We loved everything about this place. The decor is cool, the view is beautiful, the service was amazing and the food came out very quickly. We loved all our meals (fish tacos, steak fajitas, cheese quesadilla for the kids).
We will def be back.
Decided to try Roca Roja Cantina because it was someplace we had never been before. We had a reservation for 5:30 but the traffic coming through Calabash and Little River was a bit heavier than expected. We were able to get a table sitting outback on the porch above the Salt Flat Creek. The scenery was filled with lots of birds, and certain creatures swimming in the creek. Our server was Austin and he was friendly and handled everything we asked of him. Austin had told us about a special dinner for two, that was not on the menu, but glad we went with it. It was a hot cauldron of Chicken, Steak, Chorizo, Onions, Peppers. They serve it with tortillas like they would a fajita. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We will definitely be back....
The menu was excellent. A great variety of unique Mexican cuisine that makes it hard to decide what to select.
Excellent food and Jacb was an excellent server
Very good Mexican food, some unusual dishes. Only disappointment was they they did not have any of their signature dessert. Jacob was a very good waiter.
Beautiful outdoor seating. Excellent margaritas. Great guacamole and chips. Friendly service
We sat on the deck and it was beautiful. I had the fish tacos and they were delicious. All our food was so good. We will definitely go back. Our waiter Paul was very good and took such good care of us.
Great food, friendly service and good value. Plus, wonderful view of the marsh! Dining in NMB is a wonderful experience at Roca Roja!
Excellent food and service. Very impressive.
We went to Roca Roja in May and it was excellent. We went back July 25th and we were very disappointed. We ordered the same dishes each time, Chimichanga and Chili Rellano. Flavors were not the same. Chili Rellano was undercooked. When we got the bill I discovered the Corona beer was $6. I’ve never paid that for a Corona.
The service was very slow but likely due to a large party. We ordered margaritas when we arrived and we did not get them for 25 mins. Our food had already arrived. The margaritas were good. The steak fajitas were bland and not much meat for 17.00.
Sorry to say but food was either overcooked (fish tacos) or bland (fajitas).Strange no pico or sour creme given with fajitas.
This was the first time here and the food and service were amazing. We had the shrimp and Fish tacos which were one of the best we have had in a very long time. This will become one of or new favorite restaurants.
The margaritas were the best part. The bartender who made them was nice and friendly and attentive. $5 house margaritas. No need to spend more for something else. Made fresh, no mix.
The food was just okay. I think they tried to be more fancy and didn’t need to. The chips and salsa were good and so was the deconstructed street corn.
I think the cantina upstairs is the place to be. It had music and was rather loud.
Not a bad experience overall and they do take reservations so that’s a plus.
We had an outside table, so the noise wasn't bad and it was quite comfortable. I don't think I'd like indoors - it seemed noisy and I didn't like the lighting. The food was very good and the service was outstanding.
Our server was less than attentive. He was nice but didn’t seem with it. The margaritas tasted like sugar water. All of the dishes were covered completely in cheese. The chicken in the Chile relleno was dry and tasted old. The shrimp tacos were good. The queso, salsa, guacamole and chips were excellent but everything else was tasteless and sub par. The inside atmosphere is nothing special at all but the patio is lovely. Just ok Mexican food.
The guacamole, fish tacos, shrimp tacos and margaritas were delicious! The service was impeccable. We sat on the balcony- very comfortable. We’ll be back!!
At first Roca Roja had excellent food and excellent service so I didnt mind paying a bit more. The past 2 times I have gone the food has been bland and the service has been slow. Im not sure I will go back.
Best Mexican restaurant we've found in and around Myrtle. All the staff were very friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable. Drinks were awesome and the food was absolutely phenomenal. Nice scenic views if you sit outside, all in all just a great restaurant in Cherry Grove. Made our list of booking Everytime we come down, lived it!
Great stop for Mexican at the beach!
A great new spot for mexican cuisine and great margarita's. This was our second time there and it was just as fresh and delicious as the first. We look forward to our return to try some more tasty items from the menu.
We usually eat outside but it was raining so we were inside for a change. Great atmosphere and the usual stellar food and service. And thank you for the birthday cakes for our birthday peeps! Great to celebrate with you! Love Rico Roja!
came to celebrate a birthday and had a great time. service was fantastic. food was great. would definitely recommend.
Authentic Mexican, try the shrimp tacos. Margaritas are a little strong.
We visited myrtle beach for the first time and every restaurant was no reservations and minimum two hour wait everywhere but here they said they couldn’t take our party of 12 but we made reservations for 6 and 6 and sat us together when we got there Service was a plus and food was excellent.
Our second time there and yet again, blown away by the food, service and ambience!!
Our server was excellent, friendly and helpful.; but food is marginal . I had steak tacos and it was tiny little cubes of steak sprinkled amongst the 3 tacos. You also had to pay extra for refrained beans and rice which has always been included in the meal at traditional Mexican restaurants.
Very loud Latino music played the entire time. Was also very hot inside where we sat.
It was miserably hot and humid inside and out. Food was greasy and overpriced for quantity and presentation.
First off was seated without menus. When I asked for them the hostess brought 1. Hello see my husband. She definitely has an attitude. If they seat you on the outside patio they need to find a way to make it a little more bearable the fans are not cutting it. The cheese dip was thin like soup not good. I will say my prawns were tasty and my husband had fish and he said it was ok. Margaritas were go. Not sure if we will give them a third try. Maybe to go upstairs to the Cantina.
Everything was wonderful
Going downhill fast. The food doesn't have much flavor at all. The first time, loved the tortilla soup, the 2nd time, wasn't as good, 3rd time (still looking for that first time) just leaving out stuff, 4th and last, stale everything (un chewable pork rinds in the soup). So disapointed because I love this setting! My husband ddn't even have a good meal the first time, but I made him come back...just in case they would turn it around. :(
Food was subpar at best. Taco meat was so over cooked my kids wouldn’t touch it. Main entrées were around $20 and did not include any sides. My small piece of mahi-mahi was over cooked and served in a bed of tomato sauce. Service was fine, and view was pleasant. But not worth the food.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner last night. Service was great and the server was good too
Server was the best ever! Food was delicious and table on overlooking the marsh was wonderful. Will go again.
The hostess was not friendly didn’t smile at anyone. We were seated and after 5 minutes another table was seated. Then a waiter came out and started serving them and after more than 20 minutes no one had acknowledged us and the other table had drinks and placed their order.
The food was okay just nothing special.
Great service and excellent food quality. Portions could be a little bigger. Overall very enjoyable dinner!
This is not your usual Mexican restaurant food. It is a step above. The salsa and guacamole dip that they start you with is excellent. I don’t even like guacamole but I do this! Their Beef Tampique( sp) is some of the best tasting steak I have ever had. I love their pork street tacos too! The chili o is excellent. Their servers are very friendly and helpful.
We dined outside on the terrace overlooking the marsh. Our waiter was very attentive and personable. The food was delicious and a good value for the price. Our second visit since they’ve been open. We will be back.
Great experience. The general manager Deann Adams was amazing. She couldn’t do enough to help customers and make the restaurant run smoothly. Truly an asset to this restaurant.
The food is authentic Mexican, and the restaurant employees were friendly and knowledgeable.
