Really good experience, steak could have been a little warmer, but overall still a great evening...
Upon arrival we were shown to a table at the end of the restaurant, randomly away from everyone else, so we asked to move and we were accommodated quickly to a better table with everyone else which provided a better atmosphere.
The food and particularly the seafood was really good and tasty.
Service friendly and efficient.
The view from the rooftop lounge is the real draw. Food in the restaurant was better than average, but less than awesome. The service was the weak point. Pretty lackadaisical. It was a mismatch for the food and ambiance.
First time eating at River & Post, we enjoyed our meal very much! We especially enjoyed having a drink at the rooftop lounge and would have loved to have had appetizers up there . Hopefully they will be offered in the future as the view is beautiful!
Steak over cooked then brought another one out and still overcooked
Food was great, server was inattentive and visibly annoyed by menu vs allergy questions. Food also came to table with a side not asked for or listed on the menu which is not good because people have allergies and it could have had a bad outcome. The server was also giving incomplete and different descriptions of specials to different tables, again potentially bad outcome for people with allergies. He also just did things like asking how you are while walking past and not paying attention to if you answered. Thinking about it, he really sucked but other servers seemed good. I was there once before with a great server, so hopefully it's just the one guy in a place with otherwise great food and service
Had lunch outside but was expecting to eat on the roof top. The rooftop isn’t open until 4:30 for drinks and appetizers only. Bummer. So we ate outside. Very nice. Didn’t care for the curry conch chowder. The conch was too hard to chew/eat to many potatoes. Didn’t taste the curry. The cerviche was good and the fish tacos (mahi mahi) and burger was better.
Would definitely give it another go.
The rooftop view is amazing, my only complaint is not being able to order up at the rooftop. However, the service and food was great! I will definitely be dining there again!!
Great venue and value. Only recommendation would be to vary the music on the rooftop.
I was very impressed with the service, food, and atmosphere at River & Post. I made a reservation for a party of 10, and we were seated in a private room. Not only did we all enjoy our meals in the restaurant, we also finished the evening with cocktails at the rooftop bar. The views were amazing, and the service was (again) impressive. I would definitely recommend River & Post.
We had drinks on roof top as we have a number of times before. Service slow, drinks good but small and pricey. View spectacular. Couches and fireplaces nice vibe. Had dinner after sunset downstairs - again, service and food painfully slow. If we weren’t catching up would have been tedious. Open concrete ceiling -extremely loud. Hard to talk at a 4top. I would try to get one of the 4 booths in Wall next time and or sit in one of smaller dining areas. Food overall disapppointing after 45-60m wait. Buttermilk chicken -pieces my husband had were wing, rib and thigh - hardly any meat on them and way over cooked. My scallop perfectly cooked -six small scallops though. Pork chop looked and tasted exceptional. Salmon also tasty.
River and Post is a great spot to have a nice dinner experience while in Jacksonville. Our waiter said they opened in November and they have been busy ever since. The appetizers were excellent, crab beniets and iceberg salad, with Gorgonzola and Bacon. Dinner was fantastic, Seafood Medley with linguine was very tasty and a New York Strip with crumbled blue cheese was outstanding. Ambience at the restaurant was modern but very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
Great dining for a date or special occasion. Food was delicious. After dinner the rooftop is a great place to relax and enjoy spirits.
Our party of four definitely enjoyed our lunch dining experience at River & Post. The food and service were excellent. The decor, including the beautiful aquarium, is very nice. We will return and would recommend River & Post.
Food and service was great. Noise level was a bit high at times to carry on a business conversation at a table of four.
The terrace is phenomenal! Great view and nice seating arrangements with fire pits. The restaurant is modern and clean. Service was o.k. but not super attentive. Drinks are excellent.
This was our first visit, but will not be our last! The entire experience was very good. Our server, Sarah, was helpful in choosing our meals, and was very attentive to us. The food was delicious and served promptly as we had show tickets. Sarah suggested that we check out the roof-top lounge before we left. Great views from the ninth floor.
Food and service awesome, our waiter Patrick was excellent the entire night at River and Post was well worth the money
Food was excellent and the service was great. I highly recommend having a drink on the rooftop bar before your meal, the view is incredible.
Noise so loud that I had to shout across the dinner table to be heard by my date. We walked out before even ordering. It has all the ambiance of Denny's. Don't waste your time or money going here. Worthless.
Wonderful service and perfect night for husband Bday.
Wonderful fresh seafood, well prepared. Friendly and attentive service. Nice wine selection. Was easy access and seating for Mom in wheelchair. Mom is from New England and had been on the search for a good lobster roll. Said this one was the best she has found outside of Maine.
And best of all, plenty of parking!
Look forward to visiting the rooftop bar soon.
What a great experience ! From the moment we walked in the door until we left. The specials were amazing.
We tried R & P on a recommendation. The food was delicious, view was to die for and when we had an undercooked piece of pork, the manager was all over it. An excellent sign for a new business.
There was a very noisy group in our areas which made it
overly loud but that was an unfortunate fluke.
The short rib special was FANTASTIC! All 6 of us enjoyed our meals!
We had an early reservation so it was not very crowded. We each had salads and they were very good. The server was helpful, friendly and efficient. Have also been for dinner prior weekend with friends and had a great experience.
Food and Sevice were very good. The only issue we had was the entrees came out before we even had a chance to finish our salads.
Great ambiance, good food, and excellent wait staff. Would recommend and I look forward to going again.
The downstair section is not to be recommended at all for a gathering, as it is very loud and the noise level is truly unpleasant. The roof top does have a beautiful view of the city, and the blankets were well appreciated.
A great addition to the Jacksonville dining scene. Fantastic rooftop bar.
Excellence meal. Prices reasonable. Bar brands somewhat limited. Noise level a bit higher than I prefer. Difficult to have a conversation. Will difinitly return to try other menu items.
I was so disappointed. While it's a beautiful setting, it was noisy and this was a Monday night. My crabcake special was expensive, cold, and tasteless. The vegetables were soggy and greasy and the French fries were the same. Will only give it another shot if treated to by someone and will only eat outside.
Service was okay, but the food was good, yet pricey, then we went upstairs to finish our bottle which was absolutely beautiful.
Wonderful neighborhood spot. Food was delicious. Will definately come again
Mediocre food and poorly trained service staff...but great views from the bar
Living in a coastal town, I've become accustomed to numerous restaurants that offer fresh, locally sourced seafood. I had high hopes for this restaurant but the menu was limited and unimaginative. The rooftop bar had a lovely view but the seating areas were not cleared from previous patrons' empty bottles and glasses. Food was in very small portions. Tried scallops, shrimp, crab, and fish- none of it was fresh or flavorful. Prices were a bit high for the quality. There are simply too many other options in town that do seafood very, very well.
We came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch at 12:45. We were celebrating with our family for 40th birthday & a promotion. Place stayed barely 1/2 full during our time there. After waiting 25 min, I approached the hostess to ask for a waitstaff person to come take our order (party of 4 adults + 2 kids), since we had only received water up to this point. A new waitress which we hadn't met yet, came & apologized and was very attentive and good. We ordered our food and by almost 2p our food was served. Kids were starving. Their food came out a couple min before ours (parent speak = HORRIBLE!!) A manager came to apologize and said our appetizer was comped and they wanted to treat us to dessert. So we ordered a banana split. It was brought to the table and the waitress said, 'This really pains me to tell you we ran out of bananas.' SERIOUSLY?? Bananas!! She asked us to please pick out something else. We declined politely since it was now a few minutes til 3p. This was our second time here. Will not be coming back here again. Too many other food establishments with great service and food available in Jacksonville, especially in the riverside/avondale/san marco areas.
Enjoyed the food. We had a great waiter. Service was good. But i didnt like they didnt even acknowledge we were there for a birthday.
We went for lunch on a Saturday and had a fabulous experience. There were 4 of us in our group and we all ordered something different. Everyone was very pleased with what they ordered. The tomato bisque was a hit with everyone!
Our sever, Terry was excellent! We are looking forward to coming back to have cocktails on the rooftop and dinner. Loved it!
Food and restaurant were great! Server was a little over-energetic. Overall, great meal and we’ll return.
