Riverbend Inn&Vineyard Ratings and Reviews
Phenomenal food and service! We are celebrating our anniversary and staying the in hotel. The restaurant was recommended by the front desk staff. The food was so delicious and the atmosphere is stunning. The service was also incredible. Definitely will be coming back!
Hey, there’s a new chef in town! Hats of to Brad the new guy at Riverbend. We had a wonderful dinner last week. The food was extraordinary. Flavours bursts in the appetizer, roasted root vegetables and a chicken dish to die for. I can not wait to visit again! Thanks again!
We have eaten at Riverbend several times, but this time, it was disappointing. The room was too brightly lit when we arrived and with only one server, we waited a long while to even get our menus. When she finally came by, I asked if she might dim the lights, which she did, finally. She was also acting as bartender, so drinks took a long while too. We ordered crab cakes to start which were very good, then followed with the duck breast for me and beef tenderloin for my husband. Mine was OK, very rich, but his requested medium-rare beef was mostly medium. The server was told it was my birthday and most of the times restaurants will do a little something special with dessert. They did not. Our reservation was for 7PM, but it was like they weren't ready. Very disorganized. Not like Riverbend at all, so we'll hope it was just a glitch.
There was no hostess. No one in charge. We received 2 paper menus and 2 leather bound menus pretty tacky. It took a long time to get our cocktails there was No sense of order. If the patio had been open it would have been sheer chaos. Service was slow. My fish was raw. The waitress while kind was ditzy. As much as I want to go back I'm hesitant.
Niagara on the Lake has long been the meeting place for our Toronto cousins and Buffalo family. Saturday night there were no brunch reservations to be had in town, and I took a chance on Riverbend. We were a party of 6 adults, a 6 year old, and a 2 year old. Since it is a short distance down the road from the center of town, it was great to not have to hunt for a place to park! I had the classic Bennie (yum) and everyone enjoyed their brunch as much as I did. The service was very good, beautiful dining room and view of the vineyard, and the 2 year old was so happy she even forgot to say no!
A wonderful evening , Kelly was an amazing server , knowledgable about the entire menu and attentive to all our needs. The room was beautiful , the ambiance of the fire was delightful. The duck breast was succulent , the meal was made all the more wonderful by adding a lobster tail.
For the first time, my family and I had made a reservation for Christmas Day dinner and were surprised to find that a 'traditional' Christmas dinner was not an entrée option. The food was fine, however certainly not great and considering the date, with no traditional option I was surprised that the food was not better. The small dining room was very warm and the tables were very close together. It is a lovely spot and the employees are very kind and welcoming. I'm sure it's very beautiful in the summer months overlooking the vineyards, however, next year we will return to having a Christmas dinner at home.
I had much higher expectations for this restaurant as Riverbend Inn clams to be one of the a one of the top hotels in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Well, the restaurant is very average in terms of food. Even bread that was served at the beginning of the meal was stale. It is shameful. We mentioned this to our server, but did not get any replacement, and it is on Saturday night!!! Shame!
I have dined at this restaurant many times previously with fine results. This time was an exception. One dinner companion described his steak as "tough and tasteless". The staff did not see fit to replace the entrée or make an adjustment on the bill. My steelhead trout was quite pedestrian. The shellfish threesome was quite satisfactory for the other two guests. Service as usual was quite good and the environment and the decor are wonderful.
Food was mediocre with not much taste (Lobster risotto and special of the day trout). Service was poor due to inexperienced server and large wedding party taking up most of the dining room. Brought us the wrong wine, sat us in a corner (and we were nicely dressed). Won't go back. Food presentation was not great. Beautiful Inn and location.
Perfect "catch-up with a friend" breakfast in the vineyard. Quiet, beautiful pastoral scenery. Got off to a rough start as staff was unaware of reservation. We had to hunt down staff to be seated. Once seated, service and food were both good. Coffee could have been hotter.
Scenery was great but the service wasn't the greatest. We had a reservation for a group of six and upon arrival no one came to find out if we were walk-ins or had a reservation. After about 5 minutes just standing there, we decided to go out to the patio area to see if we could find a waiter and were promptly told that we should seat ourselves (would have been great if there was a sign indicating this and if there was then I missed it). We also had to bring chairs to the table ourselves as the servers were too busy to prepare the table for us. The food was good but the service could have been better. Maybe it was just a busy day.
