For a generation, Rivoli has promoted the singular talents of our Chef. The frequently changing menu is inspired by the bounty of the seasons and composed with a basic love of good food. Our Mid-Century Modern décor will slow the pace of your evening. Our intuitive service will indulge you. Enjoy a little respite from your day. We hope to see you soon at Rivoli.
We had a great dinner with a very inventive and appealing menu. We had appetizers, artichoke soup, portobello fritters, which were very flavorful, followed by ravioli, chicken prosciutto meatballs in risotto and day boat scallops. No one had any complaints. We had the budino choc cake, and Meyer lemon cheesecake for. Dessert. Lovely setting, excellent attentive service, quality from start to finish.
After 20+ years, we have been back twice in the past month and will be there again soon. Our new favorite place.
It was very good in so many ways but the best part was my wife loved it so very much and since i found the place and the service was outstounding along with her meal, i gained more respect and love because i just love places that care, and this was one of them, so please keep up the great work and do me a favor, make some rib dinner plates or some pork shoulder , then you will have me even more happier, and we will be back alot sooner, just do what you do and thank you for a great dinner and time spent....
Everything was very flavorful, subtle and satisfying Ambiance was relaxing and elegant.
Always superb, with a varied menu, excelling in first courses and locally sourced ingredients!
The food was great, the ambience was great. I would absolutely go back.
Are you kidding? Out of this world. Great service from Sarah. Succulent sea bass. Flat iron steak to perfection on a bed of baked polenta, spinach, a little sauce with crunchy bread crumbs. Wow!
Loved the food and Henry was a great server. I can’t wait to go back soon!
Knowledgeable staff. Cuisine to die for! Moonraker drink delicious!!! We will go again.
I’ve been there sooooooooooo many timesssss. Soooo great
We were 3 friends getting together with a friend traveling from Florida. We wanted time to chat ...to take our time. Our waitress understood that and was very charming, attentive and added some fun to our table.
We shared the portobella fritters, the little gems, the crab and avocado toasts. We ordered 4 mains, two were the skirt steak, one the chicken, and one the bass. All of us shared bites of these and we all loved our meals.
A nice gentleman joined us and asked about our experience and we laughed and told Hamilton stories.
What a wonderful place, a wonderful staff and overall wonderful experience.
Thank you very much!
I was treated for my birthday so I don't know about the "value for money" question on the previous page but it wouldn't let me continue without giving some response to that question so I just made one up.
Rivoli is nothing if not consistent. The Pecorino soufflé with burnt pear appetizer is a work of art. Artfully created cocktails following a Mardi Gras theme. However, this time, a minor complaint: the striped Seabass was overcooked. Still a delightful meal and evening.
Food is consistently good. Service is excellent. We were there on a Monday night and it was packed. I had the lasagna, my wife had the sea bass. Artichoke soup was excellent. Sorbet dessert was also very good. Rivoli and Juanita and Maude are the best restaurants in this neighborhood.
Lovely spot with good food and great service
We had a wonderful date night at Rivoli. We made a reservation but since we had to wait a little while to be seated, we were offered complimentary champagne. Everyone was exceptionally attentive and lovely. All the food we had was amazing. Steak tartare bites, deviled eggs, crab and avocado toast, sea bass! All yummy! We also had the mushroom fritters after reading about them on the plaque on the wall near the bar - but out of all the dishes this one didn't shine as much. I would pass on the fritters next time for some of the other appetizers. Can't wait to go back!
All the staff were very welcoming and focused on customer service. There is a very small area at the entrance with a few tables and the bar. Dining is past the open kitchen to a nice room overlooking a beautiful garden.
We split a starter, had fish with asparagus and mashed potatoes, and split a cheesecake for dessert. All the food and service was excellent, not a false note anywhere.
I have been going to Rivoli with friends for years. It is always a special experience and I go usually with the same company adding some new diners here and there. The staff is always exceptional! We love to get starters, the Caesar salad, entrees and desserts. The beef this time was tough but still tasty-till not really exceptional as most of your entrees are. The main lobster risotto and striped bass was excellent! We always get the table favorite - Mushroom Fritters which one of my friend's adores but they are getting a bit rich for me. For dessert we got the standard hot fudge sundae we love! Our waiter recommended the Gateau Basque-oh my! it was amazing! I regret I did not get our waiters name as we usually do but he was excellent! Keep him! I always recommend Rivoli. Actually this time client's of mine loved a trip I planned for them and gave me a very generous gift certificate. they researched the restaurant (they live in Canada), not knowing it is one of my favorites. You're the best Rivoli! thanks for a lovely evening with my two best friends from high school and collage.
I must say that the food was outstanding. We absolutely loved everything.....except the skirt steak.
It was so great, but it was not served hot. I mentioned this to the server and he took it back. Took a while
for it to return and when it came back it still wasn't hot in temperature. My three guests by that time were
almost done and so i decided just to make the best of it. The server did come back over to make sure it was
perfect, but at that point.... I decided to drop it, not embarass my son and just tell him it was great. The quality of the steak and the sauce and the polenta were all great, I just would have loved it to have been served hot.
This is one of the very few restaurants that has never disappointed me in any way!
Rivoli has been one of my favorite Bay Area restaurants for many years. Despite the absence of the awesome animal show in the beautiful illuminated garden which was extraordinary, the food, ambiance and service continue to be exceptional. This is a rare feat and a testament to the sustained high standard of excellence that has been maintained. I went to celebrate a friend's birthday on a recent rainy Monday night and we all agreed on how wonderful everything was. Kudos and congratulations to the entire staff and management. I'm very grateful to have this fine restaurant still available. May you prosper for many years more!
Rivoli has become one of our favorite neighborhood gems. We especially love the lobster risotto. They give you more than you can eat, making it a great value. Dining area can be noisy at times but overall the experience, for couples, is a good romantic night out.
As with previous visits, we had a lovely delayed Valentines Day dinner on Saturday. In particular, our server paced the meal perfectly. The soufflé appetizer and the sea bass entree were notable. Worth a visit!
We love going to Rivoli, it's a great dining experience.
It was wonderful! Food was great and the waitress was so friendly and welcoming. It was my first visit to the restaurant recommended by a friend, and I think it'll be my favorite restaurant. Also, the garden outside is so calming and nice.
Great place. On the expensive side
Always exceptional food and service. Menu was fresh and fun. The deviled eggs were unexpected and quite good as was the crab/avocado toast. Both the sea bass and flat iron steak were well prepared and nice accompaniments. The gateau for desert finished an excellent meal. The server was helpful, pleasant and unobtrusive.
Been coming here fo 17 years, and it never disappoints. I’d say this was my best meal there in a while. The pecorino souffle and the bass with maitake and madeira cream sauce were among the best things I’ve eaten anywhere in the last year. My nitpick is that I didn’t really like any of the 3 wines I tasted. There were all a bit one-note for me. Definitely don’t get the Rousanne.
This is a perfect dining experience. We love going back.
Great menu. Excellent service, unique dining roomuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Appetizers and starters were amazing. Loved the artichoke soup and portabella fritters. Main courses were a bit disappointing, especially the lobster risotto. It was oozing butter and I couldn't finish eating it. The rice felt a tad undercooked and lobster was dry. I was disappointed to say the least. Overall service was friendly and prompt. Ambience is good, but was a tad noisy especially since we were sitting near the kitchen.
Rivoli has been our favorite neighborhood restaurant for many years, with quality to match the best of the best. there was a blip several years ago when Wendy Brucker tried to retire from the kitchen, and those days are far behind us. Since Wendy returned, the restaurant is better than ever. Roscoe is a gracious and affable host, and all of the staff are very welcoming.
We celebrated my daughter's birthday on this occasion. Rivoli is a restaurant we have gone to for many decades to celebrate our special family events. The food is always wonderful, and the garden creates such a peaceful feeling, even though the dining room is always very busy and bustling. Somehow the wait staff manage to make one feel special and cared for, even though their work is like a careful choreography of dances to avoid each other and the patrons moving around. It still always feel like the table is calm and one is cared for. Even needs are often anticipated, which is such a beautiful thing, compared to many restaurants where getting help is like trying to flag down a taxi. I love this restaurant.
We are very happy with our local chef and her excellent work which has graced the community of Berkeley for many years
Rivoli was the neighborhood gem spectacular experience it always is. Delicious, imaginative, warm, and fun. Loved the library wine section on the menu. Our 1976 bottle of a Napa classic was special.
Nice way to spend a Friday night! Menu is small but our experience overall was great!
A great place to go for special events, especially for couples. Relatively quiet, comfortable, ambiance, unique and carefully prepared dishes that are a cut above. Prices not for everyone.
Always a great time, please keep the portabella mushrooms & deviled eggs coming they are the best.
Had the lamb and stripped bass and both were outstanding.
You never can miss with the hot fudge sunday for dessert.
Keep up the good work.
Excellent cocktails food and service. Flat out excellent.
