Risu

Had lunch here for the first time. My kids enjoyed the bottomless mimosas and the restaurant was kind enough to send home a bottle since it was one's birthday. We had the BBQ chicken flatbread, salmon wrap, and short rib cheese sandwich. The latter was the bomb.

Great service, better food!

Sat us right away. Water came out fast but drinks took 10-15 min. Conundrum wine tasted old--vinegary and carbonated. Food was excellent, but took almost 40 minutes for the first plate. At that point they said they were out of one item we ordered. Ordered something else and they forgot to ring it in until we were almost done with our food. They made it right by comping the item that was late. They were mostly communicative about the time. Seems like the place could use better management. Maybe it was an off night. 🤷‍♀️

Completely unstaffed. We left after waiting 15 minutes without so much as being served water.

One server for the entire restaurant. Food was bland. Such a disappointment. Definitely having troubles maybe because of the post Covid struggle for employees?

The food was fantastic!! The service was slow but they admitted that it was a really busy Monday night that they weren’t prepared for. The food made up for any wait time at all.

Lovely location, great food, very nice manager but the service is way off. We were attending show. Our food order took to long to be taken and two items were not served. Ryan, the manger, personable and nice, but no sense of respect to our time.
We have been there twice, thought the first time was a fluke, but same issue with timing occurred. I hope it can improve. The food was wonderful. I’m just disappointed we didn’t get to have all of it. We had to leave and attend the theater

RISU is the perfect spot to enjoy good food and drinks with soft live music. The waiters/waitresses are all very friendly and it has a family type atmosphere between everyone.
I will be back soon!

Risu is a hidden restaurant in downtown Long Beach. It’s on the second floor between parking garage and apartment. There is no real outside signage so you really have to pay attention. Once you do find it and make it to the second floor you find a small restaurant, mostly outdoors, in the corner of the building on the rainbow walking bridge. It truly has a lot of potential.
When we got there we initially sat outside but they had no outside heat source. Once they get that going it really could be amazing.
The food is good, although our brussel sports were a little over cooked but I like them that way. The sashimi was on point, the drinks were great and the dessert was excellent.
If they can get the outside heat going and how to get to and get into the restaurant as well as leave (you need a code, but we had to ask) they could really have something special.
I still say give it a try. I would go back.

We were actually the only ones there so they gave us free drinks. Great staff.

Poor customer service and poor food quality. Will not return or recommend.

The place wasn’t busy but they were definitely understaffed. Which is understandable given that restaurants are currently experiencing shortages of workers so getting our food took a while but it wasn’t bad. The food itself was ok. We had the chicken sandwich sliders that were decent but I’d never order them again. The actual chicken was just bland. The fries were good. We ordered the Spicy Tuna tostadas but they brought us the Pink and Spicy shrimp instead that was honestly the best thing we had so we welcomed the mistake. We had the cheesecake and chocolate butter cake for dessert. The cheesecake was interesting, not at all what I had imagined or described in the menu. It’s had to explain but it was like Creme brûlée on the side of cheesecake balls. The brûlée wasn’t crispy and there was also berries alongside the nuts it lists on the menu. The Chocolate butter cake was good. Overall it was a good experience and a good place to get some food before a show but there was nothing about the place that would have me go back a second time.

Nothing bad to say about Risu. Food, ambience, and service were all great! We ordered several sushi rolls and they were fresh and delicious. You can't beat dining by the rainbow bridge either! The live band was a nice touch on a Saturday evening. We all had a fun time and will definitely return 9 out of 10.

Was there during the Vince Neil concert, so very loud. Food and service was excellent. Hard to find the entrance too, as things were fenced off for the Grand Prix. I would return.

Honestly, we were very disappointed. The service was great and our waitress was lovely. Unfortunately, several of the menu items were not available. This included entrees, alcohol, and desserts. The “charcuterie board” was laughable with below-average meats and cheeses that were pre-selected. It was also missing the crackers and condiments described on the menu. The food that was available for order was just okay. The tomahawk steak (ordered because the restaurant was not serving the flat iron steak on the menu) was extremely fatty. The restaurant sits along the Rainbow Bridge so the ambiance is nice, but overall, our experience was poor. We won’t be returning.

What a disappointing experience or lack there of... made a dinner reservation for 6 for Friday, Sept 24th. I was thankful to get a reservation at all at any restaurant in Long Beach due to the Grand Prix being run there on this weekend. Received a confirmation from Open Table via email and then a follow up text directly from the restaurant asking that I confirm my party of 6. I confirmed the text and believed I was set and ready to go until I arrived at the restaurant only to be told the entire restaurant was closed due to a private party??? Unbelievable... I called the restaurant directly and expected at least a courtesy call back, but to date have received nothing. I can appreciate the fact that they were able to book their entire restaurant - good for them, but after all is said and done even just a phone call from this establishment would have gone a long way with me. Moving forward, due to their lack of professionalism, I wouldn't bother with this place.

Absolutely incredible. We only had small plates but each one was fantastic. Love sushi and Risü’s was amazing.

We had such a lovely time at risu! The ambience was so nice— beautiful lights and flowers plus the band was really great playing some good music. The food was incredible too! My husband can be hard to please and even he really enjoyed himself. It was the perfect place for date night! No complaints.

Understaffed. Took our reservation but couldn’t serve us. We bailed.

Great food! Tried their vegan curry ceviche & let me tell you it was a 10/10 !!! Definitely recommend that dish!

The outdoor seating was perfect for covid. It has a beautiful ambiance as well both during the day and at night with the lights on. The service was phenomenal and our waitress was incredibly kind and helpful. We celebrated two birthdays that day and I will definitely be back here again.

We had a great evening at Risu for my friend’s bachelorette!!! They spoiled us and made us feel so amazing. The food was delicious and the drinks were great too! Can’t wait to come back again!
