Rob Dob's Restaurant and Bar
We were celebrating my granddaughter's birthday. From the appetizer to the dessert the entire meal was very good.
Over priced. Steak was tough and grisly. Potato was dry, nothing I could do to improve that. Everything was a al carte therefore adding to the price of an over priced steak. The only thing that was great about the meal was the house salad. Will not try again.
Was disappointed we were unable to sit on patio due to some awning work. Since the patio was requested, it would have been nice to have received a text informing us so we could have made other plans since we are not eating in house yet.
The food, the wine, appetizers and beautiful patio to enjoy it on.
Our server was phenomenal! Very attentive but not over attentive.
It was so nice to see so many people that we know that also enjoy this place.
There was live music and everyone seemed to be enjoying a wonderful summer evening.
I would recommend Rob Dobb’s a 10 ! Bloomington/Normal is blessed to have such a fine place.
The food was wonderful and the drinks were cold! The music was amazing as well! We will for sure be back!!
The food and service are very good at Rob Dob's, but the music is now well-balanced, and one feels a bit like one is dining in a nightclub with bad acoustics. This is perhaps an overly harsh comment, but the restaurant is not set up for such live music (as nice as the genre of music was). Perhaps this was all impacted by the pandemic and sparse seating, so just consider that. We are still fortunate to have Rob Dob's here in Bloomington.
Very expensive for what you get. Definitely don’t think the fish and chips we got was work the $18 price tag. Prime rib is very good though
Excellent service and food. Enjoyed the live music.
Starters and entrees were fantastic. We found the quality of the food was worth the money. We also liked that they have a nice balance of price points on the menu. Service was excellent and the waitress offered a lot of recommendations as we inquired. Perfect for a night with friends or a special occasion.
Rob Dob's food was delicious! If you come for a birthday or anniversary, they even give you a free dessert. But be sure to ask to sit away from the bar area on the weekend, unless you want to have to talk over the band.
Food, service and overall atmosphere was great. While the food was delicious it was a little pricey. We went for our anniversary so it was a special occasion and worth the splurge.
A few mistakes on food orders for our party but will cut some slack since they are just getting reopened. We all enjoyed our steaks. Terrific! Cooked to order and tasted amazing.
Desserts kind of underwhelming. Just ok.
Overall great experience.
Excellent food and service to celebrate a birthday!
Always a pleasure to dine at Rob Dob's. The food and service are terrific!
Quality and quantity of food for price didn’t seem to fit. I have no problem paying more but we both left hungry and wanting something else. The waiter was honest but seemed to have no problem telling us what he didn’t like on the menu, which was a turn off. We both also received cork bits in our wine when we purchased a bottle. The ambiance was worth going back to watch a game at the bar or sit on the patio for music and a light lunch, but not worth going back for the high priced entrees.
I just recently moved to this area from North Carolina and was having company for the weekend of the 4th of July. I have not been to many restaurants since moving. I have driven by on numerous occasions and came in for lunch on the 3rd. My guests enjoyed Flatbread, a Rueben and a Seafood Cobb Salad. Everything was so delicious that we made a reservation for dinner on the 4th.
On the night of the 4th, our table enjoyed the 6oz Filet with Fois Gras, a 16oz Rib Eye and the small cut of Prime Rib. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely fantastic! In my 66 years, I have never had such tender Prime Rib!
You are the number 1 go-to on my list!
Just had wine and 3 apps all were very good especially the dates and calamari. Wine was excellent and very reasonable. Band was good but to loud to have a conversation. Only suggestion would be no horns in band it just to small of room for that instrument.
My wife and I went there for the first time Monday. Overall it was pretty good - service was good a few critique's on the food. We started off with the Brussels sprouts and they were great. My side house salad was ok, but was disappointed it didn't have a few more ingredients to spice it up or dress it up. My wife had the Salmon and said it was good - nice size portion and tasty. I had the grilled chicken and Rigatoni - it was pretty good but was light on the sauce and chicken and spinach. Add more of those to the dish and I'd be back. Creme Brulee was desert we split - it was tasty but the custard below the hard surface was a little more runny than what I've had/know as normal. This was my first time there, and I will try it again but was not blown away this go round. I have had mixed reviews from some friends that have gone there and hope more locals go there to try it out. The bar looks great - I'd go over just for a drink or two sometime. I do think it would be a good place to take a client as it is quiet and favorable to discuss business. Tell me why I should or should not try again? Bloomington needs a nice restaurant like this - we lost Lancasters which was a favorite of mine. Should I try again?
This has become our favorite place to dine!
Excited to try Rob Dob’s and we weren’t disappointed. The food was great and service was awesome!
Sat outside on a really windy night with stuff blowing off of our plates and the tables but it was so nice to be eating out again that no one really cared! Staff in masks the whole time and patrons basically the same unless eating! Fabulous experience!
They were ready for us, even though we arrived before our reservation time. We ate out on the patio. The food was delicious, the wait staff were attentive, and it was a great evening with my adult niece!
We ate outside in a tent. There was traffic noise so ambiance a little different than being inside this beautiful bar. We were celebrating my 11 year old grandsons birthday. He loves Rob Dob’s. Cheese curds and the cheese burger with onion rings and fried egg. All of our party of five loved the food! Our waitress Katia was amazing. She was kind, friendly and knew the menu. Great service! Thanks for the flourless cake. We had a great time even if we were in at tent!
Finest quality in a comfortable relaxing beautiful atmosphere.
We arrived thinking we’d be dining outside (as that is the mandate as of now) & found the restaurant FULL of patrons dining inside. We were accommodated with an outside table but felt like we may have inconvenienced one of the hostesses. It was very pleasant & quiet outside. More people showed up to eat outside by the time we were leaving, but we had the patio to ourselves most of the time. While it was explained to us that they moved everyone inside when an earlier storm moved through, it seemed impossible that all those patrons had been outside & no effort was being made to resume outside dining. The majority of the staff was very sweet & helpful & wore masks.
Our steaks were little tough. Rest of food was really good service was outstanding!!!
Great food, great service
I have enjoyed my experience here every time I go. I have been probably 15 times and have always left satisfied.
Thankful we have such a beautiful place to enjoy.
It was great! Food was delicious!
I cannot day enough good things about this restaurant. They really make you feel like family!!
Great food and service!! Was seated right away. Drinks, appetizers, entree's and dessert were all good!!! Can't wait to go back
We celebrated my husbands birthday at RobDobs for lunch. The service was very good and we enjoyed our tasty food. We sat outside on the patio and it was a very pleasant day. Definitely recommend Rob DOBS!!
Nice friendly staff but when we had our bill ready to be picked up our waitress was not coming back to pick it up . We waited for quite awhile and decided to flag her down as we wanted to move to the bar area for a drink.
Then after 1 drink she still had not come back to pick up our signed copy of the bill so flagged her down again .
Seems a little careless as I don’t think she would have even noticed if we had walked out without paying. !( Which I would never do!)
The steak doesnt include sides - it's a la carte. My husband's steak was thicker and wider since he got the larger size, but my 12 oz was very thin. The flavor was still excellent but compared to the price not worth it, potato was bland, the cheese dried it up. Even with two "cheaper" meals it was 135 for 4 people and a toddler. Our food took a little extra to come out but that was okay. Overall the food was great but just not worth the price. Also no specials on Saturdays or Fridays.
It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t good enough to justify the premium cost.
The food was quite good - nice portions, well prepared and presented.
The atmosphere was pleasing- great decor, and music that was actually in the background enough that we could converse easily; also good selection of tunes.
Our server failed to bring our wine/drinks, and had to be reminded a second time.
Had it been a busy night, it might have been understood, but this was on a light night.
And the portion of wine that arrived in our glasses was disappointingly small for the price.
Have been to other establishments that were much more generous for the same cost.
Our first time experience was good, but if I recommended to others, I would have to share the negatives of our experience.
