About Ristorante Milano
The flavors of Milano's food and the rhythm of the dining room are reminiscent of trattorias in Italy's cities, according to Gourmet Magazine. It is a charming, intimate restaurant with an Italian staff, top quality ingredients, homemade pastas, exceptional veal, polenta, risotto, and fresh seafood delivered daily, served in warm surroundings. Known as the "hidden jewel of Russian Hill" The San Francisco Chronicle calls Milano "one of the most consistent restaurants in the city".

Ristorante Milano Ratings and Reviews
This was my first visit to Ristorante Milano and it will definitely not be the last. The owner Aldo seated us at our table. The whole staff was outstanding. The Carpaccio di Tonno was served with arugula with true sashimi grade tuna. A very generous serving. My wife had the Fettucine alla Ghiotta which was cooked to perfection. The pasta special that night was the lasagna. The thin sheets of pasta were very delicate and the ragu was amazing. The Tiramisu is as good as one can get.
I asked for a table by the window for my birthday dinner and they placed us in a quiet space by the window. The food was fresh and delicious. We had grilled vegetables, homemade pasta with seafood, wild salmon was cooked perfectly and the wine was lovely too. I highly recommend.
I got the fresh made fettuccine milanese, which is more a bolognese style meatsauce, but very well made. I enjoyed that. As a main I took fish of the day which was a fresh piece of salmon with panfried zucchini battons, baked ptotatoes and mushrooms in a lemon white wine reduction. I hope to go there again very soon. Very friendly staff. The place does get busy though.
Our yearly trip to SF brings us here year after year. Always a favorite.
We never miss a chance to have the gnocchi probably the best we have ever had.
This year I had the veal, very tender wonderful lemon sauce. The beet ravioli were yum and grilled veggies always spot on.
This year the service was not up to its usual 5 star good to matrix wine back on the wine list.
My girlfriend found this spot for my birthday a couple years back, the best pasta we have ever had in our lives! We make it almost a monthly thing now, the service is great! It's a small, cute little place and their desserts are absolutely amazing as well. You'd be doing yourselves a huge service by going here and understanding the greatness.
We were looking for good Italian this weekend, and boy, did we find it! Open Table never fails! The table seating was a little cozier than my 6'-3" frame likes, but otherwise the atmosphere was charming. I tried the Minestrone and it was flavorful and served piping hot. I tried the lasagna special and it, too, was delicious. The pasta was not too heavy and the ragu was very tasty. My wife's pasta was even better! We split a dessert of the Chocolate torte with a scoop of vanilla gelato and it really was the icing on the cake. Only downside - the Italian red wine "paired" on the daily special menu did not have the polish I would have hoped for. But the service was great and we will definitely visit again!
A neighborhood gem that remains excellent and charming in every way for over 30 years. We have been going there since the original owners and today everything was as tasty as it was on our forst visit. Homemade pastas were delicious and the Saltimbocca remains a favorite. Good wine list and personable service added to the wonderful evening. Loved it once again!
Excellent restaurant. Delicious cutlery licking food and nicest owner and the staff. Our favorite dessert wasn’t available so they gave another complimentary dessert. Also, met a lovely elderly couple who has been coming to the restaurant on New Year’s Eve from the last 30 years. Our new year eve was totally made. We are so going back there again and will bring friends.
We had a reservation for New Years Eve dinner. What a wonderful experience. The meal was delicious, simply yummy. The staff and owner were attentive and first class. Finally the cost was tremendous value. We drive from Santa Cruz and will be back. Am looking forward to returning with San Francisco friends for the start of a city evening.
My partner and I wound up here for New Year's Eve. It was a cozy spot to share champagne and eat a delicious meal before heading into the rest of the evening! I liked the atmosphere and we were seated promptly. It was cold out so we were all bundled up but it was quite warm inside so having removable layers was a plus.
My boyfriend's lasagna was superb. My seafood risotto was also really delicious; the seafood was perfectly cooked. The tiramisu was so good we got one to go. What a great place to have our last dinner of 2017! Thanks for the delicious food and yummy treats!
Wonderfully run, small, friendly and excellent neighborhood Italian. Aldo and his team are very welcoming and attentive and give solid recommendations. Homemade pastas were excellent (amatriciana, puttanesca, mushrooms with sausage cream). Appetizers (sardines with greens, calamari on white beans) were fresh, delicious and attractively presented.
This is my fourth visit to Ristorante Milano and each time the food has been delicious, the wait staff friendly and attentive and the ambiance charming. Another plus is that it is quiet enough to enjoy conversation at your table. Because this is a neighborhood restaurant, parking can be a challenge. This restaurant is on the opposite side of town from my home, yet I will keep coming back; it is that good!
One of our favorite restaurants in the city! Ristorante Milano is a true gem. The meals are always lovely, delicious, healthy, and are prepared with care and a feel of homemade elegance. There's an emphasis on freshness and authenticity and wholesome flavorful simplicity. The service is always great and they have a really nice selection of wines and desserts as well. It's quiet enough for conversation but it's also a lively place for a special meal any time of year. We love it so much!
We went to Ristorante Milano wanting an authentic Italian dinner, and our expectations were surpassed. My husband had the lasagne which had 8 ultra-thin layers of pasta, with bechamel and meat sauce. I had the veal scalloping which was thin, tender, and delicious. It was as if we were transported to Tuscany for the evening. Lovely.
