This has become a favorite for special occasions and this visit didn't disappoint! Wonderful food and beautiful ambiance. Nestled in the evergreen forest on the bank of the Sandy River, this is a beautiful spot!

Very disappointing. The kitchen destroyed not one, but two, Kobe top sirloin steaks. The first one was over-cooked -- ordered medium-rare, served medium-well and also came with a sauce that was specifically requested to be held. The replacement was a disgusting cut with a large tendon running through the center, and carelessly overcooked as well. The service was however, commendable. They did not charge us for the steak. Nevertheless, it was a relatively simple order at a restaurant with a medium-high price tag and a respectable reputation.
We will not be returning, nor can we recommend this restaurant to friends or visitors. With the understanding that our city is becoming one of the food centers in the country, The Riverview needs to straighten out a kitchen that cannot deliver a simple steak or they will not survive against the level of cuisine being offered throughout the Portland area.

Food and atmosphere was pretty good. The server somehow ignored my table. Maybe he was more interested in serving white customers. My glass was empty for 20 minutes, and finally I had to ask for a refill. No napkin was provided, and I had to use napkins on the next table. I would not recommend it unless there is a promotion.

Came due to their GroupOn so the meal was somewhat fixed 4-course dinner with a couple choices at each course. We will be back! Brian did a terrific job of making some recommendations for wine and serving us and we will ask for him by name in the future. Special props to their bar as they had Fort George Cavatica Stout on tap (fantastic beer) and a couple other nice choices to boot.

The service was really good, our waiter was very attentive. My only complain was our dessert. We had creme brulee, which was very runny and presentation was not good. The chocolate dessert was very dry but good presentation. Overall, it was not bad.

Have been to this restaurant 7 times before and referred many of our friends. Sunday eve our experience was not like the usual great food or service. 40 Min between courses, no salt or pepper on the table and we weren't asked if we want fresh ground pepper on our salads. Our waiter disappeared for over 3o minutes so hard to get service. The ravioli was drenched in oil and like leather on the bottom from sitting too long on the hot plate. And the chocolate cake which we took home was in 3 pieces. Not sure if they were understaffed or what because this was unusual. If this had been our first time there we would not return. However, we will return once more and hope for a better outcome.

This restrauant is in our Neighborhood and feel very fortunate to have such a great quality dining experience so close to home. The food is always great and the service top notch. We have not been there in several months and yet our waiter remembered us and was very attentive. We were there on a Tuesday evening for our Anniversary dinner just a few other diners so it was quiet and cozy

We purchased a Groupon to enjoy a four course meal for two. We had a romantic seat next to a fireplace. Our service was excellent and the food was creative and wonderful. A great "date" restaurant that is romantic and very quiet. We were the last ones to leave and we never felt rushed. We will be back.

Beautiful location, clean, terrific food. Staff is amazing. We had our 1mth old with us and she was fussy, the hostess provided a sling for the baby carrier so she could be right at table height with us and even offered to sit with her while we ate. The wait staff was attentive and observant as they waited to bring courses of our meal between feeding and comforting our daughter. The creme brulee and chocolate decadence were to die for and the house drink "the Riverview" was delicious and refreshing. A+

It's a shame to see how this restaurant has gone downhill. Our last two visits were mediocre. I highly doubt we will be back. Maybe next summer for happy hour on the deck. They seem to get that right. Some items are still good like the calamari, but don't order a steak. I had the prime rib and it was completely inedible. It was grey, overcooked and chewy. Like it had sat out all day. Poor quality cut, topped with a poor preparation. The mash potatoes were a super stiff starchy glob. I pushed my plate aside, and watched my husband eat his dinner which he shared bites with me, since our server never returned to see how our meals were. The little loaf of bread had collapsed prior to baking, yet they felt it was still OK to serve it. They removed the cost of my inedible prime rib dinner. For a Friday night the restaurant had only a few diners. Makes sense. I wanted it to be better from our last visit. It wasn't.

Always great at Riverview. Due to chilly weather we were seated inside at our request. A different but enjoyable experience. The food, of course, was a delight for my group. Please see my other reviews of Riverview.

We had a very nice dinner. Our service wasn't perfect. They were busy, so long periods of time went by between courses and didn't see anyone to stop to ask for more water or more bread or to remove our plates when finished. I don't think that is customary. Other than that is was a wonderful night out! We were there on a Wednesday with no piano music on that night. Next time I will make sure we go on a night when there is a pianist.

We've been here before and food was great. We bought a groupon for the last visit and the brisket was so fatty we couldn't eat it, but the rest of the meal was great. The service was pleasant, but it was a 2 hour dining experience. We saw other couples arrive and leave, ordering the same Groupon deal. Server was nice, just beyond slow. 20 to 30 minutes between courses.

Riverview?? Not unless you are lucky enough to be seated on the deck. Inside we were seated at the window and still could not see the river. When we came in they said they had no outside seating left. While we waited for our inside table to be prepared a couple came in and were seated outside! They even told someone that they could not reserve an outside table. When we were seated there were still a couple tables outside but we were not good enough to be seated there I suppose. The food was good and service was adequate. We were never offered a wine list or any kind of beverage menu and our food menu did not have any beverages listed so they lost out there and were just had water. The live piano music was nice and not too loud so that we could not hear each other. All in all a nice experience there, but could have been better.
