I was the only one in the restaurant during my time there, So the service was great. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out rare / undercooked. The center was cool to the touch, So I sent it back and when it returned it was closer to medium well then it was to medium rare although it did have great flavor. But, steak was very fatty only leaving me with five small bites of a $28 steak. I still left a 20+% tip due to current economy (Covid 19) and felt bad for the staff and believed that the Chef should have known better to serve that steak as it would have been clearly fatty not marbled.
As for a recommendation, I probably try it again when things start to return to normal.
They did not have our reservation—said they no longer connect to the Open Table app from their end. We reserved b/c they came up in the app when we sorted for Outdoor dining, but they offered no outdoor dining. So we left and found someplace else to eat. We tried to reserve the new place via the app, but could not b/c of the conflict with the reservation at Riverbend. So instead we phoned and reserved the last outside table at the replacement restaurant (which was excellent).
The service was exceptional! My guest had food restrictions and Aris was on top of it! We enjoyed the restaurant week menu and the steak tips were cooked and seasoned perfectly! The hostess was kind and offered us the complimentary parking ticket which we already received from Aris but nonetheless, service was GREAT!
A group of us went for lunch since it was restaurant week. The lunch was $20 and included an appetizer (choice of soup or salad), choice of 3 s d choice of 2 desserts. Unfortunately the desserts list on the menu were not available but they substituted.
While I remember it being a bit nicer as far as the ambience goes, the food was good and portions were good. The room was separated into two making it smaller. it was also a bit cold in there.

Our group of 6 had a nice secluded table. Food was excellent. A minor problem when paying the bill - cash and credit card. Resolved quickly

The Riverbend restaurant is at its best when you are greeted by Taylor. For the best of service ask for Reno. I have been going to the Riverbend for decades. All compliments are greatly appreciated by Birdie. He is a manager that actually cares, goes out of his way to insure a pleasant dining experience. You will be in "good hands " with Birdie, Taylor and Reno.
We had a dinner for 2 on Christmas Day just at opening time, so we were just about the only ones in the restaurant. Service was attentive, the food was good, cost was moderate. It took a long time to get the check for some reason, and the parking validation ticket we were given was no good. Pleasant experience overall.
Excellent service, though a bit disorganized and dismissive in the seating. The maitre de' was absent for 30 minutes and barely hospitable, in a mostly empty restaurant. The excellence of the server made up for the wait. The food was middling with an exceptionally thin New York strip that was cooked through and through. The prices were that of a fine steakhouse. The food was worthy of Applebees. This was a special occasion dinner for an overnight stay in a nice hotel. I chose this restaurant by it's website, which was a mistake. I'm disappointed.
We went to Riverbend on Thanksgiving at the request of friends who aren't very adventurous, and the husband has some health problems. I had been there before, and didn't expect the food to be more than mediocre, and that's about what it was. We went at 6 pm, when most of the Thanksgiving crowd had gone home, but they offered a bargain TG dinner consisting of turkey breast, mashed and sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce.
I don't like white turkey meat, but they couldn't substitute dark meat so I ordered a la carte. My onion soup was too salty, and the duck breast was ok, but the squash it came with was overcooked and under-seasoned. Our friends ordered salads, which they said were ok and my husband started with grilled octopus, which he liked.
The dessert buffet was varied, and the desserts were good, if not special. Our waiter was nice and the service was attentive, but he forgot to bring the sparkling water we had ordered. The whole thing really did not rise above the level of typical mass-produced hotel cooking.
Went for brunch for a special occasion. It was fantastic and everyone enjoyed!

Have been going to the Riverbend at the Newton Marriott for decades. Never disappointed. From the moment you enter, you are cheerfully greeted and treated as a V I P.
Six cousins chose this location because our parents were born in Newton. We remember being at the amusement park as children. We had a lovely view of the Charles River and the Boathouse. The atmosphere inside was nicely decorated and one side of the restaurant was all windows.
Our lunches were nicely presented. The chef even came out to speak with one of us because of an allergy. Each of us commented that the food was very tasty.
Our server was pleasant and accommodating. She noticed that one of us had a birthday and brought a delicious hard-chocolate shell filled with tiramisu!! It was so good we order a second one to share!
All-in-all, it was delightful afternoon!
Met a friend for Sunday Brunch. Although I made a reservation using Open Table they seated us in the very rear of the restaurant next to service station. Very disappointing. In addition, no one came to over our table to offer any kind of service. I requested a change of table and was nicely accommodated. As it was a buffet we were told to help ourselves to food. For the price of $25 I thought the selection of foods to be a little lacking. The made to order omelet station was very good when we could track down the cook. Enjoyed the shrimp cocktail. Meal should have included a brunch specialty drink like Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Overall not impressed. Probably would not eat Brunch there again.

For coffee and meeting - yes, for dining - no. Admittedly, this is a first time experience dining. I had the chicken with artichokes and tomatoes. There were two tiny pieces of chicken in the entire dish! Should I have told the wait staff - yes, but I was at a business meeting and did not need the distraction.
I would recommend Riverbend with a caveat. Wait until they get the new parking system worked out! We've had our monthly business networking breakfast there for years. We love the round table, the view, the location, etc. But now Marriott is charging for parking unless you use the facilities. There was a line and a wait to get my ticket validated -- and then it did not work in the machine -- I had to wait for staff to come over so I could show my restaurant receipt and get manually "let out" of the parking lot. I can understand why Marriott needs to charge for parking (sadly) -- but then have enough staff to validate and make sure the system works!
It’s very convenient to dine here if you’re staying at the Newton Marriott. My lamb dinner with polenta and fresh veggies was outstanding. My husband ordered his steak medium rare and was extremely clear how he wanted it cooked. I ordered my lamb medium. It was evident that the kitchen mixed it up. My lamb was definitely medium rare and his steak was barely pink. He was a bit disappointed. When the server checked on him he reported his unhappiness and was offered a redo. He declined as it would have been wasteful and our dinner time was already quite late. I would recommend this restaurant and would definitely return. But one might want to be careful when ordering meat if you care how well it’s cooked.
An outstanding big breakfast with terrific service!
Pretty good Sunday brunch! Nothing spectacular, but good service and value. The omelette chef made me a lox, onion and tomato omelette which was delightful.

Excellent in many ways! Surprised that there was no dairy free gluten free dessert to put a candle
in, when we wanted to sing Happy Birthday. The manager was excellent, and I want to praise her,
unfortunately I've forgotten her name. She tried very hard to accommodate us.
The four of us noticed that the AC was turned down well before 2 pm, and we could feel it beginning
to be stuffy etc.

It is a hotel restaurant. The staff was very friendly and courteous. My wife had the roasted chicken with garlic mash potatoes, which was actually pretty decent. I had the Paella, which was the worst I ever had. The rating is based on that dish. The chicken would have gotten 2.5 to 3 stars.
They have a nice menu with varied choices, something for everyone. My salad was very good and they were flexible about substitutions. The location is terrific (right off 128 at Route 30) with plenty of parking. A great place to meet people for lunch

Great location for a business networking breakfast. I really like the round tables for eight people -- great to network and we sometimes easily squeeze in a 9th person.

Hotel Restaurant...do not waste your time unless you are staying at the hotel. I do not understand all of these positive reviews. The food was meh, the ambiance and decor was absolutely terrible.
The service, although fairly attentive, was very slow especially after our entrees were delivered.
The time between ordering dessert and receiving our final bills was unacceptably long.
I had asked for a quiet round table for our party of seven with a water view. All of those requests were honored. We had a very nice lunch party. The food was good, it was quiet enough to talk, and the view was lovely.
