Excellent food the Asiago crusted salmon is amazing, and best lobster bisque I’ve ever had.
The food was inedible, I had roasted chicken and it was uncooked. I sent it back, the manager came out to apologize and 45 min later another chicken came out that was essentially not much better. I had 2 children with me so didn’t want to wait longer! At issue is they charged me even though the food was UNCOOKED!
Nice view but can’t tell enough people not to go there unless they just want drinks and views
Great food. Great service. Awesome view.
Food was delicious however one main pasta dish that had chicken in it had very little we had to order more. That was a tad disappointing. Other than that I can't wait to see it in the Summer months!
Our waitress was great. The food was mediocre. We had lobster bisque, bruschetta, and salads (nothing crazy). I enjoyed my kale salad the most.
Chelsea was very attentive and friendly, food was good. Drinks were also good.
Our waiter Mike was friendly courteous and professional. We appreciated his attentiveness. We all enjoyed our food which was served warm and attractively. We love the ambiance at River and it was a quiet atmosphere to catch up with our friends. Thanks for s lovely evening!
Great variation of food choices as well as price range. We look forward to warmer weather and dining on the deck overlooking the River.
Our service was great, Lindsey and Tom we’re very attentive to our needs. We like the bar area and bar seating. Food is good and has options for everyone. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, keto/low carb, etc.
We had a great table with a view of the river. The signature drinks, appetizers, salads and entrees were all amazing. Just sad we didn’t have room for dessert. Looking forward to our next visit.
The service was good i had to send my steak back the first time it was over cooked and the second time it was under cooked. one of the friends i was with had the swordfish and he had to send it back. they took both meals off the bill but i was not happy with having to site there and wait for the others to finish there meals...
Love the place
Food was great. Service good. The kitchen was slow, but no complaint on the quality.
We were there for lunch and I had a salad with the added chicken—the salad was good but the portion of chicken was very small. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. Nice view of the river.
It was a quiet evening on my first visit to River, allowing my friend and me to enjoy a window table overlooking the deck and river, enhanced by the uplighting on the trees. Our waiter, while in training, was excellent: very attentive, polite and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with a trio of bruschetta, which were more like crostini, thin ovals of bread laden with delicious toppings. My friend enjoyed her asiago-crusted salmon, and my chicken saltimbocca was very tasty as well. For dessert we shared chai gelato, just the right finish to the meal. The menu seems to have something for everyone.
I'm anxious to return when the weather improves and we can enjoy the deck.
The service was on the slow side but the food tastes good and wasn't too pricey. Great views of the Connecticut river. I will be back again.
We were very disappointed with our dinner. Our service was fantastic and the atmosphere was relaxing and warm, but our meals were not good. Five of us ordered steak, ordering them medium or medium rare. When the steaks came out, they were all, cooked on the well side. Our waitress was very apologetic and was very nice to compensate us with a free round of drinks. We were thenkful and appreciative of that, but were disappointed to a pay such high prices for a disappointing meal.
The food and service at The River is exceptionally good. Staff is very accommodating and works hard to adjust dishes to meet dietary restrictions. The food itself is some of the best around!! Please note that we used two different GPS systems to find the restaurant - one for arrival and another at departure. Both GPS systems took us way out of our way so the location in our eyes is very difficult to find.
I had a wonderful seafood linguine with large amount of seafood (large scallops, shrimp, clams, calmari), maybe as good as I have had anywhere. My wife had lobster ravioli and raved about it.
Our waitress (Chelsea) was very attentive and pleasant. Food was great, and with a great view of the CT river.
Love this restaurant. Good food. Good view. Good price.
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
Love the food and atmosphere! Even in the winter beginning on the river is tranquil, great location
A hidden jewel
The food was outstanding and our server Chelsie G was not only attentive but knowledgeable and made for a great dining experience. Eventhough the prices are a bit higher than the average restaurants it was well worth it for a special dinner and we will be back
It was a Sunday evening so semi quiet, but still very nice. My meal was delicious and our server very attentive and accommodating. My only hesitancy is I feel the prices are a little steep, especially for the pasta dishes.
I’m looking forward though to warm weather when I can sit outside and enjoy the wonderful view.
A very eclectic menu with a down to earth vibe
Great food, ambiance, and entertainment. We even met the owner and her two children. Great place, very welcoming.
Knew they would have a small menu for Valentine’s Day but it wasn’t online to look at prior. Sat down and saw the menu, nothing looked appealing. Didn’t want to be rude and leave so we ordered. My husband ordered the hen which was basically fancy wings with carrots and potatoes(not worth $29 as he was still hungry when we left). I ordered the swordfish, the fish was good but it came with a side of French fries that were plated under the fish(soggy and gross).
I understand having a preset menu but have it not online so people can decide prior to sitting down if they would like it.
My wife and I went for a belated Valentine's Day dinner and it was great. The lobster ravioli, porterhouse, and chocolate raspberry cheesecake were top notch. We definitely need to back when its warmer and eat out on the deck overlooking the river. And the live jazz piano and vocals were the perfect ambience for a special dinner.
Loved the food! Waiter may have been new so it was a little weird but very nice. Atmosphere was really nice. I didn’t care for the high top tables being so close but would love to go back for the patio and bar
Worst treatment I have ever received at a restaurant in my life. Period.
I don’t usually like going out in Valentines Day but this was a nice surprise... we never felt rushed (even though there was a 2 hour limit on the table). It was a limited menu but everything we had was fabulous and our server was wonderful and so was the piano player. Nice touches for Valentine’s like a long stem white rose and truffles! Great experience.
The food was excellent. The service, not so good. We ordered mussels to share with our cocktails. They arrived and so did the salad, our second course. The waiter took away the muscle shell but did not bring us clean plates to eat our salad on (we were also sharing). We also had to ask for a serving pice for the salad. Finally the waiters reached across the table rather than serving and removing plates for the side. The music was way too loud and unrecognizable - basically noise with a lot of drums. The food was really great and ample, however they need to work on training the wait staff and lower the music, please. Prices are not exorbitant but for the price, the service and ambience needs improving.
Although I made a reservation for a bar table, one wasn’t available. Luckily we found 4 seats together at the bar but the hostess never came to get us when a table became available (even though I asked). The food was tasty, and one bar tender was nice. But one was rather rude. At least one drink and one food item were never delivered. Usually when you sit at a bar, service is much better. Disappointed this time.
Very respectful and concerned about food allergies. Made my visit very comforting. Great experience!
Wonderful place! Food & service was fantastic! Thanks Eric 👍🏼
Sunday Brunch : Awesome experience! Fabulous food options. Healthy to decadent. Great service. Enjoyed food experience with views of CT River and piano in background.
Great location, food was just average for the price, and service was below average. Place was noisy and hard to have a conversation. Might visit again but only for bar drinks.
We discovered the River in late summer 2018 and have been there several time since. The food is always consistent and outstanding. The staff is always attentive and friendly. This is a great place for any occasion!
