River & Rail
Closing of this spot will be a real loss for the dining community.
Great dining experience!! If you’re looking for different, this is the place. Upscale menu that is expertly cooked and presented. Our server, Johnny was amazing, and was able to adapt to our ‘unique’ sense of humor( aka, extreme smart a$$...). The owner, Faye, was present all evening throughout the restaurant, interacting with the patrons. Unfortunately she informed us the restaurant was slated to close shortly, due to management decisions beyond her control. This is so unfortunate because this place is a gem! Get there quick if you can, and enjoy the excellent food and service!! Good Luck to everyone there, and I hope to see you all back open in some form or fashion here in Columbus!!
Wonderful dinner. Loved the food and atmospher. Love Fay.
Excellent food, creative cocktails, exceptional service.
Simply amazing!!! Flavors were awesome and the experience was wonderful!
Slow service on a slow night, small portions. Incorrect drink orders delivered multiple times. Food was meh. Won’t be going back unfortunately.
We had the Lobster coconut bisque, the seafood risotto and the pecan pie parfait. All were excellent.
Waiter was incredible, but the menu was a little staunchy for our taste. We couldn't even choose our own sides. Amazing lobster bisque, though!!
Service was amazing. Ordered off menu drinks and bartender made some of the best cocktails I had in a long time. Rabbit was perfectly cooked and the seafood risotto was amazing. Will be coming back for future dates
The food was amazing, however I was unable to order the basic martini I wanted because the server said they were “too busy”, however the food was amazing! We will definitely be going back next time we visit Columbus!
Farm to table and smaller portion sizes are two amazing trends that I definitely support at this restaurant. The star of this restaurant are the ingredients and they are worth every cent and every savored bite!
The server was not very attentive. Had to ask 2 or 3 times for the same thing. Asked for black pepper. Never got it. My friend's food was cold. Food was not worth the value of $30.
Service was very slow, the appetizers were not very good, and the environment was loud, cramped, and uncomfortable. The entrees were the redeeming quality in terms of taste but the portions were incredibly small. We finished our plates in about 5 minutes and felt like we hadn't even eaten yet.
Great dinner for our wedding anniversary
John was FANTASTIC! Made a lovely birthday dinner 100x better!
On your website it doesn't inform us that brunch menu is different from dinner. I was under the impression that the same food would be served. My husband is a picky eater and didn't like anything on the menu so he picked something simple and still didn't like it. He only ate about 4 bites of his food and was finished. I'm more of an adventurous eater and liked my food. The plates are to small for the brunch because half of my food fell off my plate and onto the table.
Quick lunch at R&R was actually exciting in that the menu offerings were intriguing to read and truly satisfying!
Kudos to one of the best restaurants in the greater Columbus and Phenix City areas!
Our service was horrible. The waitress was not attentive at all. She was supposed to check on certain drinks for us and let us know but we did not see her again until they brought our food. The portion is extremely small. There are no appetizers, no sides and no side salads. Not very many options and it was really over prices for what you got and the taste of the entrees.
Columbus lacks these types of quality restaurants. Me and my sisters absolutely loved it. The food was delicious!!! Many people in this area don't want to pay a few extra dollars for this quality of food. That is why Columbus can't keep a good restaurant opened. Some of the portions were a little small for the price like the beet appetizer. It was fabulous! But overall, it was a great experience and great food. We will definitely be back.
The grilled oysters are phenomenal. Very friendly service
Went there for a girls nite out with a dear friend that I don't get to see very often. John, our waiter, was wonderful! Very knowledgeable, friendly and not once did we feel rushed. The food was nothing short of amazing! 5 star all the way, will definitely be back!
What a great find! Excellent food and service, great ambiance. This farm-to-table restaurant uses fresh local ingredients in a very unusual and creative way. I highly recommend this restaurant for people who like to try new food combinations. Everything was delicious!
This food was very high priced and unfortunately not worth it. We didn't enjoy anything on that we had. And i was sad about it.
I had noticed several negative reviews, but we were very happy with the meal and the service. Our waiter, Stormy, explained all the dishes to us and gave us some great recommendations based on our desires.
great food wonderful service warm friendly will be back
Chargrilled oysters at River and Rail are excellent and best deal in town on Tuesday-Wednesday. Other selections such as veal and steak delicious. This is truly a neighborhood gem.
Dinner was fun. I loved the rabbit! The tea sauce glaze was very good on the rabbit. Unfortunately the corn bread was very dry/over cooked. The side was kale and it was drizzled with the tea sauce and the dark green vegetable balanced the sweet taste of the rabbit very well. My husband had the veal Parmesan. He was very disappointed in that the Parmesan red sauce was very bland. The service was really good and the restaurant was nicely decorated, quiet and clean. I would go back and try another house specialty but would forego another veal Parmesan.
As one of the few restaurants open for Sunday Brunch, River & Rail does it right! The restaurant has a great atmosphere, offering indoor and outdoor seating, and impeccable service! Stormy, our waiter, was so welcoming and was quick to offer descriptions and persona recommendations in addition to insight on menu items popular with customers. My husband and I ate outside and enjoyed started with delicious and well-dressed Bloody Marys (served promptly at 12:30 pm, in accordance with Georgia state laws). We split the Fried Green Tomatoes with crawfish as an appetizer, which came highly recommended by Stormy. They were perfectly fried and are great for a shared plate (for 2 or 4). My husband got the Alligator BLT, and I got the Gulf Fish with grits. Although much creamier than I usually like grits, I still really enjoyed my entree. At the end of the meal, we ordered coffee and cleared our table to enjoy the bench seating/lounge area on the patio, where we enjoyed some sunshine! I highly recommend this restaurant!
My wife and I met friends for dinner and wine. The food is great and they have a good wine selection. I highly recommend River & Rail.
Fantastic restaurant. Brittany was our server and was so knowledgeable and helpful in making our decisions on what to order. We tried several menu items and everything was awesome. Staff is great. Food is great. Location is nice.
Great atmosphere. Nicely renovated old space. Broad menu choices.
Very eclectic menu and drinks: Delicious craft beers, wonderfully unique cocktails, and small but delicious plates of amazing food (the rabbit and the octopus were our faves). Service was great too. Thoroughly enjoyed!
We went to River & Rail for Sunday Brunch. It was my husband's birthday. He absolutely loved it. He had the open faced biscuit with crabby patties (still talks about how good it was), and I had the pulled pork over Texas toast with scrambled egg. Price for the quality and quantity of food was great. Would definitely go back again.
We had smoked hen; wild game pie; spaggatino; burgers, tater tots and sweet fried alligator. Everything was delicious, including our chocolate soufflé and cheesecake. One dessert was complimentary because it was my husband’s birthday. Our server was great! Didn’t get to try the wines though as we don’t drink. My family will definitely come back. Highly recommended place to dine when you’re in Columbus.
Outstanding food and global aesthetics.
If you are a foodie River and Rail needs to be on yout short list.
The variety and originality of the menu is commendable. The wait staff is great. I haven’t had anything on the menu, I didn’t like and I usually order multiple appetizers and an entree
Went for Easter Sunday brunch. Beautiful place, classy decor. We sat outside in the back courtyard, lovely. No kid menu but our boys were able to add scrambled eggs and fresh bacon to a pancake order. It’s a farm to table restaurant and foodie’s delight. Our server was fantastic! Becky, I think..forgive me if that’s not right, was very attentive, best we’ve had in a long time. Just remember adult libations can’t be served til 12:30 on Sundays 😕
