For a generation, Rivoli has promoted the singular talents of our Chef. The frequently changing menu is inspired by the bounty of the seasons and composed with a basic love of good food. Our Mid-Century Modern décor will slow the pace of your evening. Our intuitive service will indulge you. Enjoy a little respite from your day. We hope to see you soon at Rivoli.
A truly wonderful meal!
The trout was delicious and the gateau was heavenly!!
Lovely setting, delicious food, great service in this charming bistro.
Seated immediately next to lovely outdoor garden. Service was prompt and professional. Portobello appetizer was nice if perhaps not fully put together. Pork chop main was excellent, not over cooked and well seasoned. Excellent experience. Good selection of half bottles of wine. Quiet if you come early or late.
We were seated immediately even though we arrived 10 minutes early.
The staff was friendly and attentive, but not overly so.
We ordered one course at a time and everything was delivered in a timely manner.
The food was tasty, meaning very good!!
Looking forward to my next visit.
Had a deliciously memorable dinner at Rivoli which reminded us that we need to visit Rivoli more often. Everything was perfection, beautiful service, lovely flavors. Best hot fudge sundae anywhere!! We'll be back soon.
Highly recommend. Cozy restaurant, nice ambiance, great food and drink and super friendly staff!
We wanted to try a new place to celebrate my husband's birthday. Rivoli will now be a regular for us. From the minute we walked in we were treated as valued customers. The service was top notch from front desk to waiter to bus service. The meal and ambience outstanding. Highly recommend this special restaurant. Look forward to try sister restaurant too. Thank you.
Short menu, not enough red meat (none actually, if you consider a pork chop white meat), but very good
Our favorite restaurant in Berkeley. Never disappoints😀.
We are fairly "regulars" at Rivoli and it is consistently excellent. We started with order of oysters which had great flavor and firmness. The usual deviled eggs and steak tartare were for us lacking in their usual "bite", a bit bland. But the risotto and the 2x chicken were just so delicious. Thank you Rivoli for yet an excellent dinner.
Love this place. Favorite for all occasions in Berkeley
Nice neighborhood spot, very chic. I would go back again................................................................................................................
Service was above and beyond we had so much fun! The ambiance is elegant and fun. Quite enough to converse without shouting. Food was excellent. New flavors. Excellent wine pairing.
I regard the food at Rivoli to be reliably good. For the first time in a while, I felt disappointed by a dish we ordered: the lobster souffle. I ate there three weeks ago, and had the pecorino cheese souffle. The lobster souffle tastes just like that with a little lobster flavor but no detectable pieces of lobster. The dish definitely does not meet the expectations it creates. They should call it the lobster-flavored cheese souffle. Wish I'd got the soup instead. The rest of our food was just fine, though: Little Gem Salad, the shrimp and the swordfish, Chocolate Budino. Menu changes every three weeks but the same dishes do come back. Definitely advise against the lobster souffle. And I'll definitely be back to eat here again, no doubt about that. I consider Rivoli to be an Easy Bay gem!
Food was very good. Swordfish moist.
Cesar salad tasty.
Deviled eggs tasty.
NOW... only 2 waiters.
Tables too too close together, our waiters' butt was over our table whenever he was at the next table. Too noisy had to lean forward and shout, there was a lot of "hand cupped at the ear" while talking.
Mains too small, desests too big. Food is good, but not memorable.
Top restaurant in the East Bay. Love it. It's warm and quiet, friendly, and the food is delicious. Love Corso, too. Never disappoints.
Friendly neighborhood restaurant with inventive food and a lovely back garden view.
We have been enjoying meals at Rivoli for many years. The dining room with its wall of glass overlooking a lovely garden is elegant and sets the tone for the restaurant. This past Friday we joined a friend for dinner who also has enjoyed the restaurant for many years. The food was, as always, excellent and the ambiance promised relaxation. This time, though, we had a waiter who was boisterous and repeatedly intrusive. I think he was trying to be friendly, but he could not read any cues about what was welcome and what was not. Our group was three professional women, very engaged in conversation and intent on hearing each other. He would interrupt frequently for no good reason. It was jarring, especially compared to what we were used to at Rivoli. He also didn't seem well informed. I ordered a glass of Crement as an aperitif. He said, yeah, champagne. Well, no, not really.
The food was delicious, well thought out with wonderful touches. My husband had the lamb shank which was so scrumptious and super tender. I had risotto with chicken & prosciutto meatballs which included a delightful crunch from the added hazelnuts and some surprise subtle citrus notes--from finger limes maybe? Of course the garden view is so unique and intimate.
Love this restaurant! Still one of my favorites. Our dining experience was enhanced by the excellent service, quiet ambience with a view of a garden through the large plate glass window, and friendly staff. The two of us started with the fried portobello which was yummy as usual. Then we went to the lobster souffle, the flavor of which was overpowered by an intense citrus coulis. We could not discern any lobster, which was disappointing. The scallops were the star - day boats perfectly cooked and served with scrumptious curry butternut squash. We savored each bite. The sparkling wine and French chardonnay by the glass were not as pleasing as the food, but they were well-priced. We did not leave a single morsel of food behind, including the gateau Basque dessert.
The food was so good and our waiter was a character.
Good food, small space with a glass wall to garden that makes it feel more open. Very tight seating, and very noisy so you don't hear the next table's conversations clearly, but also hard to talk across our own table.
I don’t think I’ll dine alone again - service much better if you’re with someone else.
Amazing food. Every time. Every dish. My favorite special event restaurant.
Lovely evening, fantastic service, delicious food with a menu suitable for a variety of tastes & preferences. Appreciated not being rushed and having the meal well paced.
The food is simply the best--great flavors, ingenuity with seasonal ingredients, blends of cuisines. If you want a jumping, lively scene featuring the latest trends in food and cocktails (a fine thing to want), and a hipster crowd, go somewhere else. If you want superb cooking and service, and a relatively quiet atmosphere for conversation, go to Rivoli.
Birthday. Swordfish sent back as undercooked. Still undercooked. Artichoke soup delicious.
My favorite restaurant for the last 20 some years since they opened. Look forward to trying every new menu.
We had a great dinner with a very inventive and appealing menu. We had appetizers, artichoke soup, portobello fritters, which were very flavorful, followed by ravioli, chicken prosciutto meatballs in risotto and day boat scallops. No one had any complaints. We had the budino choc cake, and Meyer lemon cheesecake for. Dessert. Lovely setting, excellent attentive service, quality from start to finish.
After 20+ years, we have been back twice in the past month and will be there again soon. Our new favorite place.
It was very good in so many ways but the best part was my wife loved it so very much and since i found the place and the service was outstounding along with her meal, i gained more respect and love because i just love places that care, and this was one of them, so please keep up the great work and do me a favor, make some rib dinner plates or some pork shoulder , then you will have me even more happier, and we will be back alot sooner, just do what you do and thank you for a great dinner and time spent....
Everything was very flavorful, subtle and satisfying Ambiance was relaxing and elegant.
I have loved Rivoli for a long time. It is one of our special occasion go-to spots. I had a dear old friend in town and wanted to treat her. I was disappointed by my meal - mushroom fritters (?) and a fish. The mushrooms were tough and nearly tasteless except the batter. And the fish was really nothing to write home about. My first disappointing meal there. I'll go back because of my years of joy there. Maybe an off night?
Always superb, with a varied menu, excelling in first courses and locally sourced ingredients!
The food was great, the ambience was great. I would absolutely go back.
Are you kidding? Out of this world. Great service from Sarah. Succulent sea bass. Flat iron steak to perfection on a bed of baked polenta, spinach, a little sauce with crunchy bread crumbs. Wow!
Loved the food and Henry was a great server. I can’t wait to go back soon!
Knowledgeable staff. Cuisine to die for! Moonraker drink delicious!!! We will go again.
I’ve been there sooooooooooo many timesssss. Soooo great
