Outstanding. Except do not get Tiffany as your waitress, extremely neglectful and slow service with her.
Great food, old world service. Place just feels old...and so does the clientele.
Charming restaurant, on two levels, with delicious and reasonable prix fixe lunch choices. Service is always impeccable and warm, and after several visits, it is my favorite for lunch or brunch in the upper Madison Avenue area. Tables are not too close together, the greeting at reception is welcoming and after trying many dishes, I have loved every last one of them! We had a Holiday lunch for 10, and we were also well served, as are lunches for two or three.
Celebrated a friend’s 70 th birthday with 5 of us. Never rushed us...excellent service and delicious food. This location and restaurant is the perfect respite from the hectic city. How refreshing to have 2 hours of meaningful conversation in such a lovely comfortable setting!
Everything was great. The tiramisu is to die for!!
Don't like the small tables for 2 which are placed far too close to the next table; almost like community seating.
Excellent pasta. Highly recommend. Salads and dessert was very good too. Good service, about the best one can find these days. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Wonderful all around. Great wait staff and the food was incredible; pricey but you get your money’s worth. Will definitely come back!
I was with my choosey elderly uncle. Everyone was so attentive and nice whether it was bringing him an extra glass of ice for his martini or adjusting the table. He greatly enjoyed the risotto and even the simple chicken was cooked to perfection. The room is comfortable, though we could have done without the music.
I was a frequent customer of Ristorante Morini when they offered the eggplant parmesan as the vegetarian main course. It provided for an amazing meal and allowed my husband and I (not a vegetarian) to equally enjoy a meal. Now that it is off the menu, the only option is the cauliflower steak. This vegetarian entree is particularly disappointing. I do not recommend ordering this entree. The cauliflower is most often overcooked and the quinoa accompaniment is flavorless. We have asked why the eggplant parmesan was taken off the menu various times. We have been told it was too expensive, too labor intensive and that too many people ordered it. Regardless of the reason, it is a misstep. As a result, we rarely go to a restaurant that was once a staple.
Went once for dinner, and decided to do brunch.
They have traditional "nicer" brunch options (ie lobster eggs benedict), but we splurged for the $40 pre-fixe which was a great deal NY wise (appetizer, main, and dessert). You get way more bang for your buck here on a regular day vs other places during Restaurant Week!
We did the kale salad - yummy not too sweet, roasted almonds on it / lobster salad - $7 prefixe but worth it, tagliatelle/clam spaghetti - so creamy and delicious, and nocciola/tiramisu - totally decadent.
Our waiter was fantastic, explaining the dishes and his favorites/the signature dishes and the staff constantly filled our water/checked in the right amount. The crowd is more mature (it's a nicer resto), but there seem to be plenty of regulars.
You can use the upstairs space for large parties/private bookings too.
We had a good meal tonight at Morini in NYC and later this evening we received an admonition from Open Table for a no show. Don’t know why...we honored our reservation at 8pm and ate at Morini on 86th street in New York.
A good value lunch special with choices from the full menu, generous portions, and absolutely delicious.
Absolutely wonderful service - delicious food
Abbiamo mangiato la ricciola cruda come antipasto e la sera siamo stati male.. molta delusione. Da un ristorante di un certo livello
Porción de pescado un poco pequeña. Comida Muy rica
This was such a nice surprise. Beautiful space and delicious food.
Pleasant environment. Quieter than most UES restaurants.
Had the Sunday night special. Appetizers were very good but not impressed with the main course. Portions for main course were small.
This place is a gem. The food is excellent, traditional wih a creative flair, and way above the usual Italian restaurant. The prices are reasonable, the seating is comfortable and relaxed, service is terrific. Can't parise it enought, I adore the place and will be a regular customer from now on.
I made a reservation for myself only and was there solo on a Friday. No one greeted me enthusiastically and everyone was in quite a rush. I'm not picky about lighting, but it was dingy dark. And, as another reviewer noted, tablecloths are gone - as were the jazz musicians. It wouldn't be my first pick for a return visit.
Very good food. Everything is delicious. Service is fantastic
Great sommelier, wine is fantastic, food and service are wonderful. The prix fixe is a good deal and not all members of the dinner party have to participate. Upstairs dining room is elegant but comfortable.
The fritto misto is outstanding. Cooked to perfection. The pasta is the best in the city.
Most of all, I love the service.
All the best
Usually a lot quieter space but another table of diners were obnoxiously loud from the corner. Food and services were good as always, we will be back for sure.
A true dining experience on the UES. Excellent service from front of house up. The food is excellent and the wine list is well thought out at all price points. The Somms will find you exactly the wine you like at any price point. The restaurant always treats you so well, it's always a pleasure to go there.
Great brunch on Saturday.
Simply awful. Shockingly bad for a very high priced resataurant that is part of a first class restaurant group. One good thing - my friend’s pasta. The restaurant was only 2/3rds full when we arrived. But it took nearly an hour and 20 minutes since we placed our order - I am not kidding - to receive our main courses. And that was about 20 minutes after I complained to the manager (checked with the kitchen and told my friend our main courses were being plated. My main course was a filet mignon which I ordered medium rare ((it arrived cool on the inside and room temperature on the outside, so it clearly had been sitting out). And the steak came with a a paltry serving of undistinquished vegetables which were room temperature, too. We should not have been surprised after starting the meal with ceasar salads with a flavorless dressing and topped with little crumbs which felt and tasted like sand. They waiter wins nowhere to be found, a bus boy came by once or twice when I signaled i needed my water glass re-filled, and the manager finally made her appearance when the main courses were delivered and heard my complaint about the temperature of the steak told me that is the way it is supposed to be. By the way, we were served a single complimentary 3-scoop cup of ice cream and sorbet (the sorbet was so sour that it was inedible). And, while we were happy to leave, as we walked by the manager we did not receive a word of acknowlegent about the restaurant’s many failures. Finally, I should add, when our waiter was at an adjacent table long after we had ordered our main dishes we heard him descibe “specials” that we were never told about earlier.
I had the best Branzino dish that I have ever had. Service was lovely.
I have been to Morini many times and it is always terrific. The service, food and atmosphere are always a step above other similar priced restaurants. They always accommodate special requests and substitutions to meet dietary restrictions. I plan on returning many timers in the future.
the size of the main course is getting a lot smaller, the fish servings are four ounces not more
Made reservation to use Open Table dining rewards here. However, manager James refused to accept Open Table Rewards card that was specifically issued in association with reservation at Morini. I was flummoxed, embarrassed in front of my guest, and screwed out of $50. Moreover he denied that my ability to make the reservation had anything to do with Morini and told me it was my problem and Open Table’s. BEWARE
Wonderful ambiance, friendly and efficient service, delicious food.
A simple place with mostly 2nd floor tables. A recent prix fixe lunch($40) began and ended brilliantly: Bomboncini, a sensational dish and ending with a small but delectable Affogato. A hanger steak entree was a disappointment: slightly overcooked but loaded with tough gristle. a dish that needs work. Glass of Evening Land pinot noir quite fine. Service was extremely accomodating but beware: based on three lunches here you'll need 21/2 hours to finish, with lengthy waits to get menu and order. Why this should be when restaurant is less than half full only the Altamarea chaps can say.
Service not great. Food came out not hot
Sent back sides and ultimately came late
The food was great and the restaurant lovely but our service really was not great.. it took forever to order our drinks and main course. The waiter told us that he was training someone but still, a restaurant of this level should not treat it's customers this way. We ended up being happy with everything else.
It was lovely
The whole dining experience is top notch and we never have any disappointing meals there!
Bday brunch- excellent
