Usually excellent service but today was terrible. Reservation at 1.. didn't sit until 1:20. Actually got there at 12:30 and asked for umbrella over table.. they had no one there to move them. No ice with the water which was warm. Step mother didn't get Lenin she asked for. Didn't get refills. Asked for wellb dinner fries. They were child.. and reorder never came out.
I took my mom to Rivertail for an early Mother’s Day dinner. First they sat us at table that had a massive utility fan blowing at top speed on us. Everything on our table was blowing away. Then we ordered snapper (if there is anything you do in your life DONT order the snapper) can you say salty, DRY, overcooked...it looked like a DRIED chicken breast. We ordered two different sauces mine was a miso sauce which was basically Kikoman soy sauce (nothing to it). My mom ordered the lemon caper sauce it had no lemon and no capers. We ordered the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts which were ok but the high powered fan blowing us away the side dishes became ice cold...which made it inedible. Who wants to eat cold mashed potatoes with dried chicken breast trying to be disguised as snapper. Do yourself a favor, do not go...run in the opposite direction
Poor quality and overpriced - avoid at all cost. Poor crab legs that cost $50. Kale salad that was garbage and Mahi Mahi that was a frozen fillet. Extremely disappointing
Our sever, Tony, was super amazing: made great recommendations, was really sweet to our seven year old daughter...really connected. Food is unique and really tasty!!!
Happy hour was amazing! Staff was on top of everything, and the food was delicious. It’s a bit pricey, but for great food it’s worth it. I’ll be returning for happy hour again!
Service sucked. We only say the waiter a few times
$50 for what was supposed to be a king crab leg. I’ve eaten a lot of king crab legs in the past and the “leg” I got was more like what I would expect from a Snow Crab leg, very disappointing!! I also LOVE clam chowder but the Rivertail Chowder they serve was basically potato soup and very thick. I searched all through my cup of chowder and did not find any chunks of any meat including clams, bacon or even white fish. We won’t go back!!
The broiled oysters were a perfect start to our meal. Also, Don’t underestimate the stew as an entree, it was delicious!
Great ambiance on a Sunday night!
Our server was amazing.
We were disappointed in the lack of offerings for all food preferences (we preferred not fried).
Also- how were they out of anything lobster and why wasn’t that posted prior to us sitting down??
It first started by us waiting almost 20 mins to be seated (even with reservations ) on the outside which is a basic 2 chairs and small table set up. We got a dozen oysters as appetizers which were very small. My husband got the snapper filet which was pretty good. I got the mussels on the chefs specials however they were very sandy which was a big turn off to me. I ate 5/6 and left the rest the waitress didn’t even notice/asked if something was wrong (I’m not one to really complain, I would just pay my bill and never return.) Decided not to order dessert because everything is a wait. The ambience may have been better if we were seated inside but as we sat on walkway outside of the restaurant it was loud with the bar next door as well as the boats/drawbridge right next door. Also the smell of diesel wasn’t ideal.
Maybe this place would be a good lunch spot but for me I wouldn’t return, it’s not worth it for the price and lack of service.
Outstanding service from our server Ali
Our waitress, Allie, was superb - friendly, informative and attentive. The ambience is great as long as you sit on the river walk. The patio under roof was all little noisy. Food quite good and happy hour drinks were a plus. Altogether. Delightful reasonably priced restaurant with great service.
Great atmosphere! Food was great and loved the DJ.
Great setting on the river
Meal was expensive as all the sides were a la carte
Everything was good but they are a bit short on staff. Be patient.
The place is nice, music and food is good.
Thank you so much for the great review! We greatly appreciate your understanding and we are so happy you enjoyed the music and the food. We hope to see you again soon!
Very overpriced for mediocre food quality
Place looks dirty
No ambiance at all
Food tastes terrible
If they want to charge that much they should up their game otherwise make up your mind and stay as a mid low price sports bar with bad food
Waiter was not helpful
The ambiance and decor is beautiful. But the menu is lame for the prices and offerings.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Elle. We are so happy you enjoyed the ambiance and the decor but we are disappointed you did not enjoy the menu options. We have shared your feedback with our management team so we may do our best to work to improve. We hope you will give us another opportunity to impress you!
Ate brunch at the outside bar. Vibrant atmosphere. Nicely diversified menu especially for Sunday Brunch. Oysters were good. Might well return.
Such a great experience. Food was fresh, drinks were great. And the view was amazing.
Thank you so much for the five-star review, abby! We are so happy you enjoyed your experience with us from the food to the drinks. It was a pleasure having you and we look forward to your next visit!
Excellent service with Sophia. Food was incredible. Drinks over the top with spicy bloody Mary's of choice. Will definitely ho back!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, Jim! We are thrilled you enjoyed your dining experience with us. We will share your kind words with Sophia and we look forward to your next visit!
Restaurant is in a great location with inside and outside seating. It was a good menu with good selections. The two fish dishes that were ordered had a very small portion of fish, but the food was tasty. The clam chowder was a great choice. The service was very good. We enjoyed our waiter.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, karen. We loved reading about your time with us and have shared your feedback with our team so we may work to improve. It was a pleasure serving you and we hope to see you again soon!
Been there many times and loved it. Last night I went for dinner and left my sunglasses, I left late, in the pics you can see them they were never turned in as I called today and they told me that pretty much to forget about it. The girl didn’t even make an effort to go ask and find out or if too busy ask for a number to call back.
Probably one of my biggest disappointments in a long time. Looking at the menu, we were very excited as there are many unique items. The ambience is what first drew us to Rivertail, as it sits right on the waterway just south of Las Olas...needless to say the atmosphere was spectacular. We ordered drinks to start and placed order for three appetizers, the cornbread, broiled oyster "concha" and fish dip. Then we waited...and waited and waited...Finally our waiter Juan returned with 3 of our 4 drinks and informed me they didn't have the bourbon I ordered (very unusual to not have this in stock) so I ordered another...then we waited and waited...we couldn't really understand the delay as it wasn't busy...finally my drink arrived along with our appetizers...the corn bread was cold, the oysters were so small we were shocked and the fish dip had no flavor. We realized then we had made a mistake...our waiter was hard to locate and had to ask another to send him over so we could order more drinks, he asked how the food was, we gave him our honest opinion, and all he could say was hmmm....that was it,.,.,As if we were the issue...We ordered salmon, swordfish, two pasta dinners and two sides...the brussels sprouts and corn...we waited...and waited.,....finally the food arrived...pasta wasn't fully cooked and barely warm...the fish dishes were fine, the brussels sprouts were bland...the corn was excellent. The waiter finally showed back up, ASKED us how dinner was, we told him it was disappointing and that was all...he never said let me have you to speak to a manager, nothing...the best part was the coffee was hot...we paid our significant bill and Rivertail is a hard PASS!.
First time at Rivertail, and it was a memorable dinner. We had four people, two had the Brazilian Stew, which tasted divine, and the other two had fresh fish. We started with Ceviche and conch fritters, both of which were delicious.
The ambiance is very sexy at Rivertail. The Dj and outside seating were the perfect setting for people watching and lounging without the large crowds. Don't make the obvious mistake of ordering the fried chicken at this seafood restaurant. Stick to the crab, lobster, shrimp and fish that you are used to. And whatever you do you must eat the truffle mac and the crab donuts. The cocktails were really tasty as well. Overall Rivertail is a good time especially if you treat it like a tapas restaurant and lounge. I can't wait to go back and try the Branzino and Lobster Roll.
We made a reservation to celebrate my promotion we were so excited and overdue for a night out. We arrived and were sat. We had been sitting there for about 8 minutes before we even got water.
We ordered our drinks and one appetizer. Word to the wise - the crab donuts are not anything like what you’d think. They dropped off store bought pastries cut in half with cold pre made crab salad slapped in the middle. They came out sloppy like a kindergartener plated them.
I could go on but long story short, we ordered one more disappointing app and asked for our bill.
I won’t be back.
The drinks I will say had a strong pour and a good flavor
Made a reservation and we were seated pretty quick. Ordered the fried chicken and shrimp and it was great. I recommend the lobster rolls as well!
Dishes were spectacular. We are total appetizer foodies so we didn't do entrees, we love doing the fun apps and they were amazing. The octopus, crab donuts, taquitos and steak tartar rocked. Chef has a great knack for acidity and sweet and savory blend, right up our alley. We had to wait quite awhile to sit, 30 min+ even though we had reservation. The tables were open but needed to be cleaned, I could tell it was short staffed and heard some staff speaking about how some staff was out. Not a biggie, we were patient, but that's why I docked a star on service. However, everyone was friendly and doing their best on a short staff I'm assuming.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a kind review! We loved reading which appetizers you enjoyed and we are thrilled you enjoyed your time with us. We greatly appreciate your feedback and will work to improve. We do apologize for being short staffed and we appreciate your understanding. It was a pleasure serving you and we hope to see you again soon!
Beautiful restaurant, great food. The fish portion is very small.
Food was delicious and our server could not have been better
Quite busy for a Sunday evening with staff bustling around and high energy everywhere. We decided to ask for a quiet table inside and although we could see Max our waiter was very busy outside he was very attentive. Max spent the time to explain the menu and stopped by to ask how everything was going. The food is very innovative, lobster roll was delicious and the Shrimp Louie salad appetizer is a meal. Four huge shrimp on top., definitely a must! We will definitely be back!
The hostess and waiter were RUDE!!! We waited 45 minutes to pay our bill. Would not recommend.
Didn’t like the layout, very noisy and poor service. For the price I didn’t think food was worth it. Won’t be back, for me the ambiance wasn’t enjoyable.
Restaurant is difficult to get to especially on the weekend. It’s an open air dining experience and quite loud. More like a bar scene. The hostess was very unfriendly and not interested in accommodating my party. The table was small and shoved into a corner next to a glass wall. Another table was then seated on the other side which was awkward. I will not be going back because I believe that when you tell a hostess that you don’t like a table they should at least discuss the issue and not ignore you. I believe she told the manager and he as well did not care or he would’ve approached us to explain or accommodate.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The small Caesar was excellent. The filet was also very good.
I can’t get over the unpleasantness that preceded the meal so this is a big NO in the future.
The end all was when the server came back and told us our value opentable reward would not go through. Perfect ending to an imperfect meal.
Great food. Service was a little slow but overall we enjoyed it. I would recommend
Great location, Food and very attentive staff from hostess to our waitress. Great outdoor dining location
Best house salad I have had in years. Wonderful oysters and fresh seafood.
I thought food was very spicy over priced Not a good value at all plus you have to pay to park and walk
Ambiance was on point! Server was prompt/attentive , Octopus appetizer is a must ! Drinks were refreshing, will be returning!
