The candle-lit room radiates modern romance, with Moroccan lamps and antique mirrors juxtaposed with an indie rock soundtrack, and can accommodate everything from date nights to small group dinners to large parties and buyouts. Don’t miss the patio, a Parisian-style oasis that’s a summertime favorite of locals and visitors alike.
I wish I never heard of this place. It was a waste of time and money. The food wasn't good and was over priced. DO NOT order the oysters. They have a pungent fishy taste. Not creamy and firm, and also not cleanly shucked. There were little shell bits and I had to be careful as I didn't know on the first oyster I had and bit down onto a a tiny shell piece.
We had also ordered salmon tartare and that was okay... it wasnt anything special but but it was fine. It gave me the impression of the chefs just dicing salmon up into pieces and just slapping it together. Overall a very underwhelming experience.
At the end we asked for the bill and it took 20 mins. To be honest we felt like no one pays attention around the restaurant, so if we left without paying it would be on them as they wouldn't notice.
A bit of advice, save yourself some money and pain of eating at RM and go to Au Cheval -- reservations recommended.
Only thing that was nice about RM was the ambiance. I would never come back or recommend this place. Why this place had good ratings and reviews is beyond me.
We arrived for our reservation and the restaurant was closed down with no notice.
Made brunch reservations weeks in advance.
Arrived right on time to find a shuttered restaurant with no sign of life and certainly no way of opening any time soon.
Fortunately there are many other great options in the neighbourhood.
RM wasn’t open. I was able to make the reservation online through open table and even received a confirmation. I was going to celebrate my friend’s birthday and was shocked when I walked up at 12:30 pm to find that the restaurant was closed. I didn’t receive a notification or anything. It was awful! Do not believe that you can make a reservation here or plan on any big celebrations. Terrible.
Had a reservation for brunch and got there and they were closed LOL.
Always great for a special occasion. They were unable to process credit cards so offered 20% off cash payments.
The outdoor patio was very run down and unorganized. The food was very mediocre for the price. Our server was very nice and helpful but other employees seem to focus more on having fun with each other than the customers
This restaurant accepted and confirmed a reservation for Sunday brunch but was closed when we arrived for our reservation.
It was closed when we arrived
You were not open but I was still able to make a reservation.
I had a 11:45AM reservation on Saturday and it was closed! Why would opentable has it available if it was closed??!?
We went at our time of reservations and restaurant was closed. Us and a lot of other people were left without knowing why they were closed. I called later and they were rude and hung up on me. Won’t recommend this place.
We showed up for our reservation and they weren’t even open! A few other people were annoyed to with the same issue.
The restaurant was closed and did not inform us they were closed. We showed up for our reservation and no one was there.
We booked a reservation for dinner, then when we got to the restaurant, they informed us they were only serving drinks, no food at all. Very disappointing to not have known this prior.
Came for mother's day brunch. The food, ambiance, service, and drinks were superb.
This place is tucked away down an alley. Very neat vibe. We had bloody marys and a "rainy day in paris"...this may have been the best drink I have ever had (cucumber vodka, prosecco, pineapple, something blue, omg). Not super expensive (11 or 12 a drink).
We had the lobster deviled eggs (!!!!) And avocado toast for appetizers. Both were delicious but oh my the deviled eggs...swoon. my friend and I split the mascarpone waffle and the rum banana french toast. Both were spectacular.
5/5 would HIGHLY recommend
We had a reservation and the hostess did not have it so they sat as at Nelcotte and we had a horrible dinner and service. I will not go back
Was only in town for three nights. Felt like we wasted our time here. The server wasn't helpful in selecting a bottle of champagne. When we selected a bottle he popped the cork so furiously that we lost at least half a glass, which spilled all over me. The server wasn't around much and seemed to disappear towards the end of our time there. The oysters were badly shucked and mangled. The cheese plate was seemingly lackluster - there was no explanation of what cheese were on the plate but they seemed like a Wallmart brand of parmesan, jack, blue, and something else. The "pay by cash and get 20% off" seemed odd.
Dinner — the room was too loud and noisy. My friends and I couldn’t hear each other.
Loved every second of at RM to celebrate my birthday! Great food, great ambiance and delicious drinks!
Cannot really review this place as they canceled our reservation! Had made a reservation for Sunday 04/28 to celebrate getting married the night before on 04/27. They said something about kitchen problems but I have never had this happen to me before, and it was certainly a bummer to have what was supposed to be a fun post-wedding treat canceled.
Eclectic atmosphere, friendly service, great drink options, good food
Food is delicious. Service is attentive, but not rushed. Issues are addressed and corrected immediately. Great cocktails. Will definitely be back.
Cool room, nice staff. But crazy loud. Like screaming across the table loud. Not a great place for a date during peak hours.
The food was great but it was far too loud in there, including the music. I felt like I had to shout across the table.
Go for happy hour for 1 dollar oysters. Food and service were overall fantastic
Went on a Wednesday night and the place was dead. Only 3 other tables occupied. Service was awful. The host/server didn’t even know there were dinner specials and couldn’t describe items on the menu. He literally read back to us the description listed on the menu. He was not attentive to clearing plates or checking in on us.
The food was good. I enjoyed most of what we ordered. Nothing was spectacular or award winning.
Ambience is cool but bad acoustics - There was one table of 7 and it felt like they were screaming.
Overall, I would not come back for dinning. Maybe to have a cocktail and sit outside because their outdoor space looked cool.
There were issues with getting our table on time, our server was not knowledgeable about the menu and we were given wrong items and things came at different times, causing an awkward timing for the evening, due to the fact that some had food, others didn’t, some did not have drinks yet, etc. Cute atmosphere but would not recommend to anyone I know!
Could be a tad brighter, but the service was excellent. My scallops were perfect
Great spot - close to West Loop strip, but just off the beaten path enough to have real charm. Food & service were great and GM Patrick is a pro - Always makes a difference when management is savvy enough to make patrons feel comfortable & valued. We'll be back...
Underwhelming, surprisingly very limited not great wine selection, order issues... decor is the best part about this place, far overpriced for what it was, wouldn't recommend
The food was delicious, except for the oysters. They were not properly cleaned!
Once you find it, down a walkway off the street, it’s a charming dining room. There is a beautiful bar and lovely fireplace. I love the decor, sort of old hippie style. As much as I loved the surrounding, the food was the star. The mussels are the best I’ve ever had, dipping bread in the sauce may have been my favorite thing. My husband had the steak frites, perfectly done. My half lobster with delicious dipping sauce along with a generous side of potato purée....made me very happy. We will be back, we want to try the brunch too. This was our 35th wedding anniversary, the crowd was a mix of all ages.
It is very loud and dark but besides that IT WAS AMAZING
Cauliflower was great!!! The Fromage Flatbread was dry, crunchy, and somewhat bland in flavor. The service is good, but if you’re sitting at the bar’s high-top tables, don’t expect your waiter to be checking in often. My friend and I actually had 3 different waiters check on us which was weird... but overall vibes of the restaurant is swanky and upbeat!
Romantic spot with an adequate menu. Emphasis is on the alcohol instead of food
This place is so cute inside, but our service sucked. Unfortunately, we were celebrating a birthday and it really put a damper on the experience.
Great for drinks but the food was awful and service was terrible. Will not be going back for food.
Prices are marked up too high. No champagne under $100. Service was just ok- expected so much more from this place.
