Ristorante Morini Ratings and Reviews
I used a gilt city voucher.........it said that the dinner included an appetizer and drinks.....I did not read the small print which stated no wine.......I spoke to the manager who was inflexible about substituting wine for a cocktail.........she was not the most agreeable person in her personality or her ability to make the best of a tense situation....... I felt that she could have handled the situation by employing a more positive attitude .........it boggles the mind to understand why wine ......the same price or less could not be substituted for a cocktail
Great time, great food. I must admit, the tables for two are very close and usually I do not patron restaurants that put you right on top of people. However, I had a corner an end table and it wasn't too bad primarily because the couple next to us was very nice and interesting. The wine choices were fine (not too many choices in the $50 range - but the sommelier there was very helpful) and they had an excellent prix fix dinner (4 courses) for $75 - anything on the menu. I recommend it and I will be back, but probably with a larger group.
Sadly, while the food was good-it was not as good as the last time I was there. All food arrived tepid. The agnolotti was flavorful but was somewhat less soft and luxurious then the first time there. But what really made the whole evening unpleasant was our waitress who gave the impression that she was just going through the motions. Only the sommelier was knowledgeable and happy.
This was my second time going to Morini. We went for my wife's birthday and everyone enjoyed the meal. The portions are not oversized and were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend the orcchiette pasta with lamb sausage in a red sauce. It was excellent. Definitely a keeper and we will return.
We’ve been to Morini several times, and each time the food is great and the service is even better; particularly this time our server Robert was very friendly and helpful. The service is so much better than Vaucluse and Marea. That horrible server we had at Marea two years ago should come to Morini to take a lesson from Robert!
I have never had a bad meal at Ristorante Morini and Xmas Day was no exception.
They offered a 3 course or a 4 course prix fix menu (the difference being an inclusion of a pasta course for the 4 course option) and two of us had the 3 course and two of us had the 4 course.
Everything was delicious - really delicious! The pastas (which our friends generously shared with us) were outstanding in particular. If there were any disappointments, perhaps the desserts did not reach the level of the rest of the meal but who needs to finish dessert anyhow?
Chef White does not disappoint!
Really disappointing. The restaurant was loud, service was slow and inattentive and the food was mediocre at best. The sauce on the halibut was so salty that it was practically inedible; other things lacked flavor. This was a special occasion dinner for my family and I expect better from Michael White. I would absolutely not go back.
The food at this restaurant was excellent! This chef never disappoints! My only complaint....it was my cousins birthday, she said she didn’t want a dessert, didn’t order one, and then the waiter whispered to me that he would bring her something special. My Elderly Aunt whispered, bring me a fork, I’ll have a bite! The waiter brought them EACH THEIR OWN DESSERTS AND THEN CHARGED ME ALMOST $30 for EACH ONE!!! Obviously, it was an uncomfortable situation and I was stuck paying for it. Too bad. It put a bad taste in my mouth after a fabulous meal. The waiter was great until he pulled that!
We enjoyed a delicious dinner here with two other friends. Our table was lovely and the service is truly impeccable. Our waiter was helpful as was the sommelier, who recommended two exquisite wines for out table. I had the octopus appetizer and my husband had the scallops. Both were beyond delicious, as was the rest of the meal. I enjoyed the Osso Bucco with the gnocchi. Loved it. Loved everything about the meal. Hope to go again.
1. They seated us next to an extremely noisy table but then reseated us elsewhere upon request.
2. They’ve spoiled what used to be an extraordinary lemon basil sorbet. Now it’s like a heavy gelato and not as delicious as it was. It wasn’t worth the calories so I didn’t finish it. Disappointed!
We met a friend for dinner. Robert, our wait person, was personable and friendly. I had a delicious cosmopolitan. He helped us select a lovely bottle of red wine. Our friend had lamb shank, while my husband enjoyed the lobster ravioli. The risotto was excellent as well. The restaurant was packed, as other people enjoyed it as well.
I go to morini a lot. There is always a different person at front desk to welcome guests. Unusual that nobody remembers us since in every other restaurant they know us by name when we arrive. Interesting.... anyway, had to change my Rez from 7 to 7:30 just so we wouldn’t be LATE to our Rez. The girl on the phone said well we will need the table by 8:30. At first I was like, wow, never heard that before to a returning 25% tipping customer but whatever. So I said we will probably be done by then, we were only 2. So we were amazed after only waiting approx 7 mins after we placed our dinner orders that our entrees arrived. It almost felt like it was precooked and u could just heat it up. Weird. Of course the food was delicious as always. Still great food. So we order dessert and coffee and the waiter comes while we just got our coffees and says with check in his hand, “ u have an arrangement with the maitre D about your table?” I was caught off guard at first and asked him to repeat it. He said it again and then it hit me that the waiter was now asking us to move it along and pay and get out. So I must say that at this time it was 825pm. We literally ate in less than one hour. We felt as though we were being thrown out of the restaurant. Being dismissed. I was in shock. My husband works for one of the top well known steakhouses in the city, midtown and he’s never ever allowed to do anything like this. This was completely classless and unacceptable. No thank you. There are plenty delicious restaurants on Madison and upper east side who treat us like royalty and never rush us out. (Oh and there were 3 other tables for 2 that were empty and still dirty dishes on them.) so I am not sure what the rush was but they won’t see us again. For sure.
