The restaurant declined to seat us outside, as reserved, stating they would close the patio at 7 pm. They didn't honor that: there were still many people out on the patio after 7 pm. Then, it took too long to place our orders, receive our orders, and follow up on our orders. I was disappointed in this visit. The restaurant was NOT crowded...no excuse.
The reviews of this restaurant were great and we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed. The chips were stale, the queso was cold and clumpy, and they do charge for salsa. The food was not bad but was also not great. I had the tilapia and found it bland. My husband ordered fajitas and found them to be “just okay.” Serving sizes were large, which was great! We did also have water refilled from the pitcher, which turned out to be Sprite. The restaurant itself was very clean and had a great ambiance and a great location. It is possible that they were just having a bad night but they were not busy at all, though sometimes the food is best when a restaurant is busy! We wanted to love this place but unfortunately it was a miss for us.
I have nothing to say
Server was so sweet, but the pace was slow, almost 2.5 hours. First round of drinks took 25 minutes. Food was fine, nothing bad to say there. They said they were able to split checks, but after 3 tries we just had someone put their card down and get an itemized receipt. All was fine until there were 4 extra entrees and 4 extra cocktails (2 of which were Don Julio 1942 shots, not cheap) were added to the ticket, almost an extra $110. Called and awaiting response on a refund for the extras.
Update: The refund process did not go well. After 4 phone calls, we were offered a $40 refund for over $110 worth of items we did not receive. Rating adjusted.
We came from out of town just to spend the weekend in Dallas to get away for a while. We went to RJs and it was absolutely amazing! The service was great, our waitress Kathy was so sweet and wonderful! She was on top of everything. The food and drinks were amazing!! Would deff go back again.
We waited 5mins before even being acknowledged, another 5 for the “hostess” to figure out where to seat us even tho the restaurant was no where near full. Table was dirty, waitress came to take order. Didn’t have a good sense of the menu, water came out in dirty cups. After the waitress took our order 2 other waiters came to try and take our order again. Everyone seemed new, service was terrible, food was nasty. Asked for an extra plate to split some food and the plate came out dirty. Maybe they need to shut down and actually train staff or find new management. Brought visiting fam here and it was a complete miss, will never dine here again.
The food was good but the waiter Juan was amazing and was very good at his job and very personable!
Awesome enchiladas and tilapia. Great service Pedro!
Will definitely be back!
Very friendly and attentive waitstaff. Food was delicious and prepared within a speedy time, but without hindering quality. The margaritas are delicious and strong.. they’ll definitely sneak up on you if you’re not careful, CHEERS!! We will be back.. can’t wait for another RJ’s date night experience...
It would have been nice to know. Only option I had was for 2, so I booked for 2 and called to update because my family needed more seats, only to be told no. A friend on the same day ordered a reservation for 6 and reservation was kept. Very poor experience for my family.
They did not have any tables available they were packed
Me and my fiancé went to RJs for a Valentine’s Day dinner and it was really everything we needed. The only thing I disliked was how cold it was in the restaurant but overall our experience and food was great
the food was good, service was good.
It’s exactly what I expected it to be, except dryer and darker.
Would I recommend it to a friend, yes, a really good friend, no.
Did I enjoy my meal? Yes. Would I come back, eh maybe in the daytime.
I enjoyed every bit of my date with my wife and look forward to visiting next time
The food was amazing per usual!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to RJ! The service was delightful and the food was delish. We'll definitely be back!
Wow this is an elegant and classy eatery-service was stellar and food was devine-can’t wait till next time.
The food is AMAZING from walking in the building the hospitality is very warming and Hands down the best food and Margaritas in Dallas If I could rate RJs 200000 stars I would! Everytime I come to Dallas this is a for sure stop can’t wait to come back.
Terrible experience. They tried to not seat us because our party of 10 was 4 minutes late.
Second year in a row we’ve had Christmas dinner at RJ’s and we had a great time! Dinner was delicious and the carrot cake for dessert was amazing! My Dad’s medium-well steak was cooked well, well done and he didn’t finish it (after I told him they had they best steaks I’ve had) so that and the waiter switching our credit card charges by accident (over $300 total bill but he corrected and we had to wait a few days for the incorrect charges to call off), it was amazing! Our waiter really did a great job and I’m very grateful that we were able dine out for Christmas dinner. Will hopefully make this yearly Christmas tradition. Love RJ’s!
There was a group of (what appeared to be drunk women) at the bar that were being very loud upon my arrival. I was seated right away which was a plus. My food was good. The chips were a little spicy for me but I loved the salsa. I was disappointed that they charge $2 for chips and salsa when every other Mexican restaurant I've ever been to gives it to you for free with your food.
Our waiter was so sweet and lovely, he made everything enjoyable. Food was good quality and tasty
Brought couple business clients here.
Tilapia Margarita did it.
Colin love the Carrot cakes..
Good food and good service. One of our favs! We'll be back!
Great place and reasonably priced.!
This was a great meal! We sat in the shady patio area And enjoyed all of the food!
We tried RJ’s based on the recommendation of an acquaintance. The guacamole was quite good, the chips were very average, and the fajitas were relatively mediocre, especially the chicken, which was dry and overcooked.
Great beef rib meal!
My son enjoyed the half chicken in mole sauce
and salad for his girlfriend.
Sunday afternoon meal. Many families there after we arrived.
Free flan for his birthday!
Although crowded and NYE, we were seated immediately because of out OpenTable reservation. The margaritas are tasty and strong. I had the tilapia while my partner had the mixed fajitas. Everything we ordered came out correctly and was delicious.
The staff we interacted with was attentive, friendly and were accommodating.
We’d chosen the restaurants because of the good reviews. But now we can’t understand why it got good reviews. The food wasn’t tasty it all. We’ve got the feeling that the restaurant used the closure of many others. It was simply overpriced for the quality of food they offered. Sorry, but we’ll not recommend or come back.
Caro, picana demasiado todo, no lo avisaron y 3 de los 6 que íbamos apenas comieron nada, lo dijimos y les dio igual, cobraron todo y con propina del 20% incluida sin preguntar. Muy mal, no volver, no ir
Great service, good value, average food (we had the fajita's - beef, chicken and shrimp). Restaurant on game night (during the game) was quiet and easy to access/park. Dining spot for family and/or business if a game is going on at Victory, since parking might be challenging if it was a late night/weekend.
Extra stars for service !
Great good -
Our server Amy was very attentive and the Manager, Bailey, was courteous and made excellent margaritas!
The food was fantastic. The service was terrible. Three people asked if we had menus, yet there was nothing on the table so it was pretty obvious. No ice in the water. We asked for a second basket of chips for our queso and it took three people to get it. Not really sure what was going on but thank God the food made up for it.
I wouldn’t consider this to be the best Mexican food in Dallas, but it was good for what it was. It’s pretty hard to mess up Tex Mex as my friend said. The margaritas (on the rocks) were too sweet, and the service was not as good as expected for a slow time of day. Wasn’t even offered to refill my water. Over all I think it’s a nice place for dining out on the patio when weather permits. I’d give it another chance in the future.
Arrived with a reservation and initially was turned away because the "system was down". We had just paid to UBER there and had cash so manager said he would take us. Only 3 tables were occupied. Ended up being GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD, and VERY NICE experience. Can't wait to come back. And the system came up during the time we were there, so we were able to use credit after all. Best Mexican food I've had in YEARS!
Average. Tough steak in fajitas. Small guacamole with a piece of plastic wrapping. (Comped it which was very nice ). Too sweet margaritas. Service ok. Later ( 8 pm on a school night ) so quite empty quiet. Booths uncomfortable with unstable tables.
