Nice outdoor garden seating and nice ambience. Great food and drink at reasonable prices!
Beautiful setting. Lovely staff. Interesting tasty fresh food. Reasonable prices. Love it.
The front patio is a lovely place to dine. The service is excellent. But.....
the food has room for improvement. The salmon was overcooked, and the crab cakes were meaty but bland. The proteins could be served with more than a dab of this and a bit of that. If the seasoning and servings are amped up a bit, this will be an amazing restaurant.
River Road provides a quaint, inviting atmosphere. The food is amazing and Veronica cares about everyone’s experience. We’re having our baby shower there in the fall, and we look forward to eating here for years to come!
I have eaten at many places where Micheal Meehan has cooked and I don't really think that Michael Meehan is in the kitchen. To start the place was empty on a Thursday night at 8pm. We ordered a specialty martini on the menu and they said they didn't have the vodka. The appetizer of mussels was decent but beyond small and had no juice in the bottom of the pot. Is that possible. The seafood salad had shrimp that were literally cut in half and drenched in olive oil. Heres the clincher. Salmon over caesar salad-could barley taste the dressing if any and the salmon BURNT to a crisp I mean char-broiled. Meat loaf two small slivers the size of a palm and potatoes ice cold on bottom almost like it was a TV dinner. I have never posted a bad review but this is well deserving of one if in fact Micheal Meehan is in that kitchen. Didn't have dessert.
Service was fine but there are bunch of college kids basically running it and with no adults that at least we could see.
Absolutely delish oysters ! Dining Al Fresco was a delight! I will be coming back again and again !
Delicious food, great service - excellent look and feel
Food was very good portions small, service was friendly but very inexperienced and disorganized on a quiet night. Not very professional.
Wonderful place with carefully selected and prepared food. One suggestion is to put out the bread early and free with olives and cheese. It will easily pay for itself with extra wine orders.
The food was delicious. I loved the Crab and corn fritters. My cavatelli with chicken sausage paired so well with the sage butter sauce. Steak frites we're good, too. The orange biscuit in the Strawberry Shortcake was so tender and the flavor was on point. Also, I loved the From the Hive and my boyfriend enjoyed his New York Sour (the red wine floater was a unique addition!). A lovely experience overall!! Beautiful evening outside on the patio.
Gorgeous night and there is a lovely outdoor stone patio. Server was friendly and accommodating but often took a long time to get whatever was requested. Menu is interesting but the food was disappointing. Good combinations but not rthat well seasoned and portions were small.
Had a great experience here. Dined for Father's Day and received a special prix-fixe menu for the day. Servers checked in the right amount of times and were timely with service. The food was great. Steak dishes were cooked to requested temperature and tasted great. Pasta, chicken, and fish were also delicious. Would dine here again.
Thank you for your comments and hope to see you again!
Food was bland and unexciting. Noise level was unexceptable! Overall it does not compare to the former Mill River Inn! The old restaurant was warm and inviting.
Thank you for the 3 star rating for food and 4 star service. Sorry you were disappointed overall. Although we carefully source ingredients are not trying to be the Mill River Inn but more of a lively, causal bistro. Perhaps if you were to join us on a weeknight you would find it more comfortable. Sticky tables and floors
Orders wrong. Had to send back. Flatbread undercooked. Bill wrong. So disappointing.
What an incredibly disappointing meal! We went based upon a very good review in the local paper and our experience was nothing like the reviewer’s. The oysters which received raves were not good and turned out to be the best part of the meal! The black bean sweet potato burger was inedible and to their credit, we were not charged for it. Only the pork chop was good. Although the bartender/ waiter tried his best, the service was terrible- it was 1 hour to get our food and the restaurant was relatively empty. Perhaps it was just a very off night and others will have a better experience but we will not be returning.
They are obviously going through some growing pains when it comes to service - although let me be clear the wait staff and manager were very cordial and understanding. We went at an off hour on Sunday and it took an inordinate amount of time to get our appetizer. The manager to her credit realized it and did provide a complimentary dessert for our patience. Even with this kitchen blip I will definitely return for at least one more bite of the apple.
The food and service was very good, our waitress Caylin was very pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely go back to this restaurant.
It was a nice night so we were able to sit outside! The food was really good & the service was attentive. The menu is a bit limiting but everyone in our party found something he/she wanted to eat. We allcommented on how much we enjoyed our dishes.
A very pleasant restaurant with good food, but not in the same league as the outstanding restaurants that have opened in Oyster Bay in recent years, like 2 Spring Street and Osteria Leana.
Beautiful decor. Service was too attentive, almost cloying. Chicken dish was dry, meat loaf too firm. Management was delightful and as accommodating as they could be.
This little place can be a gem - love the location need to add outdoor warmers - make the menu unique and fresh daily with a handful of staples and this can be a winner - keep it fun and social
Everyone at the restaurant was nice as could be; however, the service was really terrible. It was half empty, ( and the restaurant is small to begin with), and our drinks took 20 minutes.
The menu is small. The specialty is the grilled chicken, which was okay. Three of us had it. The pork chop was slightly over cooked.
The only dessert offerings were in tiny mason jars. They were okay, but mostly whipped cream. I wish there had been something more chocolaty. Also we requested two doggy bags. they do not bring them to the table. You pick them up as you are leaving. They assured us we would get the correct ones. We did not.
I would be more inclined to come for lunch to sit in their lovely outdoor space and try the salads, but they are only open in the afternoons for brunch during the weekends.
I hope they get their serving issues straightened out because its a lovely, local spot with the waitstaff trying to do their best.
Small , cozy and off the beaten track. Farm to table with limited menu, but everything we had was very good.
Service very slow even on quiet night but food and ambiance very good. Growing pains
This place is a hidden gem!
The food was delicious, the staff was so friendly, and the restaurant is so cute!
We had the Mother's Day Prix Fixe Menu.
Started out with a house salad that had shrimp, avocado, greens and a sherry dressing.
I got the Steak & Cake entree. It was a melt-in-your-mouth piece of filet mignon and a very fresh crab cake over corn and asparagus.
Dessert was a nutella s'mores jar. Drooling
The portions were perfect, and the food was so so good!
We visited for Mother's day lunch . Food was wonderful and was on a price menu , but they were super great in accommodating dietary requirements. Drinks were ok ; not enough rose but several whites, reds , beets and speciality drinks . Deserts in a jar ; don’t miss the strawberry shortcake .
Service was good but many little mishaps need to be addressed , ie no one asked if we’d like coffee or if we wanted a second drink .
Nonetheless , we shall return . Nice homey place.
We were there last week and took our friends this week. They liked it as we did. Offerings are unique, natural and local. On our go back list.
I recommended this restaurant and was thrilled that everyone in my party was happy. It was our first time And we enjoyed! Our server Kaylan was fabulous. She was happy and accommodating. Being gluten-free my meal was absolutely delicious, as was all the meals at the table. We will definitely be back.
Great place😊, so happy they’re back, they were well missed. The food is creative, consistent and full of flavor. Great bar area and service. We love it and have enjoyed every meal 😊
We loved this place years ago when it was The Mill River Inn. Now the place is less formal, the chef is back and the food excellent again. We’re happy.
excellent everything fresh and made in house chicken sausage amazing ty
For a small intimate restaurant the noise level was deafening. Although we were seated at a small 2 person table, my husband and I felt like we were yelling to hear each other. The buttermilk fried soft shell crabs were dry, perhaps the sautéed choice would have been better. The halibut was moist and delicious, but it was served over hard, dry spinach ravioli with no discernible sauce. I so wanted to love this place as it is close to home, and adorable, but the food was inconsistent, and way too loud for a cozy neighborhood place.
Food was very good and nicely presented. Wait staff was unsophisticated for an upscale setting such as this. No attention to detail was disappointing but would definitely try again
It was our first time at River Road and it did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated by the warm, friendly hostess who stopped at our table to make sure we were being well taken care of ( we were), during the meal. Our waiter was great-attentive but not obtrusive, knowledgeable about the menu and anxious to please. The food was interestingly prepared and delicious. We particularly loved the BBQ chicken flatbread that we shared as a starter.
The atmosphere is casual, charming, laid back and welcoming.
We can’t wait to return and try other menu items.
Food was very good.
Service was haphazard.
The noise was overwhelming and detracted from the experience. Its a very small place. Looks like they are still trying to figure things out.
My straight vodka arrived with the taste and smell of sambuca. I asked the bartender to sample it. She agreed and replaced it.
Her shot glass must have contaminated the pour.
I hope they get their act together and survive.
Truly a favorite! The soft-shell crabs make my husband smile!
The atmosphere was nice but the interior is small, which we knew before we went. We had a group of 10 adults and everyone felt the food was a little over priced and as much alcohol as everyone drank we all left sober.
Very creative dishes and fun ambiance. Great energy in the room. Craft cocktails are excellent and eclectic wine selections.
Such a wonderful experience meal was great with wonderful & attentive service. Beautiful decor & nice touch meeting the owner!!
Thank you for dining with us! Your feedback is important and we appreciate the review. We hope to see you again soon.
Service was much better than expected for such a small off the beaten path place and the food was excellent. Had two courses and everything was as good as one could have asked and the Pork Chop was done perfectly with a refreshing seasonal greens and cartelized onion topping.
The service was attentive but not bothersome with a casual comfortable feel.
I would recommend this for everything from a business dinner to a casual family quick bite, to a special occasion.
