Place has a great atmosphere and decent menu. Service was unfortunately very slow. Took almost 10 mins to even get water or be greeted. Server forgot to put in one items we ordered (brussel sprouts). We obviously didn’t get charged for it but we decided not to inquire about it because we didn’t want to end up having another long wait for one item.

A big plus is that Roanoke starts serving dinner in mid-afternoon which was much appreciated by a number of diners including me. The Prime Rib (my favorite main dish) was superbly prepared with a large serving portion. My husband’s Scallops dish was also delicious. The chocolate lava cake with chocolate gelato and chocolate sauce is a chocoholic’s delight. The key lime pie was great, too. Service was outstanding. The waiter told us about his favorite thing to do in Chicago—we did it that evening and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Nothing to write home about. We were seated 20 minutes before the people joining us and sat in a basically empty dining room when we could have sat at the bar much more comfortably. Awkward service that was almost intrusive at times. Not sure why this demands a premium price. The bacon wrapped dates were really good, the blackened swordfish special of the day was not memorable. Very little seasoning, no heat to the blackening; the mashed potatoes were quite good if a little salty. Do appreciate that they had several Mocktail options, but overall we were not impressed.

It was easy to grab a reservation, seating was plentiful, and the service was quick and attentive. I ordered the clam chowder, but didn’t much enjoy it. I think it had jalapeños in it, and the potatoes had broken down quite a bit. The scallops I ordered were BEAUTIFULLY done and delicious, but I didn’t enjoy the arugula risotto they were plated with. The cocktail I ordered was also a little too sweet for my liking, but none of these things seemed worth raising a fuss over. I opted to skip dessert since the other dishes were hit and miss.

My friend and I dined here after attending a matinée performance. We were there within the 4-6 pm time frame and were able to order the Theater Prix Fix. The food was delicious (clam chowder, salmon in a cream sauce on a bed of potato purée and chocolate chip gelato) and it was an exceptionally good value in my opinion. The ambiance was lovely as we were able to be seated outdoors,and our servers were pleasant and attentive. We actually recommended the Roanoke that same night to a couple who approached us on our way back to our car and asked if we knew of any good restaurants in the area!

Get the cinnamon roll! Drinks are on the pricey side, but were good. The brunch food was outstanding. The cinnamon roll is the best I've had from any bakery or restaurant. VERY worth the $5.00 price.

The highboy chairs on the upper floor were too low for the table and very uncomfortable. when asked to relocate our party of 7 they were not able to accommodate us even though the room was empty. While they may be appropriate for happy hours drinks, eating a meal was way too cumbersome

We both opted for the pre show deal! And what a great deal! I had the salad and my date had the chowder. Salad was mixed green with tasty balsamic dressing. Nice size! Clam chowder was thick and creamy, but had no actual clams to chew on. It came with a cheddar biscuit, but that was dry. The rotisserie chicken was outstanding! Juicy, large portions, and full of flavor! Came with charred Brussel sprouts which were cooked to perfection and creamy, buttery mashed potatoes. The only downside is that there are no substitutions. Cool atmosphere, rustic/industrial, but elevated. Great for a date or groups! They also have some very cool and creative drinks.

Before a family sightseeing day, we decided a classic brunch near the start of our tour - a place with good Bloody Marys and a nice menu would be perfect. While the Bloodys at Roanoke were good, not great, as was the food. It's been a couple of weeks since we visited, so I can't go into the details of our order, but the overall feeling we all had when we left was "meh." Roanoke is probably a wonderful place for dinner - it's ambiance is classic old Chicago. The staff was attentive and we can see the possibilities of good food. We just regretted skipping other proven winners to come here for a family brunch.

Roanoke was recommended by a friend from Michigan who was in the city to see Tommy at the Goodman. Keeping it brief our experience was an A+ all around. It has that great solid old Chicago feel with a straight forward fresh menu! We had Poke bowl and Poke tacos, a gin martini and we left with a SMILE. I had a business lunch at Roanoke. I was so pleased to find that the atmosphere was moderately loud but not too loud that we couldn't hear each other. The conversation was held easily over the normal sounds of the lunch crowd. The food and service were excellent. I will return ASAP when I am in the area.

Roanoke is a lovely restaurant. The service was absolutely terrific and it had a very nice ambiance. My only quibble is the food. The apps were fine (cheese curds and buffalo cauliflower), but the Roanoke salad wasn't great - should have been closer to a cobb but the items included didn't really work together too well (between the honey dijon dressing and the dates, it was just too sweet instead of the expected savory; the feta cheese added literally nothing to the flavor, and the chicken was shredded instead of sliced, which made it difficult to mix and eat). One companion had the lasagna - the top looked a little tough and overcooked. The other companion had a combination of sides, since the menu doesn't offer many vegetarian options; these looked ok. It wasn't an unpleasant evening, but I doubt I'll ever return.

A very appealing dining room and bar set the stage for our meal at Roanoke. Although open since 2016 in its current incarnation, this was our first visit. It was a great alternative to some of the other loop dinner standbys. We were there on a weekend, early, for a pre-theater (Goodman) meal so the place wasn't too busy. We found the service to be prompt and responsive and chose to split a meal including the scallops and the chopped Asian salad (peanuts on the side no problem). Bar service, standard vodka martini and their Landmark old fashion, was also excellent and timed well with the meal.

Hit the spot. One of the few restaurants open on Sunday afternoon that we could make a reservation for. Food was fine but nothing exciting or exceptional
