Wonderful place for a date night, with very flavorful steaks, knowledgeable staff, and perfect views of the Elizabeth River! It was a bit quieter than than what we were initially looking for (in fact: we were the only couple dining until another 4 top arrived around the time we started dessert, and we were looking for something a little more energetic). However, it ended up being a great moment for us to enjoy each other's company exclusively amidst a great scenic backdrop. We will return!
Our server was very inexperienced. He brought our cocktails with the first course. The first course and entree course were brought in batches of two. The food was wonderful. We will return. A bit of training will solve the service problem.
Decided to try Riverbank during Restaurant Week. The food was good, the dessert was delicious. Our server was new and I think that possible took away from our experience. He wasn't able to answer a lot of our questions. The view is beautiful thought and the Restaurant is very nicely decorated. Would be willing to give it another try, perhaps when it's not restaurant week and peruse the entire menu.
Excellent evening; it was my Dad's 85th B-Day combined with Father's Day. The Staff was absolutely Terrific, very friendly and cordial. The table had a great view of the harbor and the food was delicious!

My wife and I were the only guests in the restaurant on a Friday evening--but the hostess (Meghan) treated us as VIPs, and served us very attentively. Appetizers and entrees were prepared expertly, and dessert was every bit as good as advertised. We will be back...and will bring a group with us next time.

Steaks were very good. But for the prices I would expect the other items to also be good as well. Sides were average at best. Lobster bisque was awful.
Solid dining experience as to be expected from this chef and his wife. The recent change to a steak house may be a mistake as it bring the already exclusive price range to even higher levels. Hope this market accepts this
You should think about installing indoor heaters at the base of dloors. You advertise such great views but we witnessed 2 couples get up and walk out due to how cold they felt near the scenic view that is so beautiful and advertised in your website. Expansion of menu also, there were no main pasta dishes, only beef (red meat). No chicken or any other choices. Seemed ...different.
The meal was good. I had salmon and it was done to perfection. The side dish of asparagus and bacon was also tasty. The highlight of the meal, however, was the service. Our server was engaging and made the unfortunate food delay much more tolerable. We'll definitely return!
Although the staff was very friendly, It took 2.5 hours for our meal to be served.
Negative: The Wagyu was as lean as a piece of flank steak. While it was not what I anticipated, it was cooked to order and decently flavored. In addition, the creme brûlée had a horrific amount of sugar in the creme that it lingered in one’s mouth even after taking a couple of sips of wine.
Positive: The staff was fantastic and my wife and I both loved our first course, which was an oyster mushroom soup and a quite delightful salad.
In the end, my wife and I had a good time, but we would not spend $200 dollars for a poor food experience like that one again.
Good meal and very good service. Only complaint was not being informed or seeing anywhere fact that only dinner option was a 4 course price fix menu for Valentine’s Day. None of the signature items I came to try were an option. Although food was fine to spend a couple hundred dollars for 2 people and not have access to full menu was disappointing. And being Valentine’s Day it wasn’t as if we had a choice to go elsewhere.
Fantastic meal and service. Perfect setting for a "date night"or special occasion. Chef Phil's creations should not be missed.

One of our favorite hidden jems. Fit for foodies, they have a very good wine selection and everything is delicious. The new steak entrees are expensive but there seem to be enough options to keep the bill reasonable. The portions are good. A great option is to share a soup, salad, and appetizer. They have a select list of $30/bottle wines that do not disappoint.
Wonderful food and service. Best crab soup I have ever had. Pricey but worth it!
First time at this amazing restaurant and can't wait to go back. The ambiance was romantic, food and wine was superb and service was optimum. SUPERB!!!!
Formerly the Vintage Kitchen, and hasn’t changed much...which is good!
When we made reservations we were not aware that the restaurant had been open only four days. It was also Norfolk Restaurant Week. We were greeted by a kind hostess who served as the bartender the hostess and the food server for all the guests in the restaurant that evening clearly the restaurant was unprepared to be opened. The young lady was kind and personable, and seemed to do well as a bartender and host...however she was very inexperienced as a server. The Vintage Tavern rebrand into the Riverbank has some WORK to do to succeed. Interior is beautiful and large glass windows overlooking g the Norfolk waterfront was overshadowed by a poor experience. The wagyu beef and cesar Salad was very good...but what really sealed the disappointing evening was when my wife asked to e change her dessert(had not touched) for the other of two choices...the young lady returned to the kitchen and was told, they would not exchange it, because the chocolate creme brulee was made to order....I do wish Riverbank better days as they begin their new food adventure.
Perfect for special occasions. The setting is very intimate and the food was AMAZING! My fiance is a chef, so it’s not too often that our socks are knocked off.

The service was outstanding. The wines by the glass were very good. The food was prepared and served very well. The flavors were outstanding. While a fried Twinkie is not my ideal dessert, it was outstanding; try it. Consider passing on mixed drinks before the meal, they were not done very well.
One of our absolute favorite restaurants. Each and every staff member is professional, attentive, and extremely kind. Food is fantastic!
Delicious burgers - both Mikey's Favorite and the Blended Burger. Excellent service. Easy to get to and free parking in the garage.
Everything about our dining experience was excellent EXCEPT, I was so disappointed that they run out of the bread pudding dessert. That was one of my main reasons for choosing them to dine that evening.
Food was good, ambiance lack luster and very empty restaurant on a Friday night which should be a big red flag. The service was the most unprofessional I’ve encountered in a very long time. From systems being down and requesting to write down patrons info and license info on paper that would be “thrown away” to directing patrons to an ATM that did not provide cash and charged patrons duplicate charges creating chaos with their banks etc. i was on the phone with mine for over 30 minutes trying to stop the charges. The waitress seemed to do a lot of lip service that was misinformed information. The manager finally came out after multiple requests being aggressive rude and deflecting about all the had experienced trying to pay the bill and asked us to input our info into an app that was on his phone. It was the first and last time i will ever dine there. I highly recommend no one dines here until they fix their payment issuess, staff, and manager/chef needs a class in CSR and hospitality.

Visited for lunch on a Friday. They only serve in half the restaurant for lunch, so half the restaurant was closed off. The closed part has the great sunlight and sweeping views of the water. :( Food was great!
We did not realize that it was restaurant week and made our decision to go based on their regular menu. The only available items were off a set 3-course menu with a few choices for appetizer, main and dessert. Overall, the food was okay, with the exception of one of the main course items, but portions were small and at $35 for the set menu, overpriced.
Dined here for restaurant week. Dinner was tasty but service was incredibly slow from the minute we arrived to when we payed. Nice ambience but wouldn’t pay full price if the service continues the way it is.
Girl's Night for Norfolk Restaurant Week...and Vintage was the perfect choice! Hands down the most delicious The Crab soup I have ever tasted. I am looking forward to going back.

We received your email to come for dinner and see the Harborfest fireworks right outside the restaurant on the river. That was the best suggestion - thank you. Probably the best spot without a big crowd on the whole riverfront.

We enjoyed a waterfront table for HarborFest - so the view was almost as perfect as the meal. The service was amazing and we enjoyed all 4 courses.

Wonderful food and great service
I went hear with my husband, his Grandfather, and my mother in law. My MIL has a lot of allergy restrictions so when I spoke with the server ahead of time he assured me that all allergies would be avoided. When we were there the server REMEMBERED all of the allergies that I had told him over the phone days before and was kind enough to give her options and tell her every ingredient in each meal. The Duck entree that I had was by far the best duck I have ever tasted (I’ve eaten a lot, it’s my favorite) and the bread pudding I had was amazing. At the end my MIL had hot tea and was telling us how much she liked it and before we left the server brought her another tea bag to take home because he had overheard her. Pros: food was sensational, ambiance was warm and inviting, service was thoughtful and helpful. Cons: limited menu and slow service for so few diners. However it is all made to order and was very artistically presented which takes more time.
