As usual, Riva's excels. We return again and again because of the great food, service and views. Yes, the occasional gaggle of loud ladies who are having fun at the next table can get a little raucous, but it's easy to move. But overall, we love it!

Anticipated greatness, but disappointed. Bland seafood - even the gumbo needed seasoning. Best thing may have been the oysters (fresh and briny) and the Brussel sprouts side-order. Nice view of the lake from our table. 20% discount for a preshow dinner (Shakespeare Theatre at Navy Pier) was a pleasant surprise. Probably would not go back, but they had a packed house.

Since the weather was not great, we probably did not need a reservation, but it was not to be on the safe side. The restaurant is gorgeous!!! Our wait staff was attentive and fun. The prices are reasonably priced for the ambiance and experience. Nice spacing between tables!!! Would go there again and would recommend it to family, friends, and out-of -towners is a MUST. The food was excellent and plated nicely. Wine was also priced right for the atmosphere.

Lovely setting. The wait staff are excellent: friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Given that they specialize in fish, I was a little disappointed . I had the sea bass -- found it dry and not very flavorful -- as if it was cooked without a lot of attention. It's still a worthwhile destination. But I think they need to "up their game," perhaps do some retraining of the kitchen staff, etc.

We had a lovely dinner at Riva. The view was wonderful, our server was attentive, and he had great suggestions about entrees. A gentleman 3 tables over started to have a heart attack and they very discreetly got emergency medical help and formed a wall of officers to help give them some privacy. If we hadn’t been able to see it, though, we would not have known it was happening. It was all done very quietly and courteously. They even took him out in a wheeled chair with him on oxygen and the whole thing was barely above a murmur. Great handling by the staff and everyone involved.

I service was rather slow. After sitting at a table for 15 minutes with only water, we had to track down a server. When she appeared there was no apology for a delay. We noticed other tables were getting more prompt service from their waitstaff. Food, atmosphere and view was tremendous.

This was my first time at Riva on Navy Pier, and my friend and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. The food and service were outstanding, and we would certainly come again on our next trip to the Shakespeare Theatre. The menu items were a bit pricey, but the twenty percent discount afforded to theater goers was a big plus. Great choice of entrees and sides.

We have been to Riva many times; for New Year's Eve, special occasions, but mostly for before or after Shakespeare Theater meals. We've rarely been disappointed by anything here--service, food, atmosphere. The lobster roll we had here for the first time this week was THE BEST we have ever had, and that includes recommended spots in the Atlantic northeast! We also had a skirt steak which did not meet expectations: we ordered it prepared medium-rare; it came in two pieces, one part was grilled to that temperature, but the other arrived medium to medium-well. Kudos for the truffle oil and herb fries--yum, yum, yum! The key lime pie is a good choice, with a well-flavored thin crust.

Disappointed with meal. Menu said halibut with lobster and rice. Turned out to be slice of lobster mixed into rice. Good thing because it tasted horrible! The halibut was great, service and ambiance, as well.

Four woman for a special occasion and reunion. We were early for our reservation..about 15 minutes prior to opening. We took the train in and then Uber so I was surprised we were able to able to get over there so quickly. We also had a River cruise at 1:30. The hostess was not really on duty yet but she seated us to be comfortable and was very sweet. She was excited for us about our day. The waiter came over and although we were early he brought water and took drink orders. Again very cheerful. When the restaurant opened we knew what we wanted and ordered. The whole meal was very enjoyable because of the staffs pleasant attitudes..no one was put out or rushed. Instead of waiting in the lobby we were seated by a window where we could relax and enjoy the view and each other’s company. The food was excellent also.
Kudos to an excellent staff!!!

Riva is the perfect place to go for dinner before the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Or...go on a Wednesday or Saturday later at night and watch the fireworks! Magical! The seafood is fresh and delicious.

We have lunched at Rivas regularly before our Shakespeare matinee and typically love the seafood salad. This week the salad had a very skimpy portion of seafood, not at all what one would expect of a $20 salad. Soooo very disappointing.

The crab cake appetizer didn't taste like real crab.
There were many servers who hovered, and moved around the tables too fast. Does not make for the most pleasant experience.

ハーバービューのロケーションです。焼きロブスターは日本人好みの味付けでとても美味しかったです。生牡蠣は開け方が雑で破片がどのピースにも 入っていました。そのため四つ星にしました。

An amazing dining experience after seeing "Six" at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. The Chilean Sea Bass was unbelievably prepared - firm, moist and melt-in-your-mouth wonderful! The bar tenders were friendly and mixed up some signature drinks that were very tasty. The fried calamari appetizer was very good and well-seasoned. We will definitely be back for another dinner in the near future!

Very mediocre lunch. Drinks were not very good and the Crab sandwich was more bread than crab. The shrimp steam pot came out with the husks still on the shrimp. For the price you'd think they could completely clean the shrimp so the husks and legs were removed. Also, the shrimp were a good size but they were in a goopy, unappetizing butter sauce. Best part of the meal was the view.
