The menu is good, I got the gumbo which a really big portion for two, and it was great. The service is really good and the drinks too.
The place is very cool looking. Food was very good. Interesting flavors. My pork chop was (sadly) a little grisly. Otherwise food would get a 5.
Our server Jack was AMAZING!! We went for Sat. brunch and all of the items we ordered were tasted. I ordered the buttermilk biscuits with jam, and chicken and grits after Jack's recommendation. He REALLY knows how to describe and sell a dish! My husband ordered ordered the Texas S.O.S breakfast!!!!! OMG!!!! LIFE CHANGING! I was not disappointed! They also have really great coffee! Other than the crying, whining toddler near by, we had an excellent experience! From the friendly hostesses, to the server and outstanding food, everything was great! I cannot say enough great things about this place! I highly recommend this place to other fellow foodies.
Very trendy and quite loud. The food was mediocre and service was adequate. Young and noisy crowd
Everything was okay.. but the whole flayed pig hanging by the hooves was a bit much even to a self proclaimed carnivore who loves pork. Rather not see it on display (looking back at us) like that while eating.
Great food and music. Some mixups was our orders but it was resolved quickly and efficiently
First time here. Me and my friend enjoyed it 100%. Its beautiful and the staff is friendly. Food was amazing.
I went to Ritual for Sunday Brunch. The menu had so many delicious options it was hard to choose! I ended up with the chicken and waffles and it was awesome! I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a good brunch option.
First time at Ritual, everything we had was great! Service was mediocre, seemed like server didn't want to be there. My friend asked if they had freshly squeezed oj, server brought out slices of oranges and asked if that was good enough 🤔 Other than that, food was delicious!
Food was good, but the steak was mainly fat, so the waiter brought out another one.
We had brunch, made a reservation and showed up 20 minutes early. We were immediately seated, but it took FOREVER to get one Mimosa carafe and a bloody mary, 20 minutes long. The manager did come and apologize for the delay as the bar was behind. (I would think there would be a lot more bartenders at a hotspot and at a busy time) Food was amazing, we truly had a hard time deciding what to eat. We started with Sourdough Hushpuppies, they were so great. I had the red bean and rice, it was over the top delish. Some of the beans weren't cooked long enough, but the flavor made me forgive it. My husband had the gumbo and pig mac, he couldn't decide which he was going to eat and what was going home with us. We loved the rich flavors behind the gumbo and I am pretty sure he is going to try to make gumbo with pulled pork at home. The cornbread waffles were good, I love buttermilk cornbread so these weren't to my liking, but my husband loved them. All in all a good visit with one little hiccup, we would go back. MAKE A RESERVATION!
Brunch was delicious! Hard to decide what to order because everything sounded great.
Table was in glass area away from main dining. Felt a little isolated. Would have been good if the garage door was open. Wait staff seemed to have a little trouble remembering we were there. But, food was excellent and overall experience very good. Would not hesitate to return.
Good food but two errors from the kitchen
I would try again
Outstanding food and fantastic service. Loved the creative menu and the overall quality of the food. We drove 35 miles to eat brunch at Ritual and will do it again!
Great food. Nice casual atmosphere. Recommend for lunch or friendly dinner. Reservations recommended.
We dined at 830 on a Sunday night so the restaurant waant busy. We had raw oysters to start then I had the Green Plate topped with shrimp. (Local veg over shallot rissoto). My husband had the short rib. Everything was delicious! Our only dissapointment was that they were out of Garrison Bros. Whiskey. NBD. We live in the Woodlanda so we probably wont make ot back anytime soon but will definitely recommend this place. I wish there were more restaurants like this near us. P.S. Check out the sink in the bathroom! Oh, one more thing, they have a butcher window with a dead pig head hanging! I had to face the opposite direction, not at all appetizing.
Great food!! Our second time to come for our anniversary!!
Came early so had appetizers before 5. Ordered dinner at 5.
Hush puppies were very tasty with creamy inside. Pork sandwich was ample and mysteriously delicious.
The not so good
Food was not as good as the first time. Green’s were mushy too tart. Chicken was tender, but crust was hard and appeared unappetizing. Restaurant was out of preferred beer. Had chicken “pops”; these were very over cooked. Several items appeared to be leftovers.
Might come back. Get the pork or beef. Go elsewhere for chicken.
We really enjoyed Ritual overall. The view of the butcher room is a fun twist, and the pork belly small plate and lamb burger were great. The only things we ordered that weren’t a slam dunk were the wine and our dessert, but both were still fine. We’d definitely go back next time we’re in the area.
Ovwrall it was good. Sat at bar & some difficulty getting service. Salad was my fav part other than the wine.
Really enjoyed our server - he took great care of us with the special and my wife’s dessert for her birthday and for getting our check ready to leave for the theater downtown.
Place was amazing! The old fashioned was a powerful drink and the pork is on point
The Down South burger was outstanding, and the Cobb salad was enormous.
OMG. Cannot say enough goods things about our dinner. My husband literally was moaning in ecstasy over the stuffed trout!!! We started with fried okra (me) and the pork belly (him) small plates. You could easily make a meal out of the small plates. I tried the OMGBLT sandwich - fresh pork belly bacon BLT - with some of the best french fries I've ever tasted. Sandwich has a tobasco aoli served on the side that I dipped the fries in and the ketchup was clearly not out of a plastic squeeze bottle! My husband had the stuffed trout -- stuffed with peppers, onions, bacon -- and topped with hard-boiled egg (what is it with egg on top of everything these days anyway???) that was unnecessary. Served with home fried potatoes that were delicious. We shared the pecan pie. Another round of groaning in ecstasy; this time a duo. We had the Whistle Pig bourbon so can't comment on the wine or beer but I would be surprised to find Ritual didn't address this aspect as well as the menu. Busy on a Saturday night and LOUD from the music. We moved from the back of the restaurant by the meat room to the front so we could hear ourselves talk. Servers were helpful and pleasant to talk with. We will be back!!!
Had a great time at Ritual! The food was great and reasonable priced and the service was superb. I highly recommend.
Great date spot. Short pour on a martini though... well executed food and friendly staff.
Went for the Ritual burger based on internet reviews. Good burger, but the brisket overpowers all the other tastes. Ended up eating brisket alone followed by the rest of the burger. Both great on their own. Sourdough hush puppies were very forgettable. Boudin corn dogs were good, but not made with really good boudin. These were more of a dirty rice corn dog. Beer selection more than adequate with too many selections for a single visit. Choosing is tough. Service was great with a very attentive waiter willing to go the extra mile to explain everything on the menu. If I was a Houston resident I’d give it a second try.
We had some time to kill and we were hungry even though it was only 6pm on a Wednesday, so we decided to try Ritual, which looks like a trendy spot in a great location in the Heights. The small plates were nicely presented and very tasty, especially the boudin stuffed shrimp with crabmeat. We shared the short rib entree, and it was delicious and quite a generous portion. Our waiter was the perfect balance between friendly and professional. We will definitely return soon to try other dishes, cocktails, and desserts.
Both my husband and I loved our dishes. He ordered the trout and I ordered the Angry Bird. Service could have been better. Our waiter was very slow with refilling our drinks and with the bill. It seemed liked he disappeared at the end of our meal and rarely checked on us. We had to ask another waiter for more tea.
Good food, although when busy the kitchen slows down. Also very loud, hard to hear normal conversation, even when taking loudly. Not a dress up place, lots of people in shorts at dinner time, good/bad is up to you.
Place is always A+! Always look forward to my dining experience at Ritual.
We had steaks and they were very good. We also enjoyed the scalloped potatoes and asparagus. We did not care for the Brussels sprouts, because they had too much vinegar. Nice evening at a convenient local restaurant
Our first time to Ritual and we enjoyed it a lot! The food was tasty and served quickly - drinks were fab! We will return!
Horrible service and food. Our waiter was unattentive, likely speaking less than 10 words to us. My crab crake was littered with shells, and it took over 30 minutes for our food to come out. I honestly don’t see how they stay in business. We won’t be back.
The music was really, really loud for a casual dining restaurant. We could barely hears each other unless we talked super loud. The place is great looking, food was delicious and reasonably priced and the wait staff were excellent. The kitchen was extremely slow but granted they were slammed. They did comp our 30 minute delayed appetizer though. I will be back but probably not at peak hours or if I want to hear the friends I’m with.
Went for brunch and it was SO delicious. Great ambiance ! Very nice hostess and server. Interesting food. Love it all.
Wonderful food and service
The food was just “eh”. Anything fried came out soggy and the $48 ribeye was nothing spectacular. Their use of bitters in their cocktails is over the top and even though it was a featured pairing for three items on the dessert menu, they were out of port. The server knew nothing about the menu and had to constantly ask other servers for answers and he was not attentive to the table at all.
Great service, great entree recommendations, great drinks, lively atmosphere
