Definitely appreciated the staff turning down the loud music for my parents who have hearing sensitivities. Food is great but a bit slow.
We aim to please, kind stranger. We'll do the same at our 2nd location in the West End.
Delicious, fast, courteous, friendly staff. We ordered 3 appies and they were all amazing. Will be back!!
Rochelle! You're the best! What more can we say? Stop by our West End location the next time you're looking for a night of culture :)
Excellent authentic Italian trattoria feel to the place! Friendly staff. Good service. Excellent pasta. This was our second time there. We will be back!
Hi Jamal, thank you SO MUCH for the kind review. Please visit us at our 2nd location in the West End - 1906 Haro - the next time you're looking for a night of culture.
Amazing pasta. Like I was back in Italy! Thank you for a wonderful meal and great wine.
Feeling like you're back in Italy is exactly what we're going for. Thank you! We invite you to try our 2nd location at 1906 Haro!
My reservation was for 545pm on the patio and they obviously overbooked and had my table inside in the back. I had to wait until 630pm to be seated on the patio even though I had a reservation for the patio.
Overall, we had very pleasant experience and definitely will visit again. Only thing I can add for improvement, to be aware of wine temperature served to customers. Our wine was little too warm, I have to admit, warmer than room temperature. Also, it is a very nice touch receiving complimentary Olives at the table. It gives warm, welcoming and authentic feel to customers. Cant wait to try more dishes on the menu. See you soon again.
Hi Nina, thank you for the review! We look forward to seating you at our new location in the West End - 1906 Haro. Grazie!
Main issue was the reservation process through Open Table. The place is very small and gets warm inside so specially asked for patio seat in reservation request. To get this reservation, I needed to book an earlier spot than I would have liked but thought it was a fair trade off to get a patio seat on a nice evening. The reservation was accepted and no correspondence came back indicating there were no patio seats available. When we showed up (on time) we were told we could only sit inside near the hot kitchen even though they acknowledged the reservation asked for a patio seat. It was a hot and noisy dinner. The food is decent but not for the cost. There are a lot of other restaurants in the area so recommend that people go elsewhere to a place that keeps its commitments.
Food was outstanding!
Thank you so much! Hopefully the food at our 1906 Haro location in the West End also exceeds your expectations!
Was very cramped on the patio, servers were constantly bumping into us. My Osso Buco was slightly over cooked on the outer edges and didn’t present well but tasted great near the centre (3/5) My gf’s Roche Roche was tasteless she said and only when powdered cheese (not freshly grated, -1 automatically) did it have some flavour (2/5). Our antipasto (Beef Carpaccio and sangrias) and service actually saved the dining experience. Overall Robba da Matti is good for drinks and antipasto but fell short for their mains and what Italian restaurant uses powdered parmigiana :(
Hi there, thank you for the review. Your in-depth observations are appreciated. Beef carpaccio is always a winner! You're more than welcome to visit us at our 2nd location at 1906 Haro in the West End.
Robba da Matti offer delicious traditional fare with a flair. The space is cozy — inside you can watch the open kitchen, or outside enjoy a nice spring evening on the patio. We had the farfalle (delicious meat sauce, pasta perfectly al dente) and the mushroom risotto (creamy with woody flavor). Just a lovely evening.
Yes! Thank you so much for providing this review. We look forward to welcoming you to our new location in the West End - 1906 Haro St. :)
The food here has always been stellar, and the rebranding has not changed that even the tiniest bit. I love Italy more than anywhere else in the world, and the food here comes the closest to something you would get in a tiny restaurant off of the piazza that I have found in Vancouver yet.
Hi TialynetteK, we're so grateful that you took the time to put this review together. Thank you! Hopefully our second location at 1906 Haro in the West End meets your expectations. :)
Amazing food, service and environment... Definitely raccomanded
Thank you for the 5-star rating, Davide! Be sure to visit us at our second location in the West End - 1906 Haro St.
Had a fantastic dinner for my wife's birthday. Pasta was outstanding!
Wonderful food, menu choices and service! Definitely recommend!
This is a real gem in Yaletown. You can get good and authentic Italian food for a reasonable price, a very distinct quality compared to the usual price/value in the neighbourhood. It looks and feels (I am pretty sure it also is...) like a family restaurant, the pasta is excellent across the board, the meats and appetizers are truly Italian and original. Service is fast and friendly. Go eat there, you won't regret it. Ah, the wine list is good, too!
Wonderful little restaurant with an authentic Italian feel. Pasta was delicious as was my starter salad.
Diners should know this is a tiny restaurant sandwiched between two larger places. That's both good and not so good - good if you want a smaller, more personal place. But not so good if you are expecting a more upscale ambiance. The tables are squished together with little room to pass between even for staff. Very casual atmosphere in furniture and decor. We got put in a table for 2 directly underneath the cooking staff counter and in the path of all the servers. Food and service was good but the value wasn't there. I would only recommend for a casual dinner and not for any special occasion.
Authentic tasting Italian food. Good for Celiacs, with gluten free pasta available and delicious risotto.
Small covered patio is good on a sunny day
Fantastic food, very personal service and great location. Complimentary desert for my birthday was a nice touch
Honestly, the pastas are one of the most authentic you can find in town. And the risottos are SO good!
This has been a favorite restaurant for my wife and I for 2 years now however last visit noticed that everything took a significant downturn. The main courses lacked flavour and were too simple in terms of ingredients. Not a single vegetable in the mix just pasta and a sauce. Service was clumsy and slow. Bought one the more expensive wines and it was only so so. Appies were amazing as always but everything else was subpar.
The food was done well and also arrived quite promptly. My date really enjoyed the burrata with prosciutto to start. Pasta was perfectly cooked. Staff were very attentive and welcoming. Will definitely return in the future for pasta cravings.
Made reservations 2 weeks ahead. When arriving only one table left, next to entrance and against table of other diners. No place to hang up coats. I ordered Osso Buco that had a strange taste and were served on a bed of mushy risotto. My wife ordered Rigatoni alla Primavera that sat in olive oil...Very, very disappointing. Later, when we arrived home we realized that we were overcharged for the pasta ($25 vs $19 on the menu..)
Everything about Robba de Matti was exquisite! I can't wait to return
We went for my birthday and it was amazing as usual!
Would still recommend as food was good. Service could've definitely be better. Very small restaurant but certainly enough if you want to have authentic Italian.
The restaurant is very small, we were sitting right in front of the door. Servers were very friendly. Food flavor was great. The pastas were a bit too al dente for us. The tiramisu was probably premade, the bottom was very watery. Overall, not worth the price.
We had reservations at another restaurant nearby in Yaletown. But when we arrived the music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation so we decided to look for somewhere else. We found Robba da Matti and were absolutely delighted with the ambiance; the food was delicious; and the servers, cooks - everyone, in fact, were wonderful and you cold tell they were a great team. We definitely will go back.
We had a great meal and fantastic service. Love coming to this place!
Had relatives from out of town visit & I wanted to bring them somewhere unique. The best burrata & everything on the meal menu is authentic. The wine list is impressively Italian, reasonably priced, & works so well with the meal. Highly recommended.
Fabulous place to have a date night. Food and service are top notch.
I've been to Robba da Matti quite a few times and they always come through with a wonderful experience. Our server was especially great, very genuine and funny, and my Carbonara was excellent as always.
Looking forward to try their new sister spot in the West End.
the papardelle noodles were a bit undercooked. still hard but the flavours of the dish were excellent as usual.
Hi there, we apologize the noodles were undercooked. Please let us know next time and we'll be happy to sort you out :)
Flavours in the apply and main were truly unique and amazing. Highly recommend the pasta dishes - especially the Papperdelle!
Grazie Dan! Thank you for putting this awesome review together!
One of the most amazing authentic Italian places I've managed to find in the lower mainland. Honestly it's so good it reminds me of some of the food I've had abroad in Italy.
Food was salty and pasta undercooked this time around.
Hi there, thank you for the review. We apologize for the subpar food. Please let us know next time and we'll have our cook whip you up something that better fits your palette!
I VERY MUCH ENJOYED MY LUNCH AT ROBBA DA MATTI. THERE WAS ONLY ONE WAITRESS BUT SHE DID A GREAT JOB AND THE FOOD CAME OUT QUICKLY. I HAD REQUESTED SOMETHING SPECIAL ON MY RESERVATION WHICH UNFORTUNATELY DID NOT HAPPEN BUT THAT'S OKAY. I WOULD 100% RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO PEOPLE. THE RISOTTO FUNGHI AND PESTO LINGUINE WERE DELICIOUS!
Grazie, Felicia! We're so excited for your next visit!
The papardelle was fantastic! Beautiful toothsome texture, flavourful sauce. Absolutely amazing. The spaghetti vongole was good, however, I found myself wishing I could sneak more bites from my companion's papardelle!
Hi Lilo, thank you for the review and for visiting on your birthday. We apologize there was no acknowledgment of your birthday. Next time, we'll be sure to provide you with something extra special :)
Delicious pasta. Best I’ve had in a while. Great attentive service. Very authentic Italian.
Grazie, kind stranger! :)
