Low key Cajun influenced carnivore haven, but plenty of choices for non meat eaters. Russell was a terrific waiter.
I booked my reservation for my bday brunch using OpenTable without any issues. Complementary valet was a nice touch. Traffic put me about 10 mins late, but the super nice hostesses sat us without issue. They also handed me a birthday card signed by the whole crew, which was really sweet! We were sat near what I can only assume was the meat locker. I don't have an issue with the sight of meat, but I wouldn't suggest this table for the squeamish (think whole pigs hanging from hooks, staring at you). We ordered the watermelon mimosa (good but not great) and the biscuits to start. Biscuits were legit - huge, warm, soft with house made berry jam. My friend got the crab cake eggs benedict, which she loved. I got the chicken and waffles, and it was just ok. I believe the menu states that the waffle is a cornbread waffle, so I was excepting a thick almost cake-like waffle tasting of cornbread. Instead I got a very thin waffle that looked like it was deep fried, it was SO greasy. I took a few bites hoping that looks were deceiving, but the waffle just wasn't good. I ended up just eating the chicken (which was rubbed with cayenne and other seasonings) dipped in the maple syrup that came with the meal. Our waiter was GREAT - polite, knowledgeable, only slightly inattentive at times (we wanted to order dessert but he didn't come back to our table for quite a while. I won't hold this against him though because I know some people wish for waiters to be less overbearing so they can enjoy their meal in peace. I noticed that the brunch extravaganza (a huge assortment of breakfast foods and an entire bottle of champagne - shareable, do it!) came with a sparkler and immediately begged the waiter to bring my meal out with one - it was my bday after all. He obliged! It definitely made my meal more special! We ended with the mixed berry cobbler - neither of us loved it, we would try another dessert next time. All in all, I enjoyed my birthday brunch and I would return!!
Great food, ambiance and service.
The restaurant itself was beautiful. They paid very close attention when designing the space, and I really enjoyed being in that setting. Unfortunately, both my dish and my friend's dish were disappointing. I had such high hopes from the great reviews online. I will say that their biscuits and their watermelon/pineapple/ginger mimosas were delicious, and the service was great.
I absolutely LOVE this place. The food is very creative, atmosphere is inviting and customer service is just awesome. Saul, the manager is just a great person who is there to take care of your needs and to answer any questions you may have...You will NOT be dissipated!
I had the butcher’s special filet...awesome dish with the Pork Belly Wedge (huge!)
The chefs were on point. The salad is how a salad should taste. The Turf & Surf made me take my time and savor every bite. The schnitzel was so unique.
The wait staff was also very attentive and accommodating. It was a great date experience.
Went for Brunch. Food was great and would definitely go back again.
This restaurant is a solid "eh". Typical farm-to-table dining, nothing to write home about. Wasn't bad, but wasn't awesome, either.
This was a truly great meal. We went with out of town guests, ordered appetizers, entrees, and dessert, and every course was outstanding. Our server was attentive, never made us feel rushed, was knowledgeable and efficient. The Texas Picnic Board is their version of a charcuterie plate and is exceptional. We will definitely be back. Noise level is high but manageable.
Everything was delicious. Service was five star as well.
Pierre is the best barkeep in Houston.
Awesome place! We were extremely impressed with the service. Sourdough hush puppies are a must. Seafood gravy is such a good starter. Everything is just fantastic. Definitely coming back!
Great food!! If you sit on the patio - it can be very loud with the street noise. Otherwise it is lovely!!
“Greenhouse” room was hot and had no shade from the glaring sun.
As always we had an amazing time. The drinks are consistently always good, the food is always hot and fresh, and the service is impeccable! We love going here and definitely recommend it to everyone :)
Excellent. Never disappoints.
Got sick after eating...
Gumbo was very salty but cornbread waffles that came with them were creative and good. Pork chops were severely undercooked had to be sent in to be cooked again; they brought a new pork chop about 10-15 minutes later that was cooked perfectly. Hen was good and lamb chops were excellent. Waitress recommended ceviche like appetizer was delicious. Will come back again since extensive menu
One of our favorite spots in the Heights. Excellent food & drinks!!
Burger was ok. A little dry. Gumbo was excellent. Service great. Second visit and will be back to try more things.
Food was excellent, except that my entree was not cooked properly the first time it was brought out.
Great imaginative menu. Servings may be a bit too much. Shall be back again soon
I enjoyed lunch with a guest recently. The menu is creative (without being extreme) and has something for everyone. The chef and staff executed each dish with precision and an eye on the details. I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich with "debris." The meat was generous, hot and not too spicy; it was set off by the slightly sweet pickles and crunchy cabbage. Then french fries were hot, crunchy and wonderfully soft on the inside. I enjoyed every bite. The entire staff was very helpful and graciously accommodated my disabled guest. I'll be back with friends for lunch and dinner.
Very good food at a reasonable price for Sunday Brunch. Lots of choices on brunch menu with the four of us each ordering something different. Will return soon.
Sunday 03/18 was our second time there for brunch and food was amazing. Exactly what we were looking for.
The week before that 03/11 we made it when brunch was over and host did not show us a table, just some menus at the door.
Great food and atmosphere for any occasion. Nice beer and wine selection and great ambiance.
The lamb was INCREDIBLE.
Been here multiple times. Service was not good. Had to continually ask for ice tea refill. Gave cc to pay bill, then realized he charged me for the refills after it was run. What restaurant charges for ice tea refills? That was on top of other, less than acceptable service issues.. Expect this at Chili's, not Ritual!
My new favorite restaurant in Houston! Can’t believe it’s been here two years and I’m just now finding out about it. The best steaks I’ve ever had! The 30-dry aged bone-in Ribeye is the best steak I’ve ever had and that is on par with the 45-day dry aged bone-In Tomahawk!! Great selection on bourbons/ Whiskeys and an incredible menu to compliment the steaks. You have to try the Brussels sprouts! The bartender Pierre knows his stuff (as do the waitstaff) and is really pleasant to interact with.
Attentive wait staff, good food, great cocktails. Had the appetizer special seafood guacamole which was even better than imagined. Entrees were the gumbo dish which is enormous and steak and asparagus. All very good
Great place to catch up and with great friends and great food!
The good: the look of the place is nice. All of the service I received was timely and friendly. I had a nice Old Fashioned for only $8.
The not as good: brunch was not so great. Had the chicken and waffle (with too many pickles provided on the side). The chicken has a terrible spice rub on it and was gooey on the outside. The waffle was dry with little flavor and was barely warm.
Conclusion: Go only if you treat this place like a bar that serves some food. Eat dinner and brunch somewhere else. This food here tastes like the restaurants in New England that attempt Southern cuisine.
Ritual was recommended to us by a friend when we were looking for a casual dining experience with creative comfort food for our anniversary celebration. Our waiter was fabulous, very attentive with lots of personality, but not overwhelming nor hovering. We were able to enjoy our delicious meals without feeling rushed even though it was a busy Saturday evening. The atmosphere was lovely, and unlike most Houston restaurants, there was plenty of space between each table, reducing the noise level so that we were able to carry on a conversation easily and in relaxed fashion. We won’t wait for another special occasion to bring us back. Highly recommend this gem!
Went there for our anniversary and my wife’s birthday, we couldn’t be any more happier of our choice to go to Ritual. Food was excellent, service was excellent, although their windows need some sort of blinds or tints due to the sun beaming down on you at different areas of the restaurant, could definitely get annoying being blinded.
Made a reservation for 2 for Saturday brunch. We were seated in a glass patio section in the sun which was approximately 90 degrees. Service was fine but the food did not taste very good. I had the Breakfast Club which looked better than my friend’s Revival Benedict. Overall would not recommend.
Outstanding dinner and perfect place to celebrate a twenty-something birthday. It has a great scene, great service, and great food. The ribeye steak, scalloped potatoes, and broccoli rice were outstanding, and the asparagus and mac & cheese were to-die-for. The gumbo was simply amazing. The crowd was vibrant, but it wasn't too loud to converse easily. They even had a handmade birthday card waiting for the guest of honor. Perfect-o!
I loved the hush puppies!!
Second time here. Didn’t love the location of our table but service was mostly solid and food was quite good. Waiter gave us the dessert menu, left, and returned with the check never asking us what we wanted. Odd but ok.
