"When I decided to open Ristorante Illando, I had a vision in my head...my cozy house back in Firenze, Italy; my family dining table filled with the food I grew up with. Now I can surround you with the warmth of my Italian home and an authentic Italian meal here at Illando. Benvenuti e buon appetito a tutti!!"
Located just above Little Italy San Diego's popular pizza shop, Landini's Pizzeria.
The best. See Eddie
Food was great and service was very attentive. The chairs are a little less then comfortable, especially for my dad who is 6'6". But overall a good experience and world go back!
Great as always!
Wonderful authentic Italian cuisine. Attentive, knowledgeable wait persons. Fabulous ambience. Very accommodating for our large party of 14.
Had dinner to celebrate an engagement! The food was delicious, the wine was great, and the staff was attentive, kind, and helpful! I’ll be recommending Ristorante Illando to friends and family!
Service is very good and provide recommendations when asked. Caesar salad had too much dressing but the pasta didn’t disappoint. Love the decor and ambience.
Natasha is THEE BEST SERVER !! Always a friendly welcome and such an amazing smile !
The food and service were very good. We had to be seated upstairs and back on their patio because inside dining was full at the time we wanted for our reservation. It wasn’t much to look at but getting to chat with our neighbors from Scotland was a pleasant experience. The servers and waitstaff were excellent. The food was good. They do Brussels sprouts with pancetta that I could’ve eaten as my main course.
Our fav restaurant in Little Italy! Hands down! We are regulars here and love coming back.
Outstsnding foid, friendly attentive staff. Weds night wine 1/2 price
We really enjoyed the dining experience and food and the service. Our server was wonderful. If anything, the patio was a bit too casual, with boxes stacked up around.
We felt special from the moment we walked in. We read the good reviews on the food and they lived to tell the tale. Loved this cute, clean, modern, and romantic Italian restaurant!
I was in San Diego for Labor Day weekend and wanted to try a new Italian restaurant in Little Italy. I decided upon Ristorante Illando. I called and was hoping for Saturday for reservations, but they couldn't get me in until 10pm. I decided to wait until Sunday, and make reservations earlier. I went in Sunday at 8:15 (which they called and said I could come earlier, but we kept it at 8:15). The hostess (I didn't get her name) was super nice and friendly) seated us immediately. Upon going upstairs to the restaurant, I could see why making early reservations is a must. It's not as big as I expected, but I like smaller places. Our server was Natalia. She was excellent. Very attentive. Our food.....unbelievable. The meatballs are probably one of the best I've ever had. The chicken Parmesan was exquisite. Normally, I end up having to ask for a take home box, but not this time. The bread and dipping oil was great, too. The wine selection was perfect. I highly recommend going here if you're in San Diego. If I could give 10 stars, I would. I will be back.
This is prob or favorite local italian restautant. We've dine here at least 10 times and it is always the best. The service by Eddie us always supreme. The food is authentically delicious and prices are the best in little Italy.
Absolutely loved everything about this place! Actually ended up eating here twice in one week while visiting because I enjoyed the food so much!
very nice and authentic
small dining room upstairs
food was a bit salty
The food was great and the service was fantastic!
Great food and service, Eddie really took care of us, meatballs, lasagna, parpadelle, tiramisu were great!
Delicious in every bite! The ambience of this restaurant is very laid back but intimate. The fact that the restaurant in the second floor it gives it a bonus. Not only are you able to see the main street of little Italy, but the second floor view gives a hint of romanticism.
The lobsters ravioli was delightful & the pizza was filled with so much flavor. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. In conclusion, staff was welcoming, professional
And efficient. 😋
Excellent pasta, reasonable prices, friendly service. A lovely gem in the middle of bustling Little Italy!
Food was authentic and staff was very friendly. Would definitely recommend!
The food overall was just ok. The entrees were average but not worth the $20-30 price The pizza was soggy and oily. The service was beyond slow even though it wasn’t that crowded. Took forever to get our check.
Great find in Little Italy! This restaurant had great food and perfect service. It was a great find out of the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. The ambiance was perfect. There were 7 of us and you could have a nice conversation and hear each other. The pizza's looked amazing and my fish was fabulous. I would highly recommend Ristorante Illando!
Great food & wine. Impeccable service!
Awesome restaurant, small, quaint, wonderful waitstaff. Very casual, but with good wine selection and delicious food.
All was delicious, service by Sara excellent. We enjoyed our evening Ng very much and would come frequently if we lived here.
Food was prepared too perfection. All three meals came out hot and cooked just right. Location is upstairs and very cozy atmosphere with lots of home touches. Only issue was waiter must have been a relative because he spent more time talking to female regulars than checking on his tables. Had too get someone else for drink refills twice. Only saw server when he took order and when he brought check. All the females were hustling dropping off food, putting out bread, clearing plates, etc. and really deserved the tip. Shame that service didn’t represent the true Italian hospital like the food did.
The service was great, but the food was pretty terrible with an inexcusable lack of flavor: the veal was unseasoned, paper thin, and naturally overcooked, topped with what seamed to be a piece of microwaved or streamed prosciutto and served over bland potatoes and veggies. The lamb chops were equally bland an unimaginative. All served at top-dollar rates. Skip this place.
Good good reasonably priced relaxed atmosphere for friend gathering moderately priced
Overall good value
We had a little trouble finding the restaurant since we didn’t know it was upstairs, however everything went smoothly after that. The ambiance was great and food was delicious. Would definitely return if I visit San Diego again.
Once we got there it was empty and I felt silly for having a reservation. Within an hour or so the place was full and full of conversation. There are fairly steep stairs for upstairs seating so be weary if this poses a challenge to you or your party.
Great food - we had the octopus over arugula as an appetizer which had a clean plate within 10 minutes. We ordered a bottle of red wine for a reasonable price that did not disappoint. Entrees were lobster ravioli and fettuccini gamberri e pancetta - both were awesome! I wish that we had time for dessert to try one of the cannolis. Service was wonderful and everything was perfect for a nice birthday dinner.
Love the food and atmosphere.. service was friendly and personable..
One our fav restaurants in San Diego! Ambiance, food, drinks and service. Eddie (server) is the best!
We came in on a quiet week night (Tuesday) and I had to push our reservation back three times (work)-- the kind woman at the welcome desk (to the right of the pizza shop) was extremely kind about it and led us to our table :) the ambiance was relaxed, yet elegant (I only wish there had been candles at some point to add to the romance of the spot). Our server, Gianluca, was lovely and informed us of the Tuesday "Date Night Special"--order two entrees and you get a bottle of champagne for $1! We ordered the lasagna as well as the chicken parm-- and the Aperitivo Tower to start. Oh my goodness-- the tower was incredible! I almost wish that was all we had ordered-- it was meat, cheese, bread, tomatoes-- I can't recommend it more! Everything was tasty and wonderful:)
The food was amazing and the service we received from Natasha was even better. We had the lobster ravioli and the spaghetti ala vongole. When I go back to San Diego I will definitely be back.
My girlfriend and I went there with our close friends and had an amazing time. The food was great!
This place was great - upstairs from a pizza by the slice kinda place in the heart of Little Italy. I can't remember our servers name because he spoke so quickly, perhaps he didn't introduce himself and got straight down to business. He made great recommendations and wine suggestions. I had the crab meat pasta and my husband got the Mahi Mahi off the menu, not the special. Both were flavorful and great.
Some of the best Italian food we have experienced anywhere. This was a real find. Located in a busy section of SD's LittleItaly, it is a 2d floor walk-up, but nicely set up in crisp clean space. The food is the attraction, and it delivered. Wine list is excellent also. We highly recommend!
Thanks for being part of of our SDSU graduation celebration. It was awesome!
I brought my family here to celebrate Mother’s Day for my mom. The service was exceptional even beginning from the Hostess’ to the servers, busters, food runners and all. We were acknowledged at every moment and asked if we needed more water, bread or needed anything. It felt very welcoming and the food was unbelievably fresh. The pasta was cooked perfectly. We got the Caesar salad, the pizza with tomato & basil (amazing), the spaghetti carbonara and the red meat sauce pasta. Everything was on point tonight and it was our first time, we will definitely come back. For first timers the only issue would be to find the entrance but since I had already read reviews I knew it was connected to Landinis pizzaria ! I recommend this place to anyone who loves homemade Italian food and cozy vibe.
