River Grass Grill Coral Springs
River Grass Grill is a classic American restaurant. This eatery has a rustic charm to it, reflecting the lifestyle of living on the water. Much of the decor is nautically themed, but subtly so. Many of the walls retain an unfinished wood look while the dining area has plenty of plants in it, specifically the river grass that the restaurant gets its name from.
The best way to start a meal at River Grass Grill is with the raw bar. Here, guests can order items like shrimp cocktail, oysters, clams, fresh Florida stone crab and a Hawaiian-style tuna poke. Other appetizers include a prosciutto wrapped baked brie in puff pastry and a three cheese French onion soup. As for entrees, particularly hungry guests should try the blackened mixed grill that has mahi-mahi, jumbo shrimp, giant scallops, green apple mango slaw, rosemary garlic mashed potatoes and vanilla rum butter.
Great quiet spot with good quality food. MIddle of the road prices. Good portions.
The crab and corn crusted grouper was great. The Caesar salad was so-so.
First time at this restaurant and very pleasantly surprised. It was not busy and service was excellent. We ordered Tuna and it was prepared exactly as ordered. Had excellent strawberry short cake for dessert. Our waiter was knowledgeable and service was prompt.
We had the crab and corn crusted grouper and the filet. Both were excellent.
My martini was a little watery--wondering why the waiter asked me how
many olives I wanted (3) but then only gave me l.
New Year Eve Reservation FAIL
We read the reviews - Service is bad but food is good. We made a reservation for the NYE Scheduled 7pm Seating. The restaurant didn't have enough staff working and asked those of us that showed up - 7-8 parties, to wait as they were not prepared to seat us yet. The Manager couldn't speak with us because she was in the kitchen assisting. The Hostess was handling beverages on the Dining Floor. After 30 minutes of waiting, we left. How does this restaurant stay in business?
Will never go back, this was the New Years special and they not handle even the small crowd they had. This was way over priced and then they couldn't handle a credit card
All & All VERY DISAPOINTING.
Christmas Eve Fix Price menu. Great food, wonderful service. Generous portions. Our favorite restaurant.
We were late in booking dinner for Christmas Eve due to a last minute change. Fortunately River Grass Grill was able to accommodate us. This was our first visit and we were very pleased with the cocktails, appetizers, dinner, and desert. the food was excellent. The only drawback was that our server could have used a little more training. We will visit the restaurant again with friends.
The seafood is very well done. The dinner offering of chicken Milanese and lobster risotto was very tasty.
Filet mignonette done perfect.
The owners of River Grass clearly put some TLC into the look and feel of this Coral Springs dining room, but I didn't feel they put the same care into the food selection. I found the menu to offer only a limited selection. That said, I had the seafood gumbo and found it to be quite good.
We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food served. After originally viewing the menu online, we were also surprised to find a Sunset Dinner Menu for early arrivers. This provided a few of the choices on the regular menu at a greater value as a 3-course meal. The only disappointment was the Chocolate Ganache cake which appeared and tasted like a small chocolate muffin with Hershey's chocolate sauce lightly brushed on top. Everything else was quite good, though.
Great surprise! Wasn't expecting much, but inside you would never know this was in a strip mall. Fish was cooked perfectly. Reasonably priced and good service. Definitely would come again as it beats chain restaurants.
Good flavor...Good service... Reasonable price...The only thing I would criticize about the restaurant is the ambience lags behind the food and dining experience
My wife and I went there for dinner for the first time and we pleasantly surprised of how excellent the food was. We will definitely go back soon.
Our meal was awesome. Server was excellent. Great birthday for my husband! Will defiantly go back.
I used to frequent this restaurant when it was Blue moon Fish Company. I believe it must be the same owners as some of the dishes are carry overs from that menu. Started off with fresh warm bread with a very good balsamic/oil/grated cheese dip. Service was pleasant but very spotty. It took a long time for or drinks to come out and a long time too get our meals. This restaurant is not cheap, but the food quality was excellent and the portions were good sized.
Food was good, but just as in some other reviews I've read, they have to work on their service. I can't accept excuses like the kitchen was slammed when the restaurant was only half full. Took nearly a half hour before soup and salad was served. I would definitely return if they improve their service. Not sure I would if they don't.
Nice neighborhood restaurant. The drinks were weak but the food was yummy.
Food, presentation and service are always excellent. We go at least once a month. I do wish they would put their hamburger back on dinner menu. Even though it is primarily a seafood restaurant, they made one of the best hamburgers around.
This dinner was their monthly "Wine Dinner" where they showcase wines from a particular region. There are four courses plus dessert and each course is accompanied with a different wine. The food, service and wine was great. The noise level was quiet at first, but by the third or forth course, it was a little merrier. The invitations are sent out to their e-mail customers, so you may want to get on the list. It is "fix price" at $55 per person plus tax and gratuity. Quite a deal. We also eat there regularly and it is our favorite restaurant. Bob and Bonnie
We went out for an early dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant was almost empty and quiet, we were seated immediately. I ordered the yellowfin tuna, cooked sashimi style, with jullien veges. It was excellent, and cooked to perfection. My wife got the Salmon, which was served with mashed potatoes and sauté veges,... A huge plate of excellent food.
We will definitely be back. Cannot believe this place is not more crowded. It's not cheap, and with the quality and quantity served, it should not be cheap. As good as many of the fancier, more expensive restaurants in, Boca, Delray and Las Olas. Just missing the atmosphere.
The ambiance and most of the food was great. Service was good.
I did tell the hostess that this was my mom 94th birthday and was surprised that not even a cup cake with a candle was offered. The shrimp appetizer was small (3 large shrimp for $13.00 and the shrimp was not large, not ordering that again). Overall it was good, except for the 2 things mentioned. Thanks
Food consistently very good at fair prices. Our waiter Kris is very attentive & we always ask for him. The hostess Angela is always pleasant & greets you a big smile
Food was great, and drinks were wonderful. Service was a little slow to start, then it was great.
Food was yummy and moderately priced, service was friendly and attentive .... they start you out with bread and an irresistible olive oil/balsamic vinegar/shredded parm dip .... I ordered a 1/2 portion of a lovely salad with blue cheese, glazed nuts, bacon crumbles and apple slices ($6) plus the tasty tuna poke appetizer ($9) .... plenty of food for a $15 dinner .... my friend loved her large portion of snapper with shrimp and took 1/2 home .... I hadn't been here since it was Blue Moon (I used to take my mom when it was Hobo's, we loved it back then, I heard it's the same chef all these years) .... we will definitely be back!
They were out of just about everything we ordered. The food wasn't great. Prices were high for food quality.
The food was wonderful. Our service was very good but our server wasn't too friendly. It was a Saturday night, we were referred by the Coral Springs Marriott and it was an excellent recommendation. Oddly, there were only a handful of tables full. Must be a well kept secret. We had the sea bass and the scallops and they were perfectly prepared. Dessert was delightful as well.
Well worth the trip, excellent dinner & service. Will gladly return soon.
Great gumbo . Fresh fish with excellent sauces. We didn't know they opened until we received an email from open table listing new restaurants .
We had a wonderful meal here and terrific service. I had the salmon, which was perfectly done with a little crunchy glaze on the outside. My husband had the swordfish, blackened & although fish isn't normally his 1st choice, he really enjoyed it. The menu had a variety of food for all tastes. The ambiance was pleasant and quiet and we will return soon!
The food is very good and the staff are pleasant, however, the service is painfully slow. We have brought friends and been there for dinner once and the Sunday brunch 3 times. The brunch serves small portions of a variety of tasty dishes. While the brunch format is inviting, being able to sample a variety of dishes, they serve only 1 plate at a time and it takes 20-30 minutes for the next plate to come out. 2 hours for 3 small plates of food (2-3 bites per plate) was way too long. The waiter told us the chef refuses to go any faster and serve more than one plate at a time.
The restaurant was not crowded (25% of the tables in use) and another table got up and walked out after waiting 20 minutes just to get water and place their first order.
The food was great. My only complaint was a poorly made Manhattan--way too much
bitters in it. My waiter happily traded it in for a well made martini.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance. There is a quiet up stated feeling. You can dress up or be casual. Coral Springs needs this kind of restaurant. You can actually hear each other without raising your voice. The server was prompt and and very helpful. The food was excellent and the most beautifully displayed. I was so delighted. The portions were just right. The price was very reasonable for the type of restaurant.
Have eaten there before and even though the service wasn't the best the food made up for it. However this time the service was so awful i don't think I will ever go back. It put a huge damper on the evening. In addition there were no specials on a Saturday night and they were out of two entrees as well,as the bottle of wine we ordered. We asked where the manager was and the answer was in the back doing paperwork. She was never notified to come to us nor were we compensated in any way for the poor service except the waiter saying sorry I was backed up. It took over 20 minutes before we even got a glass of water or for anyone to approach our table, an hour for drinks and even a bread basket. Our reservations were at 8:00 and we first had our order taken around 10:00. It's a shame because it was nice to go to a neighborhood restaurant that isn't a chain
Service was terrible. Couldn't even get waiters attention to clear the table or give us a check. Very disappointing!
Not crowed yet slow service Food just OK Disappointed as I live in town
A good fish place is pretty rare in Western Broward.
We both had different ridges and they were truly outstanding.
Wait service was just so so or I would have given 5 stars. They have no craft beers which is a miss, but the food was great and very reasonable.
Great food nice staff definitely will go back and recommend the restaurant service was good kitchen was a little slow but was worth the wait
This restaurant used to be the Blue Moon Fish and the décor is the same. After further investigation it appears to be the same owner. Why the change of names, who knows. The food was pretty good but the service pretty poor. Not enough servers and it would have been nice to have the owner to stop by each table.
