Robert Ratings and Reviews
Celebrated our engagement here. Outstanding brunch with an outstanding view. We chose early reservations to improve chances of a window seat, but there’s really not a bad seat in the house. Brunch fare was excellent with good variety. Alexandra waited on us, and she was top notch.
Pros- Delicious food/drinks, service is second to none, beautiful ambiance.
Cons- Really no tips on how to get a window seat. I think it really depends on how crowded it is. I have been here 3x so far and the first time I got a window seat and booked the day of, second time couldn’t pull a window seat (booked a few days in advance) and was told that you have to book a month in advance for one? and this 3rd time I was here I booked 2 days in advance and had gotten a window seat. Basically the luck of the draw but either way the restaurant is fabulous and there is a piano player on the weekends.
Recommendations- Duck breast, sea scallops or ravioli for entree and bomboloni for dessert.
We went for a milestone birthday and everything was even better than I had wished for. We had an amazing table with a magical view, great courteous and friendly service and outstanding fresh food and drinks. I am already planning my next occasion there. It was the best of the best!
One of my favorite midtown restaurants! I love taking people here because their reactions have been consistently the same - they all fall in love with the place. They all want to go back. Never had a less than stellar meal. Service is excellent and the view magnificent.
Excellent dinner. Food superb. Service was expert, comme il faut. Stylish surroundings. Personalized too: a window seat was unexpectedly made available: a view to die for. And at end a lovely personalized iced plate wishing us safe journey home the following day; generated by a chance comment we made in passing at the beginning of the meal. Good wine list . Best dinner we had all week. Not inexpensive but great value. Thanks to all there.
Robert was a huge disappointment on every level. We had a brunch reservation at 1:45 and arrived on time, yet the minute we were seated our server came over and in and extremely rude and hostile tone said "you have 30 seconds to order"...what?? If the kitchen closes at this time why would a restaurant still accept reservations when the kitchen is closed? Unfortunately it was a downward spiral from there. The food my friend received was very average at best though my salmon burger was way below. When the bill arrived and we were still settling up the extremely rude server came over and said "can I take that?" It was very obvious we hadn't settled it up yet...RUDE RUDE RUDE!! Yes the view is beautiful but there are many restaurants in NYC with equally beautiful views and MUCH better service and food. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
Robert did not disappoint. It's my goto place to take out of town guests. Friends from Sweden loved the views(we were fortunate enough to sit in the window.) Service was friendly and gracious. The menu for lunch was varied, only two people out of 7 ordered typical brunch dishes(eggs benedict w/ good looking sausages on the side, steak and eggs w/mixed greens). Salmon burgers were a hit and baked salmon was nicely cooked to order. Cappuccinos were thick and creamy but my expresso could have done with a twist it was bitter. We closed down the lunch service but no one hustled us. No small thing on New Years Eve.
We called ahead to ask for a window table, they told us they didn’t have anything available. When we arrived they seated the 5 of us at a window table overlooking beautiful Columbus Circle, first nice surprise! Then service and food were perfect. The halibut, moqueca (seafood stew), rack of lamb, and pasta, everything was very tasty, well done and well presented. We had an opentable rewards certificate that they didn’t accept, even though we had made the reservation with the reward. Then the manager came to bring us each a glass of Moscato to compensate for not accepting the reward. Another nice surprise!
We’ll definitely go back to Robert!
How wonderful to dine on delicious food as you enjoy a spectacular view overlooking Columbus Circle and Central Park! I heartily recommend the pasta dishes, as well as the pumpkin and butternut squash soup. Plus the Bomboloni for dessert were wonderful! The service was friendly and attentive as well. Although walk-ins are accepted, it's definitely worthwhile to make a reservation to ensure you get a table by the windows.
This was our 4th visit here. Service and food are always outstanding . Restaurant is almost always 100% full when we’re there but noise is never an issue. Had filet mignon last evening and it was perfect. I’ve never been able to score a window table but the view is still great from the others. Great for impressing guests from out of town.
