ROAR is a restaurant rooted in rebellion. We honour the rebellious history of Tofino and we proudly rebel against the status quo. It’s the waves crashing and raging flames. It’s the roar of a rebellious nature.

This isn’t like any other restaurant. We cook with live fire, and all of our food and beverage is inspired by the local people, makers and ingredients of Tofino.

Just as you would gather with friends around the campfire, we invite you to get comfy here while we share the stories behind every one of our menu items as the fire roars in the background.

After an epic Tofino Pride party at Hotel Zed, we're hosting a morning-after Pride brunch that you do not want to miss. Featuring Vivian Vanderpuss (Canada's Drag Race Season Three), Eddi Licious (CBC Canada's a Drag) and Woofie, this show is going to be outrageously fun! Enjoy ROAR's delicious brunch menu, alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. Entertainment begins at 11:30am and runs until 1:00pm. Beloved local icon! Eddi Licious is a Two Spirit Métis performance artist and drag king who has been stomping around local and international stages since 2005. They enjoy entertaining audiences of all kinds with their chaotic energy and galvanizing charm. This artist was featured in the CBC documentary series Canada's A Drag. Vivacious, vintage, vixen, premier cat mum and solution to the rat problem, Vivian Vanderpuss has been performing in Victoria and beyond for 9 years. Starring on Canada’s Drag Race Season 3 and Canada’s a Drag Season 3, Vivian has won the hearts of the nation with her big hair and huge smile. Camp, class and spicy sass Vivian’s performances will have you purring for more. Victoria's bearded and campy theatre queen, Woofie has been bringing big beard energy to stages across the island. Known for early 200's pop music, classic musical theatre numbers, a love of props and big hair and big thighs, Woofie has been seen at theatres, queer bars, breweries, back alleys, and Zoom screens. This bearded queen is passionate about bringing queer art to new spaces and hosting pop-up events in non-queer spaces. Noe let's hear you say WOOF WOOF WOOF.

Nice place. Our waiter Mike was very nice and extremely good at making sure we had everything we needed. The oysters 🦪 were excellent.

We've had 2 dinners at ROAR this week. Excellent food and service. Last night we had the Cedar Plank Salmon share plate - it was wonderful. Thanks ROAR - we'll be back.

We decided to try Roar for our 25th anniversary. It made our day extra special! Joe provided impeccable service, and the food and cocktails (spyhoppers - yum!) were divine. The seacuterie we had to start was spectacular; I could have enjoyed that as a meal on its own. The ambiance was trendy yet tasteful. We have already decided to return for my husband’s birthday later this year.

Roar has become a community gathering restaurant. It has gone through its growing pains and now is holding its own as a consistently wonderful place to dine. Tofitians love the duck confit and your regular servers like Emily. Thanks for another great meal.
