Robert Ratings and Reviews
Everything was good, not spectacular. For unknown to us reasons, we didn't get any tasting appetizers and after dinner treats from chef like two tables next to us got. Guess, not everyone is special at Robert's these days. Even thou, they used to. Also ordered tea and had to remind and wait for some time. Service was far from top notch.
We had reservations for a while, for a window view. We received that. The server was great, but the food was not warm. One of the entrees was severely undercooked per the order. The head of the service, came and retrieved the order and had it recooked. Other than that small mixup, it was fine.
Out of town friend visiting, so came here for the view and good food reviews. Sad we couldn't get the window table request we'd made, but the service was great and the food delicious. Tomato caprese sandwich and salad, tomato soup with grilled cheese were super fresh. Dessert of sweet potato cheesecake was subtle and great. Chocolate cake absolutely perfect. Would still recommend even if you can't get the window seats.
We requested a window table. The host said I have an hour to sit on the corner. 15 minutes before our ticking clock the waiter wanted to move us. Now, there was a table next to us with better view had no customer facing the window. If you manage things better, you could have given us the table that was empty.
As a business owner, a guest with his wife, I think you manage things poorly.
Finally, not a place to return to. Arrogance tend to make your customers look elsewhere. New York is full of good restaurants with better view and definitely better hostesses!
I found Robert while planning a recent trip to Manhattan with my husband. It looked nice online and had great reviews and I'm so glad we made reservations and called ahead to get on the list for a window seat. This was an amazing restraunt for; the views, the food, and the service...highly recommend for a nice grown up evening out!! We will be back next trip to the city💜
Wait staff ignored myself and date for about 25 minutes. We were early 30s and well dressed. I was only one who ordered wine, and had to grabbed waiters attention 25 minutes later to take our order. Tables to left and right came after and were served. Food has my stomach upset and wine was lackluster.
You come here for the view & ambiance, service is 2nd and the food is third. Don't get me wrong, the food is very good, just not AMAZING and frankly the menu doesn't offer a lot to choose from. I'm sure almost every eater can find at least 1 thing on the menu they like the sounds of, I liked the description on about 5 things, my husband, just that 1, but he liked that option and was satisfied. I would have eaten McDonald's from here though, truly the view was nothing short of spectacular! We were very lucky as the marathon was last weekend and they had fireworks in the park on Friday...seeing that from Robert was an awesome treat!
Fantastic location with the most amazing view over Central Park. Nice ambience in the restaurant. Be sure to ask for a window seat with a view when making a reservation. The food was very good although the Pancotta was disappointing. Fixed price menu at lunch good value. Would recommend and happily visit again x
What a pleasure to come in from a stormy evening and be seated in the window overlooking Columbus Circle and Central Park. Very attentive service, with particular attention to our "Special Occasion". And the food was delicious, the wine list extensive and not over-priced. Highly recommended.
Robert is an outstanding restaurant with a wonderful, helpful, and friendly staff from the person who seats you to the wait staff. The meals that my wife and I had were fabulous and unique. Our server, Joe, couldn’t have been any more accommodating in answering our questions and keeping us aware of when our meal would be served. The view we had from our table of the Columbus Circle area at night was spectacular even though we were not seated at the window. Because of the volume of people in the restaurant, the noise level was a bit high but tolerable. We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend visiting this restaurant. If you are looking for a romantic evening dinner, try to book a table near the windows for a beautiful view of the city.
Our first visit. We had a 5:45 reservation but arrived about ten minutes early. The first thing we noticed was how noisy it was and requested to be seated towards the back, away from the noise, but also unfortunately, any chance of a view.
My husband ordered the mussels and I half a portion of pasta, a risotto croquette with shaved truffles. We received a nice amuse bouche of melon and prosciutto. The truffles were the attraction but I did not taste any. Very disappointing. After the appetizers, the bus boy surprisingly asked, "You have more food coming here?"
Our entrees were rack of lamb and pork tenderloin and pork belly. We waited for a loooong time for our entrees, one hour from the time we arrived. My husband's lamb was cold enough to send back, parsnips almost raw. We started getting nervous as we had theatre tickets and limited time. A gentleman whose job seems to be walking around the restaurant overseeing stopped at some point by our table to inquire how everything was. We told him and he apologized and asked what he could do for us. We said nothing as we were in a hurry. We ordered a shared ice cream for dessert, thinking it was the fastest and the roving ambassador came back offering a sweet wine, which we declined and he told us our "special complimentary desserts that he had ordered were on the way." My husband said we didn't want anything, just to have our ice cream and leave. Our ice cream finally arrived, with two more desserts and a plate with Happy Birthday written on it, nice touch. We sent back the complimentary desserts. The roving ambassador was very considerate and tried really hard, he removed the lamb and the ice cream from the bill. Robert tries to be what it is not–- top notch restaurant. It takes more than a view.
It was not our first time at Robert. We took visitors from overseas.
Apart from the great views from the restaurant, the food selection was great with a good mix of seafood and meat dishes.
The best tables, of course, are by the front windows with a view on Columbus Circle. Unfortunately they are not guaranteed.
Only a ten minute walk to the Met.
