Ambiance/music and staff friendliness were highlights. I felt the menu very appealing but the food quality and taste did not measure up. Disappointing with all the great restaurants around.
Love this place. We did have an issue with our order, but the staff did fix to our satisfaction
I love this place and will keep coming back every time I’m in boulder. Great food from great sources, friendly staff, and expect at least three people to say goodnight and thank you as you leave.
I'd only recommend if you are going to sit outside. The food was ok, came lukewarm, service lukewarm as well for inside tables. I've eaten here a few times and it's always this way. Ambiance is nice, staff is nice enough, just always super slow and vague service.
We had a very enjoyable evening with amazing delicious dishes and fantastic service. Your menu has so many different and fun choices. We had the oysters and lamb skewers. Yum! We shared a dessert, bourbon butterscotch pudding, which was to die for. I especially appreciated your offerings of non-alcoholic drinks.
Not something you find at most restaurants. The only part of our experience at River and Woods that was not top notch was the noise level in the dining room. We will definitely visit again and have already recommended River and Woods to a number of our neighbors and friends here in Estes Park.
We've been a few times, some of the dishes are delicious, others less spectacular. Had the lamb kofte this past visit and it was a bit boring and lamb kind of tough and rubbery. Duck wings are always delicious!
It's interesting that you call the noise level energetic. It was deafingly loud to the point you had to shout when talking! Most of our group of 4 just stopped talking. There was music playing also that you couldn't hear. The whole experience was unpleasant!
Great food and atmosphere and amazing service. When it began raining, the staff quickly set up tents for us outdoor folks.
Having a quiet environment where I can actually talk to my friends is important to me. I enjoy River and Woods outside dining because of the lower noise level as well as the nice ambiance outside. The inside is a little noisy for me, although I still like your restaurant but I am less inclined to dine inside.
Took my friend to lunch for her birthday. The food and service were both great.
I really enjoy coming to River and Woods to see the new additions to the menu. The food has been consistently good. They cater to all dietary needs. Enjoyed eating outdoors in their patio setting.
We went for lunch. Very cute place with good service and great food!
Overall nice spot with great atmosphere. Worthy of 4 stars had we not had an issue with one of our meals coming out over cooked.
Local Gem! Great outdoor seating. Nice diverse menu, I had the Mountain Trout, and the bacon wrapped dates. Really good beer and wine list. Prices are reasonable.
Service was excellent.
Very enjoyable meal and place. Will become a regular.
A number of reviews recommended the duck wings - we are adding to those reviews! Have the duck wings! They are very meet and simply wonderful. Also had the short ribs which was tender as can be and the trout. Everything was great. We enjoyed sitting outside, more fun watching others.
Very homey. Everything we had, including what we got for our kid from the kids menu was delicious!
Veggie Benedict was so flavorful and delicious!
As with many of the reviews below 5 stars, my only complaint comes with the outdoor seating. It was in the mid-90s when we arrived and we were sat in a row of two tops which were in direct sunlight. We, along with everyone who was sat there over the next hour and a half, asked to move. I understand you have to maximize your seats, but those tables should’ve been the absolute last to be seated. Their distribution among servers dispersed so no one server had a “bad section.” I heard other people’s requests to move met with hesitant responses. Were there no other tables available, it would’ve been understandable, but as there were shaded tables in view, it was awkward for everyone. That being said Nate, who took care of us, was fantastic and obliging and the food was near perfect. I’d definitely be back but make a reservation note to request seating.
A very laid back quiet garden spot in the heart of Boulder. If you are in a rush - dine elsewhere.
If you want to enjoy excellent food and converse with friends in quiet, congenial atmosphere - then make your reservation.
We went to celebrate our anniversary and Nate was our waiter. He was fantastic, the food was amazing and we had a wonderful evening!
Great atmosphere with a casual feel, tasty comfort food with an elevated touch!
We loved River and Woods. We decided to go with the braised short rib plate, which is considered one of their sharable plates. We also got the Mac and cheese (another sharable item), and the crispy brussel sprouts. All of the food was amazing. Our waiter Nate was friendly and attentive.
Since we shared the dinner we decided to get dessert too. OMG.... Their creme brulee cheesecake with mango topping on the side was exquisite.
We will be back.
This place was good ! I had the trout and my boyfriend had the duck wings. Both were good and everything tasted fresh . The place has a cute atmosphere as well.
We didn’t realize this was an indoor/outdoor establishment when booking our reservation and we were seated outdoors for our dinner. It was a hot August evening so that probably didn’t help our experience (and the flies were particularly bad this evening also). We started with the poutine and duck wings which we all really enjoyed. For entrees my daughter had the mushroom lobster ravioli, my wife and son had the steak frites (hanger steak) and I had the chicken tacos. I really enjoyed the chicken tacos and my daughter is fairly picky but she liked her ravioli. My wife and son weren’t as impressed with the steak frites. I sampled the steak as well and agreed it was on the tough side, a little over cooked past medium and had an unusual flavor. The service was good. The worst part however was that my wife, son and I all developed stomach aches that evening. Seems like it must have been the steak since we all ate that. Although most of the dishes were quite tasty the overall experience lead us to agree that we probably won’t be returning.
A caveat: we ate outside, which accounts for my description of the noise level. Previously, we’ve eaten inside and it was very loud.
Food and drinks are creative and delicious.
Best part is the amazing service. Very attentive and conscientious without being very invasive. So pleasant and, these days, so rare.
Unique wonderfully executed food. Might be nice to have a few standards behind the bar, but overall it was great. I’ve already recommended it to others.
Celebrated roommates 19th birthday and the staff was delightful. Hail storm pushed inside from our outdoor reservation, but we were happy with table and didnt have to wait.
This is my new favorite place in boulder during the summer. The back yard is so peaceful and stays cool even on hot days due to so much shade. Love their lunch options (had lunch there 2 days ago and highly recommend the GF deep fried chicken tacos) and am meeting some friends for happy hour tonight...cant wait to see what's on that menu!! Food is creative and delicious!!
Lovely backyard seating. Went for breakfast and seated right away. Had some delicious bloody Mary’s while waiting for our 4th.
Service was personable and attentive.
Had breakfast burritos and BELTs which we all enjoyed. Had the churros for dessert - definite must.
Sit outside if the weather is nice - though inside is fine. We were visiting from California - so prices seemed great. Great selection - I had trout - it came out hot and tasted very fresh. Great staff - laid back but professional - super friendly.
Such a cute find in downtown Boulder! We made a reservation to sit outside for dinner and I’m so glad we did. The backyard is beautiful and relaxing, and the food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back!
Great brunch! Food was fantastic! Service was great! Just a little noisy!
Food was fine. Service seemed untrained and unaware of what was going on.
Delicious, varied, unique food choices, terrific staff and service. Outside dining is superb! I can’t wait to dine there again! Thanks
This was my second time at River and Woods and I was so excited. We had reservations for an outdoor table at 7:00. I called that day around 5:00 and asked if we could push it back to 8:00 and I was told that would be absolutely no problem. We then showed up early at 7:40 and they couldn't seat us yet which was fine. Then at 8:00, they still couldn't seat us. Finally about 8:20 they offered us a table inside. It was pretty warm inside and we were really looking forward to being outside. Also, our waiter was great but he never came back to see if my husband wanted a second drink. I will go again but I was very disappointed.
We went to River and Woods as a part of my bachelorette party. There were ten of us - the table was ready when we got there, the food was delicious and all came out in a timely manner, our server was fantastic. Such a cute restaurant with a great ambiance. A must-do in Boulder!
SUPERB. the SIMPLE yet healthy menu options; the drink availability, the ambience, the low level yet pleasant vocal "buzz", the EXTREMELY pleasant staff, the comfortable yet classy feel, the INCREDIBLY cute outdoor space.... all of it. the vibe was PERFECT. Dylan was our server and he was wonderfully accommodating to my limitations (crutches!)
We had a wonderful time and the service was amazing. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our 8th anniversary.
Loved it here so much! Such great service from every single person who interacted with us - not to mention every single thing my group and I order was delicious, beautifully presented, and perfectly priced. I would recommend this place a thousand times over to friends who are stopping by Boulder next time!
