From 3 until 5 p.m. every day, Ritual has a limited dining menu available. Please join us for Happy Hour 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday for incredible drink specials on beer, wine & cocktails!
This is my third time visiting Ritual. It took about 7-8 minutes for my waiter to greet me and take my drink order. When I did receive my cocktail it was not the one I had ordered, so I had to wait a while longer to receive the correct drink. When I received my food ( I ordered the butchers breakfast) it was missing the toast it came with and we had no steak knives for our steaks. He never came to ask how our food was or if we needed anything so it took at least 15 minutes of me craning my neck around trying to find him and get his attention. When we finally received out knives and my toast he sat the knives down on the table and walked away without saying anything. My dining companion was not asked how she wanted her steak prepared so it was under when she received it and it seriously took another 10-12 minutes to get his attention for the steak to be re-fired. At one point, my companion raised her hand up like she was at school and we still could not get his or anyones attention. Our waters weren't refilled until our plates had been cleared, which also took a long time. I had actually already received the check when my plate was finally cleared from the table. I ordered another cocktail and I was practically finished with my food when I finally got it. The food is good as always but it would be nice to have a waiter who actually waited on me. The service was TERRIBLE.
Overall, I had to rate our first visit as average. The food was amazing! The service however was lacking. We waited 45 minutes to receive our appetizer and over an hour for our main dishes. We watched as every table around us received stellar service by another waiter. It seemed like we were the only table in the section with our waiter. The other tables around us received their drinks and food quickly even though they were seated and ordered after we did. I'm hoping this was just a glitch with how tables were assigned for the evening. The food was amazing and made up for the lack of service.
Ritual was [fire emoji].
The food was excellent. Next time, I'll have to try the dried meats.
Eat here, now.
Oysters were off. They removed them from our bill. Was my birthday and I mentioned that when I made reservations but no acknowledgement
The menu selection was exceptional and the specials were unique. Would like to go back to have more options.
Steak, cauliflower casserole, and brussel sprouts are amazing!! If you order the lamb burger, give temperature preference.
Had a wonderful Sunday brunch, seated in the bar area. Food was delicious, service attentive, will definitely return!
The food was great, prepared perfectly, portions were right sized, meats were tender and delicious! Service was excellent! Douglas was friendly, very knowledgeable, helpful, checked on us frequently, and provided wonderful suggestions. We had a great dining experience! Already recommended Ritual to several friends and can’t wait to return!
Awesome as always, we’re regulars here and usually come in on mondays for a weekly experience.
The restaurant itself has a great feel; however our entire meal was cold - from the french fries to the "special" cinnamon roll to every entree on the table. It tasted good but was cold and was not supposed to BE cold, bizarre.
Food was only luke warm. Seems like sitting out under heater lamp and not right out of stove top
We waited for over an hour after ordering. Our waiter never came to our table until I finally flagged him. He told he would check with the kitchen. When he finally returned he told us that our
order had somehow fell and was lost. 1/2 an hour later we were finally served. A mediocre waiter would have either checked with us or noticed that there was no food on our table. Very impressed with himself, very poor server.
The food was delicious. I got the short ribs. Honestly, because there was no bone, I wasn't sure I got short ribs or part of a roast. My husband got a great steak. He also drank a Manhattan that he said was the best he has ever had in Houston. I had a delicious Cosmopolitan but was a little surprised I was upcharged $1 when the waiter asked if I wanted Titos or something else. I said Titos was fine. I assumed it was the house vodka. I've never been charged extra for Titos anywhere else. I also have no idea why I was charged an environmental fee of $1. What in the world did I pay for - to clean the table, to wash the dishes?
I took the Chocolate sheet cake dessert home for later. It was okay. Not overly sweet, but not enough sweet icing. I wouldn't order it again.
My friend and shared a fried checjen
Took a friend out for her birthday and we loved Ritual! The food was outstanding. All of the dishes looked great and were very flavorful. The brussel sprouts side was especially awesome as was the Pecan pie for dessert. The service was excellent and the ambiance fun. Highly recommend.
Went for the Ritual Burger, which was awesome. It was about 5:30p on Sunday and even though we made OT reservations, we had the place just about to ourselves. We'll be back to try other items.
Over-hyped and over-priced. Table of two and we were sat several minutes after our reservation after being told if we didn't take a bad table we would wait an additional 15 minutes. After sitting at the table for 15 minutes, we finally received any sort of service which just included getting water from someone who wasn't even our waiter. Food was nothing special and over-priced. More than likely will not be returning based on this experience.
My husband and I both had the chicken and waffles, which we loved. A little hot with the cayenne rub, but the cornmeal waffle with syrup offset it. The sourdough hush puppies to start were delish! Great ambiance, service and food. Will definitely go back.
We were in town for the marathon and had high hopes for Ritual based on reviews. Members of our party of four had ran the race and were famished. Unfortunately Ritual didn’t meet expectations. The food was good, but not great. The service was average and often had lengthy lapses of inattentiveness. Maybe we caught them on an off night. However, For an 85 dollar, bone in, dry aged ribeye, I want something to at least compete with the high end steak joints. Ritual’s meat didn’t have much flavor; was tender but not more so than a middling steak establishment; and otherwise unremarkable. Ritual would be a fine everyday restaurant but its beef is certainly priced in the special occasion category. The sides (potatoes and Brussels sprouts) were more flavorful, but not exceptional. I’d like to rate it higher because it feels like a place with great potential, but frankly 3.5 stars is more than generous.
Loved the food menu, however; getting our food was slow and one person's food was not brought out and we had to ask for it so we could start eating. Then, food items got cold which was too bad because the presentation on the plates was beautiful.
Friendly wait staff in this trendy brunch place. Portions are large and food is tasty. Overall menu heavy in American classics. Careful, they don't have an espresso machine!
I was looking for excellent duck and I found it at Ritual. Everything that I had was delicious. The location is about as good as it gets.
We dine at Ritual most often for brunch, law firm happy hour, and the occasional dinner res with out of towners. We like the build out and the food is good quality. The last 3 times the service has been less than stellar. Even the hostess was slow and unconcerned with seating us for our reservation this visit. 3rd time, you’re out.
We had a reservation but the wanted to sit us in the cold outside part. This made me unhappy. We also arrived early to give them extra time and still they wanted to seat us outside. We ended up right by the kitchen door which real was not ideal. It was noisy and the language used in back of the house should never be exposed to customers.
So delicious, every time! We love the pork belly appetizer and the chicken friend steak but the whole menu is divine. Charcuterie board never disappoints, the duck entree is lovely as well. 10/10 recommend!
Great restaurant with some unique options and combinations. Great drinks and good service. This is my third time and it continues to be a favorite.
Excellent food and service! Crab Benedict was just the best. Will be back!
The food was incredible. Being vegetarian is hard to find filling meals. I got the garden plate and it was delicious. A mix of all kinds of yummy roasted vegetables with different flavors and textures over a bed of creamy risotto. I took at least half home with me it was so filling. And GET THE APPLE PIE. Melt in your mouth delectable.
The food and service were amazing. However, we sat on the patio which was very loud and noisy as you could hear cars passing by continuously.
Can’t say enough about entrees and service!! So impressed!
Only struggle was how loud it was! Made conversation difficult but food was well worth it!
Took my sister here for brunch. Waitstaff was amazing!
We liked the mimosa options. Free valle parking. Unique place.
Wife is gluten and dairy free. Waiter was knowledgeable about options she could have. She had the lamb and Brussel sprouts and liked them.
The Pork Chop was great.
Excellent food and service, will definitely be back
Everything was wonderful, food, service, atmosphere!!!! All of it.
Ritual was absolutely incredible. We started with the hush puppies with jalapeno jelly. They were crispy and the jelly was sweet and spicy. Next we got the breakfast mac and the ritual benedict. The breakfast mac was one of the most incredible meals we have ever had. It was creamy, full of flavor, and cooked to perfection. The ritual benedict was hands down the best eggs benedict we have ever tasted. It is served on top of two fluffy biscuits and the hollandaise sauce was flavorful and creamy. If you have not been to Ritual, make your way there. We are looking forward to return next Sunday for brunch again!
Cool dinner place in the Heights! We went for NYE dinner and the place was crowded as to be expected. The service was great although the kitchen and bar were backed up so drinks and food took a while to come out. We got the hushpuppies for an appetizer and they were just okay. The hush puppy itself didn't have much flavor, honestly I don't think there was any salt in in it, but the sauce was good. We got margs on the rocks to drink and these were not good at all. I think it was just tequila and lime juice, no agave or sweetener. Margs are not on the cocktail menu, however, so this may have partially been our fault. My husband and I split the meatloaf and a side of mac and cheese and let me just say, the mac and cheese is perfect. The mac is creamy, not greasy and stringy, and the pasta they use is perfect for collecting all that creamy goodness. The meatloaf was good, but the mash that came with it was just all right. All in all, the mac and cheese made the meal and I'll be back just for that! They also have a great brunch with reasonable prices and good brunch cocktails!
I’ve been to Ritual for two different occasions - a business happy hour and then a dinner date. Ritual has a great ambience and the service and food both times was outstanding. Great small plate choices (recommend the boudin stuffed jumbo shrimp) and the Big Bird Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
Amazing, cozy atmosphere; great beer selection; high quality food. The smoked short rib was incredible.
This restaurant is expensive relative to its competition. The steaks were done nice and the meat quality was there but it still left you with a nothing special feeling for the high price. The sides were generous but again just so so. It appears to be super trendy with a high end young feeling. They seemed to struggle with what was on the cocktail menu as far as selection. Our companion had to make 3 different selection from the menu before the liquor he wanted was available. Too many choices in the heights to settle.
Food and service seem to have gone downhill since my last visit about a year ago. Could have just been an off night though.
