We were not sure what to expect on our first visit but the atmosphere and furnishings were pleasant and probably indicative of the owners reputation. The staff were very welcoming but with only two serving it became slightly hit and miss as the number of lunchtime customers increased. The food was very tasty and sufficient for our needs. Our only real quibble was that it wasn't very hot. The soup and squid were lukewarm and our main meals were much the same. With our drinks the bill came to nearly £60 for the two of us, a bit high to recommend regular visits and certainly in excess of similar establishments in the area.

We had a table booked on New Years Day at 2.30pm. We have been wanting to eat at the restaurant for a while now so NYD seemed the perfect day to dine at a special restaurant. Once we had been sat down we were straight away informed that there were no brioche buns for the venison burger and also the 24 hour roast pork is no longer available as there hasn't been enough time to cook it!! Eliminating the pork left not much of an option for the meat lovers and the rest of the menu was a little dissapointing. I went for the Venison burger (which came more like a sandwich) unfortunately the venison was very dry and the patty crumbled and didn't hold its form. I'm a TV producer who has been working in food television for over 10 years now and have never had a meal from a well respected chefs restaurant that I haven't enjoyed! Very dissapointed and unfortunately will not be recommending this eatery.

The starter was OK but a bit bland. Main chicken good but green vegies limited to 'greens' of only one kind. None of us liked what we assumed was kale and would have appreciated a choice of green vegie. My pear was bland although the chocolate cake was awesome.

Good food but service very very slow- and rigid rule that the whole table had to eat from the same menu (there was a choice of Christmas menu or normal dinner menu) seemed unnecessarily restrictive. Waitress was sweet and apologetic that we waited an hour between starter and main course. Expensive for what is was too (compared to Jamie's Italian just down the road)

We arrived after making a last minute booking and got seated at nice table upstairs. The menu had interesting options and everyone was excited for the food. The service was questionable from the start with drinks missing and it being generally difficult to place an order. After managing to place our order we had to wait an hour for our food. When my food came it was missing about half of the broth compared to my partner who ordered the same dish. Being a seafood stew it was quite essential to have this in order to be a complete dish. The food itself was good but it could not make up for the poor service and seemingly poor kitchen management.

Lovely converted church location. Lunch menu had a good selection of vegetarian food which was very tasty and reasonably priced. The service was great and there was a nice ambience. Would definitely return.

This is our third visit for Sunday lunch. The vegetarians enjoyed a great tapas meal and my son and I had fabulous roast dinner. The staff were friendly, service is efficient and the atmosphere is relaxed and buzzy.
