River Vine Cafe
The menu by John Ash & Co. restaurant Executive Chef Tom Schmidt showcases seasonal foods and produce from local sources, including the inn’s very own gardens.
The elegantly-rustic café features a circular dining room with expansive windows that open onto beautiful vineyards and gardens; a rock fireplace and wood ceiling beams that bring natural elements to create an inviting, warm, and comfortable ambiance; and custom iron ceiling light fixtures and walls sconces that add notes of elegance and grace. The café provides an array of seating options indoors and out, including quaint, smaller dining areas for intimate duos, as well as a private room for up to 80 guests for meetings or special events.

This spot is a "hidden gem" for breakfast, lunch or brunch. The patio is gorgeous, and you can have a conversation with your dining companions. They brought us a little scone to nibble on while we waited for our meals. Service is impeccable as well.
My friend and I sat outside. It was lovely. We felt like we had been swept away to a garden in Tuscany. Five star surroundings and service at a bery affordable price. The menu is limited but that’s fine with us. I will absolutely return.
Very good overall but a bit loud when seated inside with sound bouncing off all of the hard surfaces inside. Made it a little hard to have a conversation.
Beautiful setting along with exceptional service. The River Vine Cafe is perfect for a relaxing afternoon with family and friends!
The food was very, very good. The service is outstanding. It's a lovely, quiet place to have a meal with a very nice interior and excellent outdoor seating. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Our latest OpenTable discovery. Delightful Cafe with great food, low key and very reasonablely priced considering where it is (Vintner’s Inn). We’ll be back.
Although we have gone many times to John Ash, we had never had the pleasure of dining here. We will definitely return!
Way too much bread on my chicken sandwich.
I gave service 3 stars because we waited 10 minutes before my husband finally said something to the hotel receptionist. We were early for our reservation and when the host finally came to seat us, we were told we would have to wait until our reservation time. We were then seated at a table that we requested and had been vacant the entire time we waited. We felt that both the concierge and the host were a bit snooty about the whole thing. However, our waitress was very good, the food and bloody marys were excellent.
Wonderful fresh, local food. We love the eggs benedict and have sampled multiple other items form the menu. LOVE the Hobbs sausage!
Took out of town guests for brunch on a Saturday. The weather was nice so we sat on the patio and the surroundings were very pleasant, lots of flowers growing and a large fountain in the background. One of the guests needed gluten free options so this fit the bill for that. Service was unobtrusive but thorough. The menu is not extensive so you might want to check it out online just to make sure it will be adequate for your group. Price was average for brunch in these parts, there was a lot of food on the plates and we were quite full for the rest of the afternoon. I recommend it as a brunch or casual lunch spot before heading out wine tasting or touring.
Brunch was fun and ate outside. Food and service very good
We were on our way home from Fort Bragg and decided to stop at John Ash for lunch. We hadn’t been there in a while and we were surprised to see how much it had grown into more of an event center - with a hotel, a cafe, and a restaurant. Since the cafe was the only place to eat at the time, we decided to have lunch there. We ate at one of the outdoor tables because it was a beautiful day. But someone was also setting up for a wedding on the green near the restaurant, so they were constantly chattering on their microphone and we had no choice but to hear every word.
In the past, when we ate there for lunch, we sat outdoors in what is now the restaurant and it was very beautiful. The cafe was nice, but the outdoor seating seemed like an afterthought. Our service was quite slow, especially considering there weren’t that many people eating there. We ordered the avocado toast to start with and got two thin slices of toasted baguette with avocados for $9! The avocado toast was good but the price was ridiculous! My husband had the pastrami sandwich and loved it. I had the chicken sandwich and it was good but not great. We both had desserts, carrot cake and butterscotch pot de creme, and they were good too.
Overall, I would give this cafe a rating of 3 out of 5. Partially due to the slow service, partially due to the noise from the wedding set up, and partially due to the outrageous price of the avocado toast.
Stopped by here for brunch while on a road trip. Nothing was impressive about the brunch. The potatoes were over cooked and had the look of the last scoop from an old pan.
The saving grace was the wait staff. If not for their friendly service I would give this place a big 1 Star for my experience. I just don’t know how you can screw up a basic eggs and toast dish.
Great food and service.
They renovated last year and the cafe is just off the lobby of the hotel; outside seating is limited, smaller than the outside, off the bar area. That kind of makes me question before eating alfresco here. The food was very good, but there was hardly anyone there, all seats outside were full and we were the only customers inside. I believe this cafe is here to cater to the hotel guests, but locals should give it a try for sure.
First of all, great competent, friendly, sincere service. Our party of five was seated inside but we decided we wanted to be outside on the patio near the beautiful gardens. No problem! They cheerfully moved tables around and accommodated us. The food is very good. I only gave 4 stars because frankly they need to increase serving size. I’ve been there three times and have either ordered something additional or left hungry. To be honest the fish tacos and breakfast are all I have eaten there. What really shines is the setting. Both inside and out are gorgeous.
Great place for a quick lunch, was able to get in and out quickly. Service and food was great.
The River Vine Cafe is an oasis just off the freeway but feeling every bit removed from the daily grind by their gorgeous grounds and beautiful facilities. A great choice for a midday refresh.
A neighborhood gem. Quality food, great service, nice atmosphere. An easy and enjoyable place to brunch!
Brunch was awesome! Eggs Benedict with Avacados and tomatoes was delicious. Definitely going back!
Thank you for making the start of my birthday grand. Sat with my wife and just celebrated wine country living. Beautiful tranquil peaceful serene enjoyable morning
Breakfast this time different from our usual lunch; just as good in every way; delicious crispy potatoes; decadent donuts (beignets) with chocolate dipping sauce; beautiful landscaping and flowers visible from inside; just delightful!
I enjoy coming to this restaurant because the staff is very friendly!
This is a wonderful spot for a special brunch. The food was excellent.
We heard about it from a friend. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My wife had the pear cider, really liked it. We were there on a rainy Friday lunch, so it was not crowded.
River Vine cafe is a great place for breakfast and lunch. The staff there is amazing! The grounds are beautiful and they even have a walking path to get out and stretch your legs after a meal.
Inside Vintner's Inn, the River Vine Cafe is a casual dining restaurant. Good menu with lots of options, nice service. Both of us had the Nicoise Salad and it was terrific. We will definitely return.
We both had salads for lunch, both were fresh and absolutely delicious!!
First time we have tried the cafe. Will go back again for breakfast or dinner.
Very pleasant, Good food & service.
We 3 ladies go out to lunch once a month and was referred to River Vine as a very nice comfortable place to go to. We only would have liked a larger choice of entrees to choose from. Will plan on returning for a breakfast meet.
Very accommodating service but our food was slow to get served. Also, the brownie dessert had very little chocolate flavor, although it was creative with ganache in the center we couldn't last the chocolate.
Love the remodel. Beautiful smooth floors and open beam ceilings. Thick cushions on chairs make them so comfortable. And the service.... well, absolutely marvelous as usual. Justin was our server. Very attentive but not overwhelming. Saw to our every need graciously. Food was so good... Egg Benedict were supreme!!! Perfect. Country breakfast is always good. The way the chef does the Country Potatoes is just so delicious! Very different than we had ever tasted and loved them! Manager always stops by to see that everything is ok. I've never been to another restaurant where I've seen the manager check in with all his guests! Wonderful experience. Chilly morning so fireplace was going. Nice touch. We will definitely continue to make this a go to place. Weekend brunch is wonderful!!!
This cafe, which is part of the John Ash/ Vineyard Inn complex is a hidden gem. The wait staff is so attentive, the food is delicious, and we were practically the only ones there.
Very disappointed. Had an amazing Sunday brunch after the remodel and thought I would have a small business meeting there. Bacon was burnt eggs were over cooked and the mocha tasteless. The cafe was empty so not sure why my meal was so over cooked.
Excellent service and delicious food
This is my 3rd time to River Vine Café. The service is always very attentive. The Manager Bobby always stops by to check on you very professional and nice attention to detail. The fish Taco are a must , The Mac and Cheese with bacon is just the correct size, and it was cold and rainy so I had the grilled cheese and tomato Soup. The Carrot Cake is a must. :) I was in with some friends from out of town who then wanted to go look around all of the beautiful Vintners Inn Grounds. Good wine list and fair prices. I would add it to the must try places. And I will be back.
A friendly, upscale but casual atmosphere. Well trained, efficient wait staff. Delicious, if limited, lunch menu. Fair prices.
We had a quiet, lovely brunch! Our thanks to the staff of The River Vine Cafe!
Pleasant, comfortable atmosphere in which to dine and have a conversation with friends. The staff was friendly and competent, and and the cobb salad was delicious. I will dine there again.
