   Beautiful fish on the specials menu but the advertised asian salad was no more than a garnish...not at all resembling an asian salad. Need a kids menu as well. My 10 year old had to order an adult meal. When he couldn't finish it, they wouldn't let us take it away with us so a big waste.

   Except for the service and food it's great. River Quay Fish is in one of the best locations in Brisbane - in Southbank looking over the river and city. The layout has a nice flow from the inside to out and catches lovely breezes from the river on warm Brisbane evenings. It was truly pleasant just to sit there and watch the people go by. Sadly the food and service don't live up to the promise of the locality. We were there on a quiet-ish Saturday evening with the restaurant never more then half full - no more 20 diners in total. After being greeted and seated we were left alone. After 10 minutes of inattention we asked if the restaurant provided table service or should we go to the bar to order drinks? A fairly strong hint I thought. We were 1 minute away from walking out (19 minutes) when a waitress asked if we'd like to order anything and seemed genuinely surprised that we were in the restaurant for food and drink. We started with a shared Fish Taco plate which was quite good - needed a better sauce though. Followed up with a deconstructed prawn cocktail (prawns overcooked) and twice cooked octopus which had lost any texture but was OK. We shared a Moreton Bay Bug main which was generous in size and the bugs were cooked perfectly. The accompanying sweet chilli sauce was completely wrong for the dish as were the chewy spirals of green papaya salad (what's wrong with the conventional shredded green papaya I wonder?). The buttery pan drippings that the bugs were cooked in luckily provided a perfect sauce for the dish. With 2 glasses of wine each the bill was $150, so not ridiculously expensive but not good value for money. Hopefully the chef and the wait staff will lift their game so River Quay Fish lives up to its surroundings.

   We booked online and received a confirmation but unfortunately upon arrival there was no booking for us. I was told I hadn't booked but upon showing the confirmation on my phone a table was found! No apology but that being said the location was great , the food was ok (except the fish of the day in beer batter was quite undercooked and rubbery) and everything was very over salted but my flathead was nicely cooked. Our waitress was pleasant and did apologise when we were charged for something we ordered but were told had run out. All in all it was fine.

   Lovely place next to the Brisbane River. Not a large menu but interesting. The fish tacos are delicious but the tempura flathead was not exactly a tempura batter. Staff were delightful and very efficient. Cold tap water is preferable to luke warm on a hot day.

   It is a great location and outlook and while I am a fan of quick service, I was surprised when four meals were delivered to the table within five minutes of ordering including tempura and crumbed fish, octopus and bugs, suggesting that the food had been pre-cooked and simply re-heated or finished off. I get this technique is used in restaurants to ensure quick service but the bugs in particular were overcooked and starting to disintegrate. Seafood takes so little time to cook anyway, not sure why it wouldn't just be cooked to order and ensure fresh and appetising meals.

   Fast efficient service - the best I've had in a long time. I am gluten free and I loved that there was more than 1 choice for the entree and main courses. The menu choices and the meals we received were wonderful although some of the meal sizes were a little small for the price compared to other eateries we visited on our holiday.

   Great position overlooking the green, river,city and watching the comings and goings of passers by. Handy to all things Southbank. We took a leisurely stroll from Goma and QAG on a Sunday arriving earlier than booked but staff happy to seat us. Menu appears to have improved. Both fish meals were perfectly cooked. Staff nicely attentive and even with some menu items unavailable after a couple of busy days, the offerings were very well explained upfront. Good food at a fair price and I like that the restaurant is on the end of this strip, without a neighbour on one side. Have visited a fair few times and will no doubt return for yet another relaxing week-end lunch.

   we arrived to be told that open table keeps making bookings for this restaurant when there isnt any available. we were told that the restaurant had a private booking for whole restaurant which left us not having any reservation s on News Years Eve. very let down

    went for a friend's gathering and found that they have not really improved from the cove bar days. Despite the focus on seafood, not everything was available and the oysters we ordered did not taste very fresh. For the same price, I could have much better meal elsewhere and the views at the restaurants nearby are actually better. Service also was quite poor as we had to try many times to get the staffs attention. Would not recommend this restaurant to my friends and would not be back.
