The halibut was really good. The curried sauce and lemon risotto with it were wonderful. Really good restaurant.
Beautiful dining room. The food and service were outstanding and we enjoyed immensely!
The food, service were great but unfortunately there was a large party of 15 very loud guest who disturbed dining of others. Would have appreciated a heads up so we could have dined there another night instead!
A lot of charm with delicious food and wine.
Nothing to write home about. The steak that I ordered was burnt .Seating was horrible ,old chairs . Had to seat at the only available table as the other tables were not set,Very pricey .Many more better restaurants (500 yrd away) in the town
We are sorry to discover your experience was not up to standard. Yes, a large reservation had left prior to your arrival and that is the reason for the limited seating that evening. We wish you had told us about the issue with your steak when we came to perform our quality check. No one in your party mentioned any issues that evening. Everyone said to us everything was good. We are happy to rectify any problems when issues come to our attention during the service. Thank you for your visit.
Amazing meal, great patio overlooking the vineyard. Really had an amazing meal.
Patio on a summer evening is an unbeatable venue.
Beautiful setting. We ate on the back patio. Great service. Chef-driven menu was just perfect. High end dining at small town prices. Loved it!
The hotel and vineyard are stunning. We sat outside and watched the sun set over the vineyards. The service and food were outstanding.
Thank you for your wonderful review. We are thrilled you enjoyed your time with us. The view here is spectacular and we look forward to having you back soon.
We hadn’t been to Riverbend in a couple years and decided to meet friends for dinner. The view continues to be spectacular from the patio although the restaurant does need to be spruced up a little. The patio deck needs painting and the glassware is on the cheap side. I will say the service was excellent and the food delicious. The caprese salad was one of the best I’d tasted and the chef was flexible with the dishes. Time to freshen up the place Riverbend to stay in tuned with your service & food.
Thanks you for the great feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our food, our staff pride themselves in being able to accommodate our guests. We have retired our fatigued glassware. We look forward to having you back soon.
Have eaten here before inside and had a very good experience
Decided to enjoy weather and ate outside
No table clothes at tables and deck appears very run down
Even the main meal was not up to standard
Had rack of lamb and mashed potatoes were hard and veggies over cooked. My wife’s salad was horrible for a mixed green- still trying to figure it out
View was beautiful but for the money, they didn’t pull it together
They need to invest some money into a proper patio
While the interior of the restaurant is very elegant, the patio leaves a lot to be desired. The servers were good at their jobs but overworked for the number of people. There seemed little rhyme or reason to how people were assigned a table- sit anywhere was the approach. The food was fine, not exceptional, and took a very long time to be delivered. My mother’s burger wasn’t hot. Good wine and a nice view.
Great place, great staff, even better food ! The chicken was mouthwatering
Beautiful place, nice, spacious and clean room. Courteous and welcoming people at the reception.
But the food needs lots of improvements!
We were surprised about the Christmas dinner... a soup (containing many small pieces of aniseed that should have been taken out before serving) , rack of lamb and a very small piece of cheesecake; really not a real Christmas dinner worth the price we paid! We also had lunch and the chicken was a bit hard and may be not fresh.
We went specifically for Christmas dinner, a pre-fix at $75 per person.
My wife ordered the "traditional" turkey dinner. It was tough, with a very spicy stuffing, & undercooked vegetables.
I ordered the tenderloin which was sent back 3 times. I ordered it medium well & it arrived twice bloody.
The only dessert offered was a cheesecake, which we declined.
The Inn itself is lovely & quiet.
The food, including a disappointing breakfast is highly overpriced & underwhelming.
Stopped in for a late lunch here as thought it looked like a cute place with a nice views. That was correct except the food was terrible. Over cooked fish and chips , while my seafood platter had no taste to it really. I would find another place to eat- there must be much better close by.
Spent a lovely evening in our fireplaced room and romantic restaurant. Most lovely server ever took great care of us! Can't say enough! We'll be back next year!
Thank you for your kind words Linda. We can't wait to see you again next year.
Beautiful Inn with a quiet, romatic restaurant. They have unique and delicious wine selection from graps grown in their vineyard. The duck breast and beef striploin are particularly excellent.
Thank you for your kind words Jamin. We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us. We look forward to hosting you again.
My husband and I have been to Riverbend on several occasions and have always enjoyed the selection of items on the menu, the service and atmosphere (love staying at the Inn as well). We both had the perch which was perfectly done and very tasty. What a great find in NOTL!
Thank you for your kind words Michele. We are happy you enjoyed the fresh water Lake Erie Perch - it's one of our most popular menu items. We look forward to hosting you again soon.
The service was amazing , the ambiance was great , too bad my parten good was too salty
The venue is lovely and our server was professional and attentive. The Caprese appetizer was fair — though the tomatoes were underripe, the house-made pesto gave the dish good flavor.
We had the lobster risotto and the fish. Both the main elements and the risotto/rice curry were bland and uninspired. I was very disappointed, particularly as this was our most anticipated dining experience and by far the most expensive.
Thank you for your review. We strive for excellence in everything we do. We are disappointed to hear we did not meet your expectations. We have passed on your constructive feedback to our kitchen team. We invite you to come back and try us again. We know we will deliver the dining experience in this beautiful setting that you are looking for.
We ate on the patio, enjoying a beautiful evening and watching the sun set. The food is limited and good, but not great. The wine list is more limited than at a bad bar. The service was friendly and efficient. If you want a beautiful setting for drinks or dessert, try the patio. Otherwise, there are many other better choices for the same price.
The location is beautiful, but we were underwhelmed by the food. My nice halibut had plain white rice...I expected something more creative at a four star restaurant. We also had to take our check to the bar to pay...rather odd for an upscale establishment.
We arrived for an early dinner time (6:30pm) and there was only one other table occupied on the patio when we arrived. We were a party of 5. I had called to say that it was a birthday celebration and that one of our party was a vegan. The vegan options were very limited (which is not unusual). The chef had created a vegan option which was considerate. However, the Vegan in our party decided on the Mushroom Rissotto instead. The server was very pleasant. We ordered 4 main courses(one person just had a starter for a main), 3 starters and a bottle of wine. The meal came to $350. The food and service was very good, as expected for a pricier alternative to other restaurants in the area.
The setting was the best part. The patio looks over the vineyards towards Peller Estate and the setting sun. Very nice.
We had not dined at Riverbend for years but had been given a gift certificate and decided to use it. It was a beautiful day, but we chose to sit inside at the window as the patio was getting sunny and too warm. View over the vineyards was lovely and I like the old-fashioned room. But unfortunately, the meal did not live up to the location.
My first impression of the place was marred by scruffy dried-up geraniums in the planter not far from the entrance door. (Some of us notice that sort of thing!) As it was a warm summer day, I was hoping that the Soup du Jour would be a cold soup like a gazpacho. Alas, it was a Beef Stew soup (more suitable to a cold winter day IMHO!). But my salad with a thick raspberry vinaigrette was the best part of the whole meal. My lobster risotto with lobster tail was ample but the lobster tail was rubbery. Partner had Caesar salad (OK he said) and Duckling which was a little dry (perhaps should have ordered med-rare as the server suggested). We shared a peach tart with homemade ice cream (very tasty) which was apropos the Peach Celebration (but peaches were not as soft as I would have liked them). Our waitress was superb - friendly, knowledgeable, and service was great. But if you are going to command fine dining prices ($40 range entrees), there needs to be some more flair than just a basic "okay but not great" meal. I do not call myself a gourmet or require perfection, but having dined at other NOTL restaurants and wineries, I found Riverbend lacking. Perhaps that explains why it was not busy on what should have been a booming weekend.
Great location, wonderful view of vineyards
Felt like you were in Tuscany
Location feels like you are far from the maddening crowd
I should have paid attention to prior reviews. A beautiful summer evening and we are the ONLY people on the terrace. Wine—very mediocre and over priced. Food — mediocre. By the piece de resistance—a side of green beans for $6. But there were only 9 green beans. Save your money and go elsewhere
It was a lovely meal! I had the delicious Summer Salad—mixed greens, strawberries, goat cheese! Perfect. Next the grilled halibut with a mild curry garnish—so good! Paired with Tollgate sauv blanc. Peach crisp was my dessert followed by a Remy Martin VSOP. Couldn’t have been better. Our waitress was superb!
I thought it was overpriced and had a limited menu but it was convenient to eat there while staying there.
Have always enjoyed a lovely experience at the Riverbend Inn. This restaurant is superb, with friendly and attentive staff. Meals are very well prepared, and justify the moderate pricing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for dinners, lunches, and special occasions.
Vacation great experience
Beautiful vista, dining on the veranda. Real care taken in the preparation of each dish, and the staff are magnificently kind and patient.
A friends 60th birthdays
Food and service was good
Very disturbing that in the middle of the week they ran out of carbonated water, two wines I tried to order and one of their main courses
Waitress tried her best but really poor miss management on part of owners
Excellent food and service, great for foodies, they need address the cold when someone opens the door. It was quit chilly tha day. Someone turned on a space heater but it was still a bit chilly ..
We liked the ambiance and live music. The menu was creative and very tasty. Our service was exceptional. We explored the idea of staying at the inn at a future date.
Christmas dinner - fine meal except they served turkey roll and we all would have preferred traditional roast turkey.
