River Crab - St. Clair Ratings and Reviews
Everything was great from beginning to end. Complimentary valet so no hassle parking. We dined here for Thanksgiving. They were extremely busy but the wait was minimal. Our servers were fantastic and never had to wait for anything. My family all took a vow that we would never eat out for Thanksgiving again after several horrible meals. To give myself a pat on the back my Turkey dinner is off the charts good, it take five days to prepare, everything from scratch. The buffet at River Crab is the best I have ever had. Stuffing was flavorful and not pasty. Gravy was flavorful and made with a reduction stock, YUM! Turkey is turkey but it was not dried out. all the sides were great.
Great food, beautiful view, quiet setting. I have always enjoyed dining at the River Crab, however, I would not recommend a Saturday night. Our server was very nice but was not always available when needed - had to ask another server for assistance which should not happen. Too often the servers were gathered talking and most notably, too busy setting up for Sunday morning brunch. Got the impression we got forgot about and were in the way - no one should feel rushed especially when spending this kind of money.
We were recommended to this restaurant, it is right on the St Clair River. We asked for and got a table right next to the water, not thinking with the time change it would be dark by the time we go there. No matter, we both had seafood and it was fresh and excellent. Service very good, it is a nice place. When we get back to Michigan, we plan to go in the daylight!
My parents, boyfriend and I took my grandparents here to celebrate their anniversary, and everyone had a great experience. The food was fantastic and we had great service. My grandparents even had special menus printed for them with a happy anniversary message printed at the top.
We decided to go here for our anniversary because my wife used to be a regular up until 5 years ago. The restaurant is right on the water and has gorgeous views during the day. I'd recommend going then because the food has definately taken a downturn. We ordered soup, salad and two entrees, along with dessert. The salad was excellent. The soup was not and was barely warm. The entrees....and before I say this, I'd like to point out this is a pricey place up here. 25+$ entrees should be at least hot. My potatoes and vegs were cold, ice cold. The fish was good. The pasta dish was also mediocre in taste and overall. The cheesecake is excellent. The tiramisu was melty and not very well presented. Lastly, the restrooms were deplorable. I don't usually comment on that aspect of dinner but I was astonished at how dirty and poorly maintained it was. I saw some renovation signs and hopefully the bathrooms are what's getting done first. I must say that our waitress (Pim?) Offered impeccable service and made the whole dinner worthwhile. Go during daylight hours, I hear the brunch is top notch, so there's that. Marine City has some new fish restaurants that are probably better otherwise.
The atmosphere on St Clair River is exceptional. The service was excellent! We have been coming to River Crab for years the food was good, but needs to update the menu. The salads are serve are cold plates, probably prepared days ahead then served with heavy salad dressing even though it was mentioned "light on the dressing". The seafood continues to be excellent. The Key Lime pie was served on a cold plate. (Even though this was prepared days ago it was still good!) And again as mentioned sitting by the window viewing the river was excellent!
River Crab consistently has great food and great service. The butternut squash soup and fish tacos with a nice crisp white wine was perfect as we watched the ships move down the St. Clair River. Service was attentive without being overbearing the the server was knowledgeable about food and wine.
Had our annual anniversary meal at the River Crab. Glass of wine, soup/salad and Snapper Hemingway and a shared Creme Brulee to finished. Mid-afternoon on a sunny Sunday after a pleasant drive was ideal - not crowded, nice window table, some river traffic made the meal an absolute delight - let alone celebrating our 37 wedding anniversary with my sweetie ! Really enjoy the seafood and the location. Need to plan to go more often !
We celebrated 45th Wedding Annivesary with our family. The staff made or evening extra special with a commemorative menu marking our anniversary.
Service was excellent, food was delicious and presentation of food was top drawer. The atmosphere was pleasing beside the water.
We have been frequenting River Crab fir more than 20 yrs and felt the last visit was the best.
I visited with my wife for our first anniversary. But unfortunately we were a burden to our waitress. "The impression she gave us" I ordered a steak rare and my wife ordered the salmon. Her salmon came out a little overdone. "No big deal" but my steak was medium well to well done. If I'm paying $40 for a steak I would like it cooked how I want it. Long story short I was unable to eat with my wife on our anniversary because it took another 30 minutes to cook another steak. I would not recommend the river crab to anyone. The manager came out to apologize to us. But too little too late.
