Ristorante Morini Ratings and Reviews
Really disappointing. The restaurant was loud, service was slow and inattentive and the food was mediocre at best. The sauce on the halibut was so salty that it was practically inedible; other things lacked flavor. This was a special occasion dinner for my family and I expect better from Michael White. I would absolutely not go back.
The food at this restaurant was excellent! This chef never disappoints! My only complaint....it was my cousins birthday, she said she didn’t want a dessert, didn’t order one, and then the waiter whispered to me that he would bring her something special. My Elderly Aunt whispered, bring me a fork, I’ll have a bite! The waiter brought them EACH THEIR OWN DESSERTS AND THEN CHARGED ME ALMOST $30 for EACH ONE!!! Obviously, it was an uncomfortable situation and I was stuck paying for it. Too bad. It put a bad taste in my mouth after a fabulous meal. The waiter was great until he pulled that!
We enjoyed a delicious dinner here with two other friends. Our table was lovely and the service is truly impeccable. Our waiter was helpful as was the sommelier, who recommended two exquisite wines for out table. I had the octopus appetizer and my husband had the scallops. Both were beyond delicious, as was the rest of the meal. I enjoyed the Osso Bucco with the gnocchi. Loved it. Loved everything about the meal. Hope to go again.
1. They seated us next to an extremely noisy table but then reseated us elsewhere upon request.
2. They’ve spoiled what used to be an extraordinary lemon basil sorbet. Now it’s like a heavy gelato and not as delicious as it was. It wasn’t worth the calories so I didn’t finish it. Disappointed!
We met a friend for dinner. Robert, our wait person, was personable and friendly. I had a delicious cosmopolitan. He helped us select a lovely bottle of red wine. Our friend had lamb shank, while my husband enjoyed the lobster ravioli. The risotto was excellent as well. The restaurant was packed, as other people enjoyed it as well.
I go to morini a lot. There is always a different person at front desk to welcome guests. Unusual that nobody remembers us since in every other restaurant they know us by name when we arrive. Interesting.... anyway, had to change my Rez from 7 to 7:30 just so we wouldn’t be LATE to our Rez. The girl on the phone said well we will need the table by 8:30. At first I was like, wow, never heard that before to a returning 25% tipping customer but whatever. So I said we will probably be done by then, we were only 2. So we were amazed after only waiting approx 7 mins after we placed our dinner orders that our entrees arrived. It almost felt like it was precooked and u could just heat it up. Weird. Of course the food was delicious as always. Still great food. So we order dessert and coffee and the waiter comes while we just got our coffees and says with check in his hand, “ u have an arrangement with the maitre D about your table?” I was caught off guard at first and asked him to repeat it. He said it again and then it hit me that the waiter was now asking us to move it along and pay and get out. So I must say that at this time it was 825pm. We literally ate in less than one hour. We felt as though we were being thrown out of the restaurant. Being dismissed. I was in shock. My husband works for one of the top well known steakhouses in the city, midtown and he’s never ever allowed to do anything like this. This was completely classless and unacceptable. No thank you. There are plenty delicious restaurants on Madison and upper east side who treat us like royalty and never rush us out. (Oh and there were 3 other tables for 2 that were empty and still dirty dishes on them.) so I am not sure what the rush was but they won’t see us again. For sure.
upper east side eatery catering to mostly local crowd, many of whom are over 75. dress is casual and generally not elegant ambience is therefore a bit geriatric and not as romantic as it could be probably the only downer
tasting menu is sumptuous tuesday was dover sole which was as good as I've had anywhere in NYC Pastas are predictably excellent. grilled octopus was wonderful. completed with chianti classico riserva very fairly priced and the evening was a success unlike many other establishments, here you won't have to fill up on bread
for the $$ it's a wonderful choice
Ristorante Morini was delicious. We were travelling in New York on vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday and actually enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal here. They never rushed any of us and the food was amazing. I had the turkey, while others enjoyed the beef and the salmon. The entire prix fix menu was excellent. Usually on a holiday you never know what to expect, but we were not disappointed, only pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the food was. And the atmosphere is beautiful as well. The servers were very kind an cordial. Would definitely recommend!
Went to Morini to celebrate a birthday. Everything about the meal and experience was terrific; I was thrilled. This is not an inexpensive place but the 4 course price fixe menu is, relatively, a good value considering the a la carte menu.
We always get the prix fixe option, because it encourages us to try new things. This time we tried the lobster--fantastic! Such a delicious presentation. The service, as always, was fabulous. Our only complaint is the HVAC system, which runs very much hot or cold. Try not to sit under a vent!
Dish not as described on menu - cream, heavy butter, and buttered breadcrumbs in sauce.
Attention for drink orders, but ignore need for water refills. Way over priced for unhealthy, inexpensive ingredients. No service unless customer seeks out staff self. Comfortable chairs
and table, moderate noise so possible to speak with friends on a Sunday night when 50% full.
Waiter chose bottle of 'house white wine' was $56.00
This place is like the molten core of the Upper East Side. It's very classy and comfortable, with an elevator to the second floor. The service is very attentive and responsive. The chairs are well padded. The soup was a highlight. I wish I could have tried more dishes.
Went to the restaurant and they tried to give us the smallest table in the restaurant. We asked for a different table they made us wait at least 20 min more. Finally we sat down upstairs at a very nice table the restaurant was busy. Atmosphere was very pleasant. We ordered our meal and it took forever to get our dinner. We keeper asking the waiter where our dinner was and for some reason he reverted us back to the hostess. The food was ok but not worth the very very long wait. It took the enjoyment out of the evening. For anyone going I hope you have a lot of time and patience!!!
Very lovely experience. A very upscale Italian restaurant with a quality take on its dishes that were fairly unique more because of the sauces and flavors as opposed to what they actually were. Veal Milanese had arugula, shaved parmigiana & peaches with a delicious but light brown sauce. Thinly sliced raw tuna appetizer had unusual sauces as well. Ambiance was sophisticated & less noisy than you often experience these days. Price fixed dinner is recommended as an option that is worthwhile because there are no limitations , only a couple of upcharges (lobster entree) and the prices are fairly high in any case, so you get a bit more for the money & an opportunity to try every category on the menu.
Ok, so our first visit to Ristorante Morini was marred only by a server who apparently was having an off day. We received a personal message from the manager, who apologized for the shortcomings, and requested that we return. We did and whatever went amiss on the first visit was more than compensated on our next. The service was impeccable and we were comp'd with several dishes. The food was exceptional as all in our party of four were delighted with our selections. I can heartily recommend Ristorante Morini to anyone seeking excellent cuisine, a fine wine list, and most attentive service.
