Robata Ramen and Yakitori Bar Ratings and Reviews
So glad we made a reservation. It's a hot little place. We tried a variety of the starters and the eggplant with spicy tuna was out of this world. Biggest regret was only getting one order of the chicken wings. We were licking the plate with no shame, the sauce was that good. We got a couple of plates of yakisoba, and a couple of ramen bowls. The portions are just right, no need to share!
Food was outstanding but this is the second time in 8 months that I have been there. Both times my friends and I were bombarded with fruit flies and ants. We even had a fruit fly in one of three glasses of a whiskey flight. I won’t be going again if they continue have this problem.
I love this restaurant because of the food, but the service is always lacking. This time I came, it took forever the waitress to come outside and check on us, I had to ask for a fork twice before I finally got one. I love the food so I will continue going here, but they really need to, either hire better servers, or train the ones they have.
We were seated at an empty patio. Two other tables were seated 10-15 min later. Server eventually came out and took our order. Instead of turning it in, she took the other guest's orders. She then turned in three rather large orders at the same time. Food came out approx 4o minutes after we were seated. The restaurant was empty except for one or two other tables. We chose the restaurant on a beautiful Sunday because we were hoping to get served rather quickly at your near empty restaurant. I hope this helps. Thank you for passing along to your servers and management . Ann
Chose Robata for a birthday dinner and the food and service was great. Overall atmosphere, being in the center of Overton Square, was awesome as well. My only complaint would be, the bottled beer. It's served at room temperature.
The waitress said they're all served at room temperature and recommended we switch to draft so we did. Since it was a birthday dinner, it was a bit of let down to be in a festive area, a nice restaurant and having to drink draft beer because the imported beers were all room temperature. I hope there's a plan to address this in the near future.
This was the first time I had ramen and I loved it! Our waiter was nice but just took a long time! At one point, my friend had to go up to the waitstaff talking at the bar and ask for more water because all of our glasses were empty. But the food was really good, just wish the service was better.
The food was good, but I have a hard time justifying $10 ramen. But maybe that's because I associate ramen with college and after-the-bars-close food you buy from a street truck! The service was mediocre at best. The server was young, disorganized and seemed uninterested in serving us. But he was young so may just need time to learn. Of note, when we showed up (on time) for our reservation, the hostess said there was no table available in spite of the fact that there was an open table directly in front of her. When we pointed it out to her, she did allow us to sit there. After leaving, I received an email from Open Table stating that the restaurant had cancelled our reservation! Overall, the ramen was good and it's nice to have some restaurant variety in Memphis so I can recommend it.
Robata had always been one of our favorite restaurants. The last two visits have been disappointing from a good standpoint as well as a service standpoint. I'm not sure what has changed but it was not welcomed change. The food lacked flavor and the service was equally dissapointing. I hope Robata gets its act together, we really miss our favorite spot!
Even though we were given two seats at the bar for our reservation (which was odd) and we were seated right near a wide open door (which was very cold), the bartender/server was great and attentive and the food was warm and worth hanging around for. We got quite a lot of food for a decent price, and we would definitely be back. A fun date night!
I love the crispy eggplant appetizer, the pan-seared gyoza, and the miso pork ramen. The food has been good the few times i've been there. However, the staff has consistently been slow. Twice now the bar has brought out my drink extremely late, once having to send it back because we were done with our meal. I've had one good experience with the bar, which was when I sat up there to eat and we had a friendly bartender. Would not recommend for people who like to drink before/with their food or have big groups.
We sat on the patio, and the weather was wonderful and that was really the only plus. Our server was slow and she made multiple mistakes with our orders. Additionally, the food was very bland. We had the fried oyster, squid and cragb rangoon appetizers. Only the rangoons were tasty. For main entree, our table had the salmon flake fried rice, the fried chicken fried rice and several skewers. All were very bland, no seasoning and the fried rice was just steamed white rice in a bowl with the meat thrown on top. Maybe their Ramen is the house favorite? I doubt we will go again, but if we do, I will try the Ramen. Overall, this place was not even close to some of the good reviews we read. I would not recommend.
I know this was not a typical night at Robata. I have been many times and had a great experience... Probably the worst service I have ever had tonight. The waitress very rarely came by to check on the table for basic this... like water or any other beverages. We waited 2 hrs from door to bill. In most of that time other patrons were seated and served entrees before we even got all of our appetizers out. when entrees were finally brought out they were cold. The bartender came over offered a 20% discount and to take the food back to be warmed up. When it came back out it was lukewarm at best. At that point I was over it and got my check. The promised comp did not occur... at best it was 10% and they completely botched the check for the other couple we were with. No apologies for the poor service, no apologies for the poor quality of the food nothing. Robata Ramen and Yakitori Bar as a walking distance resident I find the staffing tonight lackluster and the overall experience to be shameful.
