's no way we could have fit comfortably. So we asked for somewhere else. We were moved to a table for 6 and they put a chair on the end. It was acceptable but still tighter. Our server was very sweet and accommodating. She allowed for us to take our time with appetizers before ordering dinner. She refilled drinks quickly and offered me a complimentary dessert of my choice.
Once again, we enjoyed Rockbottom's relaxed, sports bar atmosphere & thought the food was tasty. However; our server seemed annoyed & disinterested ... perhaps because she was working 2 days after Thanksgiving on a Sat eve? We've had dinner @ Rockbottom several times & will probably go there again, but mostly because of its convenient location on Fountain Square in Downtown Cincinnati.
Had a reservation and were quickly seated. Every table had an unsightly, sticky residue on it that should have and could have been cleaned off before the restaurant opened for business. The waitress told us it was left over from some beer flight promotion sticker that used to be on all the tables. Food was okay but I would not go back to this restaurant.
I was very disappointed. I made reservations three days in advance for a table for my grandchildren to see the lighting of the Christmas Tree on the square. My husband uses a walker and I knew he would need a place to sit while I was outside with the kids. There were no tables available for a significant amount of time because they chose to sit people who were walk-ins. Finally...when our table was ready...it was too late.
This is very poor planning on the management staff of this restaurant. I will not make this mistake again..
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We were seated right away, server was friendly but took a while to get to us. Ordered drinks and appetizers, took about 20-30 minutes to get an order of fried pickles. Pickles were delicious but everything went down hill from there. We each ordered steaks, medium. Steaks took about an hour to show up after we ordered and they were both pretty much raw. Manager came over and we sent them back... steaks returned about 20 minutes later and were still raw and mashed potatoes were completely cold. Ended up sending everything back and leaving. They claimed it was because they were “so busy” even though there were plenty of empty tables on a Saturday night. Won’t be returning.
We visited on Veterans day Sunday. WOW, you went all out. Free food for veterans, no mater the item, no matter the price.
Your waitress was absolutely amazing. Very engaging and extremely helpful. Absolutely one of the best in the city, and I live downtown.
