River Crab - St. Clair Ratings and Reviews
I had a great dinning experience for Valentines Day. Our food was delicious and the service attentive. My frustration is that not even 24 hours later I am already receiving spam emails from the restaurant that I never agreed to or want. OT and River Crab suck for that.
My meal was nicely proportioned and tasted delicious. The service was 5 Star all the way. Arrived at the restaurant 5 minutes before reservation time and seated immediately. Lovely view of the whole restaurant. Lori our sever was prompt and knowledgeable. My date enjoyed the night, Thank you
The River Crab is our Number one restaurant and has been for about 40 years. The service and food is always excellent if perhaps, a bit over priced in my estimation. That being said, the price is worth the service, ambiance and quality of food. Be it a special occasion or just a quick drink and snack this is the place. Dress formally or casually, you won't feel out of place and you will enjoy the experience. We have never had a bad one.
We have been to the River Crab a number of times over the years. The food seems to get better and better. Even at night in the winter, sitting at a window table watching the ice float down the St. Clair River is a treat. In the summer, watching the river traffic can be very entertaining. Highly recommend it.
Always a pleasant meal. The food is great. The servers are friendly, but not excessively so, and efficient. Service was surprisingly fast for this type of restaurant but if you want to linger there is no pressure at all to move along. We don't eat here often because it's a pretty long drive and is a little pricy, but this is one of our top 2 special occasion restaurants.
King Crab Legs are my favorite. Just started the Keto Diet, and they are on the list and on the menu...fabulous!
Management is always around making sure your order is perfect and to ensure the atmosphere and needs of all guests.
Martha is the best; she remembers everyone's name and treats everyone like family.
We have been to River Crab about a year or 2 ago and we were very happy with our meal. We came in with the same couple we were with at that time Saturday night but this time very disappointed. We took a special trip over from Sarnia Ontario and looking so forward to it.
We found the food portions small I ordered filet mignon 8oz cooked medium rare it was just OK and I know that cut of meat is very lean and my sister in law had the 6oz, mine looked to be the same size. It just did not look like much on my plate, a few asparagus spears and smashed potatoes was it. It seemed that everything else was extra the salad I thought when we were there last was included with the meal or for a little extra charge if you didnt want salad you could add a soup. I was happy with my appetizer the east meets west was excellent and gave me a generous serving of tuna it pretty much ended there. My husband had the Alaskan King Crab for $58 he was disappointed the legs were small had to fight to get the meat out and seemed not the freshest and I realize they are shipped but thought they were maybe sitting in a freezer too long. My brother in law had the surf and turf he said the beef was just OK not spectacular the lobster was good and lots of meat. My sister-in-law said her filet seemed a little tough cooked to her liking but again not great.
We could of had an over the top meal at a restaurant at home and money left over for what we paid, $160 U.S. and we have to pay extra for exchange on the currency. I realize that's not your problem but we were disappointed with our dinner to go back now will not be at the top of our list as before we were expecting such a treat.
Our waiter was the bright spot very friendly and accommodating. Would of loved to experience the patio in the summer with the great view on the water it is a nice spot there.
We really enjoyed our meal. The service was outstanding thanks to Erica. The view of the river is great from the dining room! The Sunday brunch is fantastic! The Manager Martha always makes every effort to ensure that your dining experience is great. The menu has something for everyone and very reasonably priced.
We visited to our 20th anniversary. The food was delicious. We had a lovely view of the river along with wonderful company. The restaurant was quiet and comfy. Our server was nice and knowledgeable. I had the Cajun chicken tortellini which had a sauce that was rich like a gravy but did not overwhelm the delicious pasta. My Caesar salad was tasty but could have used a bit more dressing to make the cheese cling to the lettuce. The lettuce was fresh and crisp which made the salad one of the best I've had. Almond encrusted Brie was mouth watering to look at and tasted even better. It was great to share as well. Please note that if you have allergies to tree nuts or shellfish, this restaurant serves many items containing such ingredients. They are delicious and aromatic, but may be a health concern for those persons with allergies. Overall one of the best lunches ever. Thank you!
this evening was with my family. My CA kids loves this place when they visit. This last time disappointed not seated on the porch. Appeared to have lots of open tables. As a member I have always been seated on the porch. That why my kids like to come when they are in town.
Erica our server was great.
My friend had the tortellini and had to send it back it was so salty. But our crab-stuffed salmon was delicious and the asparagus were cooked perfectly. The mashed red skin potatoes were great. The best thing about the whole meal was the creme brulee for dessert and the outstanding service that we had.
Great scenic view, with freighters cruising by on the St. Clair River. Celebrated my birthday and received a free creme brulee which was fantastic. Oysters were fresh and shucked perfectly, King Crab Legs were steamed to perfection and my husband's Cold Water Lobster Tail was moist, succulent, and would order again...NOT rubbery at all! Wine list is priced well and has a wide variety to choose per your palate pleasure. Service was friendly and timed well.
I have been coming to the River Crab for years and will continue to be a customer. The seafood selections are alway excellent, fresh, new, delicious. It is the only restaurant in the area that has the seafood selection and the overall wonderful dining experience of a great seafood restaurant.
Jimmy our server was outstanding. We had a lot of time to chat so he was patient with us. The scallops for appetizers were perfect! Jimmy helped with the wine Choices that paired well with our meals
Salmon Oscar special was very good as well as my shrimp with black pepper fettuccine
