My mom and I ate there for the first time a few days ago and we loved it. Nice quiet atmosphere with cute patio seating. I ordered a matcha margarita, which was delicious. The octopus seaweed salad and shrimp gyoza were amazing. My mom ordered the seafood yakiudon and ate all of it, something that is unheard of for her. I ordered the Asahikawa ramen and I am in love. The bone broth was amazing and simply perfection. All of the vegetables very perfect accompaniments and the pork belly added a wonderful rich flavor. Will definitely be back again.
We’ve been to Robata several times and never had a problem, but this time it took us 10 minutes after we sat down to get service, and they were out of half the food we ordered. We sat without drinks several times and overall were very disappointed with the experience.
The food was prepared well and the taste was the same, I definitely recommend that you try this place.
Yum Yum Yum at Robata Ramen - That yellow house is full of flavor- everything was on point!! great customer service and friendly staff - -
I needed a reservation for four people so I wanna head and made reservations via using the OpenTable app I figured since it was a Friday night and Friday nights are busy nights from most businesses and restaurants downtown and midtown -I wanted to ensure that we had a table to enjoy the Yum Yum Yum this place has to offer
We have seating accommodations at the bar -and I really love the choice of seating to sit higher up in the high chairs being able to view their notable list - it was as I expected it was crowded it was at least with the place can hold at least 30 to 40 people and it definitely had that so I'm happy that I went ahead and made those reservations on the OpenTable app-
We started with water and tea and a little hot sake sake and appetizers just came and entrees it was just endless Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum
I give this place a whooping five stars 5 five stars and I will be back- this one of those places you need to add on your go to -Monday Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday doesn't matter this is a place you want to add to your try Food list
Embarrassing level of service. Mediocre food. Terrible overall experience.
The place was very Smokey and the food smell was strong. Our waitress was slow and inattentive. Otherwise everything was great.
Menu items I didn't understand and server wasn't enthused to explain. They were out of shrimp and scallops.
Food was excellent. Service was so-so. Drinks were overpriced and were mainly ice and soda.
I think their kitchen vent wasn’t working very well because it was very smoky inside the restaurant from grilling the Yakitori I assume. My husband also ordered extra of the pork belly (char su) along with his ramen but didn’t get it until after he finished off his bowl. Other than that, food is always great.
Food is really good but gets really smelly once the skewers start cooking
Great Ramen.....my husband has had Ramen in Japan and he was thoroughly impressed!!!
So glad we made a reservation. It's a hot little place. We tried a variety of the starters and the eggplant with spicy tuna was out of this world. Biggest regret was only getting one order of the chicken wings. We were licking the plate with no shame, the sauce was that good. We got a couple of plates of yakisoba, and a couple of ramen bowls. The portions are just right, no need to share!
We have enjoyed every visit. This one was the best since they’ve added the new ramen bowl with chicken meatballs! It is fantastic. I look forward to having it again soon.
Food was outstanding but this is the second time in 8 months that I have been there. Both times my friends and I were bombarded with fruit flies and ants. We even had a fruit fly in one of three glasses of a whiskey flight. I won’t be going again if they continue have this problem.
I love this restaurant because of the food, but the service is always lacking. This time I came, it took forever the waitress to come outside and check on us, I had to ask for a fork twice before I finally got one. I love the food so I will continue going here, but they really need to, either hire better servers, or train the ones they have.
We had an excellent meal and wonderful Service. We went for my Fiance's birthday and sat outside. This was our first time going and we can't wait to come back and eat there again.
Food was great, they were kind of busy on a Saturday night so the service was a tad slow but good.
Service was SLOW & indifferent. Fortunately, our food was great.
Great food and drinks. My date and I had a wonderful time. We would be back soon!
It was great. I got the garlic edamame, fried garlic, and a ramen bowl. Lots of food at a pretty good price.
We were seated at an empty patio. Two other tables were seated 10-15 min later. Server eventually came out and took our order. Instead of turning it in, she took the other guest's orders. She then turned in three rather large orders at the same time. Food came out approx 4o minutes after we were seated. The restaurant was empty except for one or two other tables. We chose the restaurant on a beautiful Sunday because we were hoping to get served rather quickly at your near empty restaurant. I hope this helps. Thank you for passing along to your servers and management . Ann
Great local spot for Ramen. The ambience was fun and energetic. The service was a bit slow, but she made a wonderful recommendation.
Good food, good drink selection, great location. If you're a ramen guru, there are not as many options as some other ramen spots that I've been to. Overall, great place for something different than the normal Memphis food scene.
Overall, just a great place to eat. The ramen is wonderful with a wide variety of customizable options.
Crab Ragoon wss great. Miso corn was too salty to eat.
It's decent Ramen for Memphis. Broth needs a little more umph. I wish there was a spice ball available not just chili flakes that don't dissolve like the ball of spice
Everything was fantastic. I will be coming back for sure.
more than enough food. Great price for the size. even eating late, the food tasted fresh and crisp. Cocktails were delicious as well. Service was excellent and we weren't forgotten.
Has great potential. Close to authentic. Need to serve food that is supposed to be hot, hot.
Chose Robata for a birthday dinner and the food and service was great. Overall atmosphere, being in the center of Overton Square, was awesome as well. My only complaint would be, the bottled beer. It's served at room temperature.
The waitress said they're all served at room temperature and recommended we switch to draft so we did. Since it was a birthday dinner, it was a bit of let down to be in a festive area, a nice restaurant and having to drink draft beer because the imported beers were all room temperature. I hope there's a plan to address this in the near future.
This was the first time I had ramen and I loved it! Our waiter was nice but just took a long time! At one point, my friend had to go up to the waitstaff talking at the bar and ask for more water because all of our glasses were empty. But the food was really good, just wish the service was better.
The food was good, but I have a hard time justifying $10 ramen. But maybe that's because I associate ramen with college and after-the-bars-close food you buy from a street truck! The service was mediocre at best. The server was young, disorganized and seemed uninterested in serving us. But he was young so may just need time to learn. Of note, when we showed up (on time) for our reservation, the hostess said there was no table available in spite of the fact that there was an open table directly in front of her. When we pointed it out to her, she did allow us to sit there. After leaving, I received an email from Open Table stating that the restaurant had cancelled our reservation! Overall, the ramen was good and it's nice to have some restaurant variety in Memphis so I can recommend it.
Robata had always been one of our favorite restaurants. The last two visits have been disappointing from a good standpoint as well as a service standpoint. I'm not sure what has changed but it was not welcomed change. The food lacked flavor and the service was equally dissapointing. I hope Robata gets its act together, we really miss our favorite spot!
It was very loud- so much so I couldn't hear the person in front of me. I did not get served the right dish but yet my server told me it was correct.
Even though we were given two seats at the bar for our reservation (which was odd) and we were seated right near a wide open door (which was very cold), the bartender/server was great and attentive and the food was warm and worth hanging around for. We got quite a lot of food for a decent price, and we would definitely be back. A fun date night!
Too smoky. Lots of gnats. Severs so so. All too bad bc the food is just great and the courtyard is awesome.
My wife and I went on a Wednesday and it was nice and quiet. Our waitress was kind and polite. The food came out nice and hot, so overall we were very satisfied as first time customers.
I love the crispy eggplant appetizer, the pan-seared gyoza, and the miso pork ramen. The food has been good the few times i've been there. However, the staff has consistently been slow. Twice now the bar has brought out my drink extremely late, once having to send it back because we were done with our meal. I've had one good experience with the bar, which was when I sat up there to eat and we had a friendly bartender. Would not recommend for people who like to drink before/with their food or have big groups.
Enjoyed everything from the raman noodles to the short ribs! Great dinner.
We had such a good dinner. The service was quick, but not rushed. The food was amazing! Robata has the best food for the prices in Overton Square. We will definitely go again!
