We went to the Riverwalk Restaurant after touring Yorktown - late lunch around 3:45 pm. We started with the crispiest calamari and creamy sauce - so yummy - of course wine as well. Then, I had the special which was the soft shelled crab - do good and beautiful. My dad had the black rock fish - it was so delicate - and seasoned perfectly. My husband had the cob salad - which he felt was healthy - ok. All was great and ambiance beautiful! The top of it all was the peach cobbler that was cooked in a cast iron skillet and brought to us with ice cream on top!
We formerly lived in the Yorktown area and always enjoyed the Riverwalk Restaurant. However, since moving we have not been as often as before. On this occasion we were getting together with an old friend from the area. The food and service were great, as we remembered them. We have now promised ourselves that it won't be as long before we return again.
Three of us went to Riverwalk for lunch. We each only had a cup of soup, an appetizer and a glass of wine each and the bill was over $90 not including the tip, so I would not recommend it if you are looking for something economical. However, the food we had was excellent, the river view and weather on the patio very pleasant, and the waitress couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. So, overall, except for the price, it was a great experience.
We were there for Morher’s Day buffet. It was an average variety on the buffet, let than I expected. A little disappointed.
Solidly inoffensive and mediocre. This is where you take grandma so she doesn't have to be challenged by weird ingredients or actual flavor.
Unfortunately for the restaurant, we made reservations on Mother's Day through the OpenTable app. What the app didn't "know" was that on this very busy day, Riverwalk Restaurant was not serving their usual menu, but rather a seafood buffet. This might have been great for most people, but we do not eat seafood. This reservation, getting "dolled up", making the drive was all wasted and we had to leave. The waiter tried to see if the manager could make an exception to allow us to order from the typical menu, but there was no exception made for us. We regretfully had to leave. This was a huge disappointment. We eat here often enough to know it is a great place to eat, but on this special occasion we found there were details we were not made aware of. Lesson learned, call for reservations and watch the website for things like this.
Disappointing. This is our third Mother's Day Buffet at Riverwalk, and the least impressive. The lamb chops looked like they'd been sitting for hours, and tasted that way too. Pastas were sitting out too long as were some of the side dishes. In general, the food was not consistent with the quality we have previously enjoyed.
Mother's day buffet was not expected. Would have preferred to order off the menu instead. Especially since I'm not a buffet fan. Food was okay.
We went to the restaurant for Mother's Day meal it was a buffet food was okay the the service was good no complaints there wish they would have been able to order from the menu in lieu of just the buffet but I want to know I read it about a two and a half 3
The food was not great, especially for the price. It was very mediocre. We sat on the patio, so we had a nice view and a great waitress. The only thing that was outstanding was the blueberry cobbler.
Have been to Mother's Day buffet before, but the food selection and quality pales compared to previous experiences. The menu was limited in selection and was not worth $42. Also, usually at these types of buffets there is an open selection of desserts. Here there were only 4 and you didn't see them until you ordered them. Size and quality were limited and disappointing. For $42 I expected a greater choice, visibility, and quantity
We really like going to the Riverwalk for special occasions. This time was for Mother's Day brunch. The brunch was outstanding. It consisted of an omelet bar, breakfast bar, carving station, shrimp, oysters on the half shell, various side dishes and a variety of desserts. The menu was a set buffet at a very reasonable price. Reservations are a must and don't arrive early as you will be sat at your appointed time. The service staff is friendly and very professional. Note that parking is limited in the Riverwalk area so allow time to find suitable parking.
For Mother’s Day we chose what we thought would be a lovely location/meal. It was a sunny day so when asked for seating inside or out, we choose outside. After being seated, we waiting for 10 minutes for someone to greet us. I went to a waitress in our area and asked if she was our waitress and she said no but that we needed to be seated to get a plate for the buffet. So we waited...finally, we received a buffet plate and glasses of water and went to the buffet - which was in a side room that we had to find ourselves. The food was fine but had not been recently replenished so we picked around the food offered. In order to get a new plate, we had to once again wait an eternity for our waitress to bring one - and the old ones weren’t removed. Coffee and tea were extra (really?) and the dessert selection was offered and were half portions. Lackluster flavor. Seriously, if you are trying to add cost saving features like forcing the wait for plates and mini desserts, I won’t be back. Sad meal and service.
A bit of a wait even with reservations; however, given that it was graduation weekend, that was reasonable. Staff was very attentive and food was excellent. Wonderful views both inside and outside of water. A bit of a touristy feel and cost; however, food was excellent.
A place to return to with family, friends or your favorite person. If you can, request Brandy as your server. Despite a significant parking problem, Brandi made our dinner a delight, memorable and fun. Food was prepared perfectly.
We were celebrating our friend’s daughter graduation from William and Mary. We were very pleased by everything but the lack of parking. We had to park at the top of the hill and walk about a half mile. Everything else was great!
We went to River Walk restaurant for my college graduation lunch after going several times prior and having great experiences. This time, however, was very sub-par. Even after making reservations a month in advance, they sat all 7 of us outside in 90 degree weather (with tables still open inside). Then, after ordering our entrees, we waited more than an hour for our food to be served. The food was great, however. In all, they should have been more prepared for a busy graduation weekend. Will come back, but with lower expectations, unfortunately.
Fantastic day or night water views of the Coleman Memorial Bridge and the York River! In good weather, the outdoor tables are exceptional and provide great "people-watching" opportunities. The service is fast, accurate and thoughtful. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. With soft background music, our dining experience was a pleasure -- we could actually hear our conversation! We will definitely return to the Riverwalk for an experience in fine dining!
I have been to this restaurant, many times and have never been disappointed! We had friends visiting from Idaho and this was the only restaurant they asked to go back to. Great service and overflowing plates of food will give you an enjoyable evening.
Great food, great environment, great staff. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and was not disappointed. I had the elk chops and she had the bourbon steak, and both finished with the key lime pie. Absolutely amazing.
Pros: Food was very good, location was excellent, server was attentive and friendly. Main courses were very good. Calamari was outstanding.
Cons: Fly control - constant nuisance at our table, specialty drinks were mediocre, crab cake appetizer was very over priced, two crab cakes the size of a half dollar coin was $20.00. Each crab cake was two small bites at best. Value for the money.
If it were not for the view of the river - which you pay for in the price of your food and drink, I would compare this to an average/slightly above average, non chain steak and seafood restaurant.
We had an amazing time; RiverWalk NEVER disappoints.
The seafood tower price went up to $70 from March this year price was $45!! It's not listed on the menu but come on, they put a different type of crab and it was dry to charge $25 more?!?! Sure won't be going back for that seafood tower!
We come here every year for our Anniversary and it's always wonderful!
It was quiet, I made reservation but that was not necessary it had plenty available space. You could see the view from my table but you can see it at any table really. Not bad food I had the Salmon. Overall okay not spectacular.
On vacation and hit twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. Great waterfront and worth the drive from Colonial Williamsburg. Crab cakes were fantastic.
Lovely experience, nice atmosphere, great food
Four of us ate at Riverwalk for 'Sunday brunch.' I had researched brunch menus online before choosing Riverwalk, and the menu I saw was for an extensive buffet with breakfast choices, a carving station, and other lunch choices. However, when we were seated we were give the regular menu and a one-sheet 'brunch' menu, with four items on it. I was very disappointed that the Sunday brunch buffet I had expected was not offered. The food we had was good, and the view was nice. Service got slower and slower as the meal went on. If we go back, it'll be for lunch, but certainly not for a Sunday brunch!
Wonderful restaurant and atmosphere with river views. Only upscale dining that I could find that offers a kids menu which I very much appreciate when we want to treat our children (and ourselves) to a nice dinner.
Met a dear friend here and the lunch was superb. Great view of the water and terrific service. The caprese salad to die for.
We were at Riverwalk for a Sunday lunch. Great service, fantastic food, terrific view of the river. Prices are a little high, but not outrageous. Definitely will return for another round!
Service was slow and food overpriced. The waiter was nice. 1st and last time eating here
The food was overcooked or sat under heat lamp too long. Overhead lights on the patio turned on and off, and staff said they were run by the city utility and there was nothing they could do. It was super distracting when you could see for 30 seconds and then went to almost dark for another 30 seconds. Candles on the tables could have helped.
We had a lovely lunch on the terrace overlooking the York River. Food and drinks were both delicious. Service was great.
Could have been better, service was so slow and the place was not full of people and it still took forever. Pretty place though, will not be going back.
We had a lovely salmon salad for lunch facing the water. Salad was super with blueberries, strawberries, walnuts, apples, greens and a light dressing. Salmon could have been more flavorful, but, all in all a lovely lunch. The lovers lemonade is also good! If you are in Jamestown or Yorktown, this is a nice spot for lunch or dinner.
My wife and I really love this restaurant. We've been a number of times and always had a great experience. The food is high quality, service is great, the and view/ambiance cannot be beat. Definitely recommended.
Great food and great service. A nice surprise after a day sightseeing. I especially loved the paleo options! Menu choices with spaghetti squash and zucchini noodles were very much appreciated. xo
Very nice view. Food and service were lacking. Not sure if this was just an off night. Food came out cold, water glasses were empty , bread had to be asked for and the list goes on. When paying +$30 for entree I expect good tasting food and service. The fish was mediocre and also cold. sent it back for heating the fish came out Warm at best the second time all the condiments were hot. They did not remake the fish they just warmed it up , not acceptable. They tried to recover with 20% off the bill which is very nice but reality doesn’t fix it.
Location was good with free covered parking. View was scenic. Visited Sunday and didn't know it was brunch buffet only until after we were seated. Nothing on website regarding this. Stayed anyway. Very nice brunch selection. Everything was good but hot foods were lukewarm. Dessert that came with brunch buffet was just a bite or two---literally. Service was average at best.
