We absolutely love the food! The service is iffy at best. The management is very poor! We've been coming for a long time and always treated with little regard. On this last visit, we had bugs crawling on our table and and a person at the table! Unacceptable. Management was notified and did nothing. We have been to this establishment multiple times with friends and clients and have always been let down. No more!
We've eaten here many times, but this dinner was not up to their standards. The server brought five meals out for our table of six and then asked if there was anything else she could bring. We said she could bring our friend's dinner. She looked at him and asked, "Now what did you order sir?"
Not their best effort, but we'll go back and try it again.
I went to Oakland University as an undergrad and had visited a number or restaurants in downtown Rochester. This was my first visit to Rochester Bistro. The atmosphere is one that suggests intimacy more consistent with groups of two. No more than four. Service was exceptional. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive. The bartender knew her craft well. We began with the grilled octopus. It was tender with a little char on the outside. Perfectly prepared. I had the scallops for the entree. Again, very well prepared. When in Rochester I intend on visiting the Rochester Bistro again.
Favorite restaurant in downtown Rochester. Quality food and great service! Highly recommend!
We find the food at Rochester Bistro consistently very good. We also enjoy the option of ordering small plates which allows us to enjoy different types of food in a meal.
Our service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly wait staff.
Great experience! Server was awesome, live music bonus, drinks and overall fabulous!
Birthday - great service. Excellent food. Wonderful town
Very nice! Great for a date night or couples night!!!
Food was excellent! Service was outstanding! Great atmosphere!
This was the second time we dined here with our best couple friends. Only a couple tables on a Sunday evening - the other table was quite loud so we sat in the bar which was very cozy with large TV's playing football games. Nice waitress a little undertrained-she said there were short ribs on special but didn't know anything else about them. She came back a little later and said they were braised so didn't sound very inspiring. We ordered the new York strip, the salmon, the veal chop and the lemon chicken - all were excellent including the Italian wedding soup and house salad. Everything was fresh tasting, creatively prepared and nicely presented. Will definitely be back.
This was my first time to the Rochester Bistro and I couldn't be happier. The food, wine and service exceeded expectations. We ate earlier than a typical dinner time yet the restaurant had many seats available so there was no wait. Don't hesitate to give it a try.
Well done. Top notch food, good menu, prices are reasonable and atmosphere was good.
Delicious food, polite staff, nice environment! We sampled several apps and main dishes and enjoyed everything.
Food and service was really good. Great bar too. It was a quite Sunday night but I am sure this place gets busy on prime nights
The atmosphere was quiet and homey. Our service was excellent. The food was delicious and the menu options were great. Wine selection was wide and varied and the cocktails were fantastic. Would definitely recommend this for a date night, or any special event with a small group.
the service outstanding the food good have been to most restaurants in the area and i thought the food compared to the others did not stand out i will go back to try once again
My fish was very overcooked which is a shame, but my husbands food was great
Seems small but once you step inside it’s very long and has some good space. The atmosphere was very classy and it’d be something that I can go back to with my friends and or family again. Definitely worth the it and the spot couldn’t be better since it’s downtown Rochester. Service didn’t disappoint even knowing that my party was huge and there was really only one of them (not that our waitress needed help). Overall me and my party were happy.
First time dining here. It was smaller then we anticipated. The food was good but not great! I would give it another chance.
Excellent food and excellent service! The calamari is amazingly tender and each of us raved about our entree.
Love this place. Celebrating my wife’s birthday with our family. Menu and food always the best.
Great little place with an excellent menu and outstanding specials.
Great things: physical atmosphere. Unhurried attitude and professionalism of wait staff. Not so great: poor beer selection. Food under seasoned. Significant noise level change with full room. Dont expect to be able to conduct conversation without yelling and leaning in.
Was a little nervous about this place after receiving an email that my reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant. After I called the girl said it was taken care of and fixed, come to find out upon arrival they never fixed it. Thankfully they did have a table ready for my party of 13. Our waitress was great (Chandler) and food was delicious.
I think this might be my new favorite restaurant! The sea bass was delicious, menu was quite varied - would love to try the brussel sprouts appetizer next time. Would like to see more seafood items and creme brulee for dessert, but I guess I can't have everything :)
It was a little loud for conversation. Food & service were great. We enjoyed our first visit here & will be repeat customers!
We were there on Father’s Day. The staff was short staffed but managed to be efficient and pleasant.
The food never disappoints.
Early Father’s Day Celebration. Been here several times and have never been disappointed. A must try in Rochester
First time visiting and we had a great experience. Service was excellent. We ate street side on one of the few good weather nights we have had this year. Wine was also excellent. Will be back!
Good food and service. Noise level is way too loud. I don’t mind lively atmosphere, but when the server has to lean down and yell out the specials, it’s a little too much. Need to install sound absorbing material throughout the place.
Was just good. Nothing stood out other than the dry salmon
One of the best dining experiences I have had. The culinary experience is subtle, nuanced, complex, deep and rich, all at the same time. Service was impeccable and timely without being rushed. We will be back.
It was wonderful. Food and service were excellent
Never packed, great food and service! I try to avoid dining at the adjacent room because acoustics there aren’t great.
The food here was delicious and the service was excellent . I would recommend anyone going there to sit in the large room and not the small room in the front of the restaurant . My husband and I went out for a quiet dinner however the acoustics in that small room were terrible and we could barely hear each other speak
Excellent food and service, as always! Had friends from out of town and they thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience.
At first you are shocked by the prices on the menu, but take it from me it is well worth the money. When the waiters and waitresses bring the food out you are shocked by the amount of food you get! The service was great and the ambiance is wonderful! Well worth the money!
Went here for celebration because it had great reviews. 100 dollar dinner, terrible food. My med rare steak was almost well done and very chewy as if it were pan fried. Waitress was nice. Will not return.
Drinks were good, but food wasn’t. Lamb appetizer was burnt, and I wouldn’t order the snapper again. Mashed potatoes were the best part.
The best restaurant in Rochester without question! Outstanding all the way around!
