Roberto's has been serving the Ocean Ilse Beach area since 1985. Its a second generation family business now being run by Chef/Owner Dave Gundrum and Executive Chef Ryan Duganne. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. The menu is diverse from signature seafood dishes like Salmon Rockefeller or Grouper Saint Thomas to classic Italian dishes including Chicken Piccata, Veal Parmigiana and Homemade Lasagna. For the steak lover hand cut Filet Mignon, Ribeye and Berkshire Duroc Pork Chops prepared on our 1600 degree flame broiler. Appetizers include homemade Cheese Crab Dip, Ahi Tuna, Bang Bang Shrimp and more. To finish your night our Creme Brulee is world class.

The filet was cooked ok but the quality was bad. Chewy and fatty and nowhere near the value of 38$ for a 7 ounce filet. Service was good but slow. The kitchen seemed overwhelmed. It was a Bday dinner but even though we gave advanced notice nobody acnowledged. We won’t go back.

The restaurant was quite busy, but the servers didn’t miss a beat. While we’d indicated that there was no rush for a number of requests, such as for additional beverages , and we had minor requests for substitutions, nothing was a problem, and everything was done as if we’d asked for a rush, etc.The food was good, the portions very reasonable. The menu was varied, and nice daily specials were available. We eat out several times a week, usually in large cities or vacation areas. There were a few reviews slamming food, service and/ or value. Those numbered few compared to overall favorable reviews but had given us some initial reservations in booking. I am happy that I followed my instincts and attributed the few outliers to an occasional possible off night or malcontents who might never be pleased.

We have dined at Roberto's for many years. The chef is continually making new dishes, and welcomes feedback from his customers. Even though we go frequently, the menu is diverse enough that there are always new dishes to try, yet the classic favorites are still available. Dave frequently makes rounds during the evening, chatting with customers, making everyone feel welcome. The staff is equally warm and competent, making every dining experience great. We have never regretted choosing Roberto's.

The hostess was very gracious and pleasant, which got things off to a very good start. She also worked her butt off while we were there, cleaning and setting tables, etc. She adds value. Ambience was fair. Seemed a bit dark and spare. Tables were a bit close, so there was jostling of seats when a party left. Minor inconvenience. Our waiter was nice enough, but not as attentive as he should have been. Rather than deliver wine with salads, we had to ask for it, and from the temperature, it was likely the glasses were sitting at the bar for him for a while. We think food should be the highlight of any dining experience, and my chicken Marsala was very good (as was my caesar salad, included in the entree price). My wife was disappointed in her salmon dish (Salmon Mediterranean), which she said sounded better than it tasted. Given our limited experience with this restaurant, there may well be other dishes that would be better liked. That said, I'd go back, but I'm not sure about my wife. Still, if you want a hearty meal in a nice place at a fair price, give Roberto's a shot.

Service was slow and server was overwhelmed. I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the chicken Parmesan. Both dishes were served cold and no taste to it. Won’t be going back anytime soon!

Second time I've eaten at Roberto's. The first time was great. This last visit was not so great. My guests had the Meatballs and Lasagna, and they said it was very good. My Veal Marsala was more like Veal and Gravy, absolutely no Marsala taste. I make a much better Marsala sauce using Marsala wine and a demi-glace thickener. Maybe the chef had a bad night or maybe they were using a supplier's recipe, either way, it was so bad that I didn't eat most of it. I'll give Roberto's one more try to be fair but it had better be good.

The best thing about Roberto’s is Chef Dave. He really cares about his customers. He’s friendly demeanor is very welcoming.
