Very attentive staff, great food. Portions on the smaller side but very good and the drinks are jigger poured so... but very nice place. I went on a Monday and basically rented the place. I would guess Wednesday thru Saturday to be much busier.
Loved the food, server was outstanding, and the decor beautiful.
My husband and I enjoyed the pre-set Valentines menu. The food was creatively paired with different yet delicious flavors. We will definitely be back. It was the perfect setting for a date night.
It was our valentine dinner. The place was not very busy when we arrived and yet every table right next to us was used before the rest of the place. It would have been nice to have some separation. Our waiter, John, was very informative and enthusiastic. The food was delicious.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed our lovely Valentine’s Day dinner. We heard some great things about the restaurant and figured it was the perfect time to try it out. Will definitely return for brunch!

Disappointed with the food, the restaurant was nearly empty as there was only two other tables occupied in the restaurant. The kitchen was slow to put out the food and when they did it was wrong. The hostess failed to inform my server of the notes I filled out on open table.
Server was great and did his best to make up for the poor experience.
We enjoyed our dining experience! We tasted several different appetizers, and everything was delicious. Our waitress was kind and patient with our group - we can be a little overwhelming! Great place for a special birthday celebration!
Beautiful restaurant with great service! It was my sister's birthday and they offered a free champagne glass or dessert of her choice, which was an unexpected treat! The food is fun to try and very good. We have been here a few times and are very satisfied. Tonight, my husband ordered the pork chop option, which they didn't ask how he wanted it cooked so we just assumed the chef would know. It came out well done so it was a little too dry for his liking. Also, the bubbly options offered are listed with the "white wines" so it took us a minute to find them and they were out of the two bottle options we wanted to drink. Highly recommend this restaurant for those visiting Columbus!
The waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. He gave us really good recommendations based on menu items he likes. The food was fabulous! Our son has been there before and said the food is always good. You will not be disappointed!

I thought the flavors were good but nothing special, actually a bit bland. They did go off menu for us for a sauteed vegetable plate which was the best thing we had. We liked the menu (very different).
I was visiting from Atlanta and was thrilled to find this farm to table restaurant. Dinner at R&R was a delicious enjoyable experience. $1 roasted oysters $3 Mexican draught beer, High west whiskey, pickled grapes gulf shrimp risotto. All outstanding!
the potato salad did not compliment the etoufee. Also we did not enjoy the fennel. a little pricey as well

First time visiting, restaurant looks great. Menu was a bit incomplete in my opinion but our meal was delicious.
This isn't eating, this is savoring. Their food is so good, I don't know why they're not in NYC. Every dish was exquisitely prepared, especially the alligator. Also delightful was the grilled romaine, the rabbit pot pie, the burger sliders & the pork chop. Unfortunately, we are only in Columbus for 2 days but ate there both nights. Both servers were completely knowledgeable about the food & preparation & the service is fantastic. The restaurant & ambience are lovely. One of the best places we have ever eaten.
The wait staff was very nice however our waitress brought my husband one of the entrees he asked about and not the one he ordered. My fried catfish was not cooked through and was raw on the inside. We also waited more than an hour for our dinner and there were no more than 10 tables being served including the bar. The menu was very interesting and had great choices. I will say that my husband loved his dinner even though it was not what he ordered.
I had heard great things about River& Rail but nothing compared to experiencing it ourselves. This is going to be one of our regular spots in no time!
Love the atmosphere and the ability to eat local and the unusual menu, which includes rabbit, lamb, alligator, quail, and venison. Everything was brought to the table quickly.
The four of us had:
Antipasto / Charcuterie / Cheese / Black Garlic / Pickles $16: Good appetizer.
Gumbo /Blue Crab / Alabama Okra $14: Flavor was ok, but not very filling. Once the inedible, uncrackable, tiny whole crab was removed, there was not much substance remaining. Since we wanted to crack open and taste the crab, I asked the server how, hoping he would bring us a tool, but he said he does not have any way to open the crab. Therefore, the crab was wasted.
Catfish / Fried Whole / Pimento Grits / Pepper Jelly / Louisiana Slaw $12: Good, but tedious to navigate all the bones of a whole catfish.
Venison / Osso Buco / Spaghetti Squash / Braising Vegetables $18. Good, but not memorable. The portion size was too small to share. If we go to River and Rail again, I would be more likely to get a lower-priced, more filling dish. The server said a more filling dish is the Lamb / Bolognese / Semolina Pasta $12.
The chardonnay is good.

My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant a number of times since its opening and have never had a bad meal. While some of the dishes will challenge conservative eaters everything we have ever eaten at R&R has been amazing. Brunch on Saturday or Sunday is also great (one of the few restaurants open on Sunday in the area).

A comfortable venue with some personality. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Our server was very good by explaining the menu and had a nice balance of being attentive but not disruptive. We were all a little disappointed with the food preparation but in fairness what was lacking for us may have been on point for another. We would definitely go back again because the menu changes with the local seasons.
Im a foodie and i also have a culinary degree. So i am open to prices and foods and i understand that its geared for sharing and tapas kind of idea. And while the prices themselves werent bad i personally felt as if the portions were to small food and drinks. I had counting sheep a 12 dollar cocktail which was yummy but it had ice sphere (very cool) it took up most of the space in the glass again very little alcohol for 12 bucks. But overall the food was delicious service great ambience was nice. I just left there hungry.

The quail we had was outstanding. Two dishes were okay. Two dishes we sent back. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and our server was nice but not attentive enough. We never received drinks quickly when asked. Overall, we will not return.
Went in for drinks at the bar. The bartender was well versed in everything they carried especially the beer on tap. We ended up eating multiple course and sharing everything. Left absolutely stuffed and wanting more. Can not wait to return.
What a delightful find in uptown. We went in for oysters and beer and ended up staying for the entire evening. We sat at the bar with Kelsey(?) who was an absolute delight. She guided us through the menu and had plenty of beer knowledge. After the oysters we had the tartar, the Rosso buco and finished with goat cheese cake and local honey. This was an absolutely amazing experience. We will be back for more very soon. Thank you guys for what you are doing.
Excellent food, great cocktails, fantastic service
Great menu with local ingredients. We were informed most of the farms are from Georgia and Alabama but Chef will go a little further to buy the best quality product. You can really taste the love and passion they are putting into everything. I loved the beer list, my S.O. really enjoyed their cocktail and after dinner drink. Great atmosphere and vibe in the building, it did not feel like Columbus but was as welcome as Columbus is. Can not wait to return.
What a find. Maybe this town is finally coming around. The changes and directions that are being made in downtown are apparent with these guys. To start the decor and vibe is absolutely amazing, then to be topped by top notch service and mind altering food. Beer menu was superb. The alligator, cauliflower soup in a pumpkin and tartar are must haves. We shared a whole stuffed flounder with crab, fennel, and shrimp topped with a herb saint citronella. Chef Bradley prepared this for us as an off menu item he was working on he said.
Can not wait to return.
This was our second time at River + Rail, and it lived up to our memories! Excellent and interesting cocktails (bring back Don Quixote!), delicious food, great service. We will continue to recommend this restaurant to friends, and return whenever we are in Columbus.
This was a wonderful experience. I will come back when I come back to town. The owner greeted us at the door and welcomed us to the city. The oysters were amazing.
