Ristorante Morini
The whole dining experience is top notch and we never have any disappointing meals there!
Bday brunch- excellent
This was the fourth visit to Ristorante Morini in the past 2 years. Brunch and dinner were the occasions. With one exception on an early visit, the service was impeccable. On the "off" occasion, the restaurant made good with a generous comp on our next visit. This occasion was brunch and our selections were delicious. Braised short rib polenta and the frittata. No room for dessert .. too bad the bombollinos are decadent.
Very good food except that we were given wrong plates two times. We ordered two lobster benedicts but got prosciutto instead... And the mistake happened again with dessert. The restaurant soon changed our plates though.
good date night spot. pasta is great!
Just a comment, not a review - but the restaurant, certainly the SW corner where we were seated, seems dark. I'm also concerned that sound bounces, so it seems noisy ... not the loud crowd noise, just sound reverberates because there's nothing to soften it. Everything else is wonderfully consistently excellent.
Ambiance is so so. Furnishings not great. Service definitely Poor. NICE waiters but had too many tables...didn't come around. All in all, I would never go back.

Birthday lunch
This is the most inconsistent restaurant I have been to more than a couple of times. I have had excellently prepared pasta and second courses here , and absolutely dreadful versions of those same dishes a few days later. Why????
My experience after 4 tries is that the quality of food preparation declines over the course of the evening. Early (between 5 and 6:30) the food emerges freshly prepared, pastas are al dente and sauces are well seasoned. Later in the evening it is as if the pastas had been precooked and then served with long standing sauces. The entrees like veal Milanese are fresh and crisp early but soggy and apparently steam tabled or microwaved later. If you go here , do so pre theater or early. Stay away from the reheated foods from later in the evening.
Food was delicious and service was attentive. The veal Milanese was outstanding!
Will continue to return. In fact, we’ll be back with friends of February 5th.
First time and food was good. The waiter Robert was knowledgeable and very attentive. Will dine there again for sure.
Quality and value of the food is always excellent here! At this visit, we must have had an inexperienced or overworked wait staff. There was a long wait for food which arrived cold. The restaurant did remake the entrees which were very good. They also offered us an extra dessert which was a nice gesture.
We were disappointed that the upstairs dining area is not available during lunch.
Comfortable attractive spot for upscale Italian cuisine. Noise level is moderate to low which makes it a nice place to enjoy with friends, for business etc.
We were in town a few days, visited the Guggenheim which was then a very short walk to Morini. There to host a cousin for dinner. He lives on 93rd so it was close for him and considering he was there before he was pleased with the selections. His only hesitation was that since his visit after newly owned he was unhappy with the wine list finding the costs very high. He thinks they may have adjusted the list and had a better offering with better value and pricing. THE FOOD was excellent. Fresh, beautiful presentation and delicious. THE SERVICE was perfect. Very pleasant and attentive without ‘hovering’. THE AMBIANCE was beautiful. Contemporary yet very warm and inviting. And quiet where we were seated upstairs. Will go again!
We had a wonderful time at Morini upstairs with our friends tonight. We loved the food and service. The agnolotti is simply divine, the kale salad is one of the best (with a touch a citrus). I often hop in for lunch to downstairs, which is a bit more causal (which I often prefer, as the service is similarly exceptional). Ristorante Morini on the Upper East Side is my personal favorite Italian restaurant in New York City.
great spot and prix fee is great . nice staff and tatsy food.
Great local restaurant - consistent quality and efficient and pleasant service. Sommelier is the best!
Really nice lunch on New Year’s eve.
A well run nice restaurant. Very good food, excellent service, nice ambience. A perfect place to meet old friends, have a nice dinner and catch up on things.
We loved it! From the moment we walked in to every detail/taste of the food and wine was incredible! We will recommend Restorante Morini to all our friends visiting NYC!
We love this place! So good, every time!
Amazing restaurant. Everything was perfect to the last detail. Every time I go I am always amazed by the attention and the experience.
On Christmas, my wife and I had dinner there. It was excellent. We had the Christmas Day menu. We had octopus as an appetizer. For we had the pasta, we had risotto. It was very rich. For our main course, we had Branzino. It had no bones. For our dessert, we had Panna Cotta. The service was excellent. It was quiet, which we like.
I have been going to this restaurant regularly at least once a week, since I live in the neighborhood.Sadly Christmas Eve dinner was anything but pleasant. 6-8 weeks ago I made a reservation for 2 for 8pm for Christmas Eve.I requested a corner table because I am recovering from a broken ankle and to be comfortable I need space to stretch my leg. I double checked in person a week prior to dinner and I was assured of getting a corner table. I did not request a specific table but a corner table there are several in the restaurant. The staff is well aware about my injury.i still walk with a cane, I have been going to morini with a wheel chair and crutches.
We arrived at 8pm and were led to a tiny table stuck between 2 parties. I was told this was the only available table and a party of 3 was waiting for a corner table... we decided to wait. The bar was full ,we were sitting in the small area where there is a lot of foot traffic. Not the most comfortable space for sitting with a broken ankle and broken leg. We waited 50 minutes during which time we were not asked if we wanted a drink from the bar, or anything, we were basically ignored by the woman manager like an inconvenience. She was speaking to us in a rude manner. After 50 minutes we decided to leave and go somewhere else.Just then a corner table became available. To be honest at this point I wanted to leave, but we had other plans after dinner it was too late to go somewhere else.We started dinner at 9pm instead of 8pm. Time cut in half dinner was more rushed and less enjoyable. We had to leave at 10:15 pm to make it to the midnight mass in time. The waiters who I know and who are always very nice tried to make up for the disaster, but the evening was ruined.
When you spend $200 for a dinner for 2, this is not the kind of treatment you expect. My sister visiting from Europe was shocked at the way we were treated.
We had a reservation for new years eve that I cancelled on the spot.
I do not recommend this restaurant.
$ 100+ lunch for two bowls of soup, two small (appetizer size) salads, one bottle of water and one desert. Just ridiculous. Plus, getting sick after lunch says I will never return.
Very good food and very good surprises with the price of dishes on Sunday late evening
We arrived on time and were seated upstairs. The restaurant was only half full on a Saturday night at 7:30pm so we should have realized Morini was having issues. 10min in we ordered a bottle of Mersault. 20 minutes after that I asked if ether was a problem finding the wine and if so I could select a different bottle. 25minutes after ordering the wine now appeared and dinner orders were then taken. 3 salads and 3 fish entrees plus 2 sides. A full 30 min later the salads arrived. Following salads the entrees came but no sides. My sea bass was burned to a char (not listed as "charred" on the menu). the black skin was sealed onto the fish so harshly I could not obtain a clean bite without having charred fish skin ruin the taste. The vegetable sides never came. We asked about them and our confused server said she would inquire. Our plates were cleared and when she returned (now 15 minutes later), we said it was now too late for the sides. She apologized and offered us dessert. We shared one ice cream. we were charged for everything! no manger came by to apologize for the multiple errors and omissions. Then the final insult. I requested my coat from the downstairs coat check and gave them my ticket. They neglected to also give me a shopping bag of presents that i had checked with my coat on the same ticket. On a freezing cold night I had to walk back 10 blocks to retrieve the missing bag. No apologies from the coat check people and they acted like it was my fault for not remembering. Will NOT return
‘Unfriendly’ is how I would describe the overall experience- from the front desk all the way to the wait staff.
Wine list and crudo excellent. Service great. Only criticism is the atmosphere, a little industrial, lacks warmth, intimacy
One of our neighborhood favorites. Well done Italian food. Had octupus appetizer, Milanese, and budino. All were perfect. Nice list of Italian wines at about 3X retail. The room is nice with widely spaced tables but would consider the noise level high.
The pastas were the highlight of the meal. The agnolotti was particularly amazing. The Frito Misto was a bit soggy and greasy. The veal Milanese was perfectly fried, but was a little confusing with both the typical arugula and a mushroom sauce that was good, but was odd to pair with the greens.
Delicious food, great service ,vibrant bar scene
Excellent!!
Little overpriced but not a bad place near the museum. Upstairs is nice. Amazing scones for breakfast put on
The table. Hard to resist. Service could be better. They take order fast but then it vanishes. Waitresses need to make eye contact so they know if you need something and not keep walking by.
This has become our go-to high end brunch. Their crusty French Toast with cinnamon whipped cream is among our favorites. The lunch-type items are delicious too including the ricotta and spinach ravioli. Servers are always prompt and thorough and the noise level is buzzy without making it difficult to talk.
Slow with drinks. Food delicious.
great evening except the music from the trio was annoying for those of us in late 70s
Special occasions for dinner. For lunch, it is a good place for a quiet and not too expensive a lunch.
