With 52 seats, the restaurant is intimate yet relaxed, the tunes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin can be overheard in the background. It's a great place to dine for dinner or a great lunch and we are very fortunate that the food critics have loved us and have given us great reviews.
One of my favorite signature dishes is the Oyster Oreganate which consists of oysters lightly dusted in Italian bread crumbs, baked and finished with Romano cheese and fresh parsley. This is just one of my favorites from our menu of veal, seafood, pasta and steak dishes.
This is a MUST Resturant !!!!! It's the best food and service.
It is our 4th time there and we go because it is close to our home. I would not recommend this restaurant if you want true Italian food. Try Vincent's instead. My husband and I went for Valentine's Day, early on purpose. We were seated way in the back by the exit doors and the more popular customers got a seat at a table in the middle of the room. The server was very nice and told us about the prix fixe menu. That was good and I ordered a filet which was served burnt on the bottom and hidden by spinach with so much garlic that I choked. I do like garlic but that was too much. My husband had a veal chop which was good I had to send the filet back. I truly feel as though it is a special restaurant for the friends of the owner/hostess, but clearly, we were not part of the crowd Finally, the cost was as much as it would have been at Ruth's had I ordered the same thing $200 basically with the prix fixe, one glass of wine and the gratuity. Never again.
Delicious food. There was one waiter for 8-10 tables, which seemed difficult.
Excellent food, wonderful cocktails, it is a favorite of ours!!
Service was great! Our server was really nice and friendly. Appetizers were delicious. Entrees were large portions and worth the price for what they gave us. Sauces were a little on the sweet side but overall, everything was wonderful.
Took us 20 minutes to get a glass of wine. Didn’t even seem that busy in the restaurant. Caprese salad barely had any dressing on it. For the price and service, I wouldn’t go back.
They had a special appetizer with crabmeat and eggplant medallions, OMG GOOD!!!
Pretty quiet, great service, great food
The food was terrific. Waiter was outside smoking when we arrived and departed. Owner was quite disrespectful to an employee in the open dining room in the presence of customers
Nice, quiet Italian restaurant with low lighting and nice ambiance. Friendly service and delicious food. Large salads can be shared by 4 people.
A rare opportunity to experience a family owned and operated Italian Restaurant. The menu is expertly executed by the owner-chef who assures every dish is delivered to perfection. The chef personally visits the tables to assure that everything is as it should be.
If you want to experience truly authentic Italian meals in a neighbor environment this is your place.
Comfortable restaurant serving hearty Italian food. Portions are generous and of the 6 dishes we had, all were excellent. A little difficult to find, tucked away on a side street, but worth the few loops needed to get there!
Great experience. Found the cocktails to be high priced compared to many other restaurants - $16/drink vs. $10-12 in comparable restaurants.
We have been here a number of times and always thought of the food quality to be above average. This last visit on new year's eve was somewhat of a disappointment. It just did not measure up. I suppose it has something to do with the huge crowds eating but still. a bit disappointing.
Restaurant actually took us early!! Food was very good but not exceptional!! I thought food was pricey but I understand it was New Years Eve!!
Over booked, long wait, charged us even though we had to leave due to inadequate and poor service. Very disappointed. We won’t visit again. Ruined New Years for us.
Great New Year’s Eve celebration!
We spent a family Christmas Eve dinner at Filippo's that offered a prix fixe and absolutely enjoyed the food and experience!
This is the best Italian Resturant in the city !!!!!!!
Five Stars for this Resturant.
I took my father to this restaurant for a nice Christmas Eve lunch and we really enjoyed the service and the food and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and plan to return as well.
Christmas Eve with me 89 year old dad
We’ve been to Ristorante Fillippo for years and always had a delicious & memorable experience. Tonight was over the top!
We had the Chicken Picatta and the Pesce Griglia. Both were delicious!
The service was attentive and personable, even though it was the Christmas Holiday and quite busy.
Anyone looking for classic New Orleans Italian food in a cozy, comfortable, white linen neighborhood restaurant, look no further. We live in the French Quarter and when we are looking for this kind of place, we head straight to Metairie and Ristorante Filippo. Always a lovely evening!
was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic!
Everything is outstanding
Dinner celebration for my Moms Birthday!
Food was delicious as always!!!
They treated my mom so special!!!
Our favorite neighborhood gem💗
Always a great experience!
Meal and service was great.
Excellent neighborhood gem. This is Italian food like my grandmother used to make. There are many restaurants that have meatballs on the menu in this city. And I have tried many of them. And not just in New Orleans, but all over the country and out of the country. And I must say that Ristorante Filippo has the absolute best. That happens to be my personal favorite dish there, but I have also tried the veal dishes that are also amazing. Whether going for lunch or dinner, it's always great!
Usually restaurant Filippo is so delicious and the service is usually spot on. This last time however the service was not up to par and the food was not as good as usual. We will be back however because normally everything is absolutely delicious. We ordered the egg plant Napoleon which was not hot when it arrived at the table but being with another couple who had not been there before we chose not to send it back. The waitress made us feel a little bit rushed by taking plates too soon but again we enjoyed the overall experience. The price is good each couple with an appetizer to entrées one dessert and two glasses of wine was about $100
Filippo is one of our favorite places. The food I'd outstanding the service is great. The only knock there ever is , is the place is a little cramped. They make good use of the space they have it's just there not much of it. If you go always make a reservation.
The ambience is very pleasing. The food and service is outstanding . The owners greet you and are so nice !!!
It is truly our favorite Resturant now . We have been there 3 weeks in a row now and plan in going every weekend. Shout out to owners Mary and Phillip. Another shout out to Francisco one if our waiters who is truly professional. It is a real date night .
Sat out group upstairs and we didn’t get regular service from the staff.
Sitting was slow but food was excellent
Excepeptional dining experience as usual!!!
From service to delicious food and fantastic service!
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant.Recommend for any occasion!!!!
The problem is that the service is very slow and the place is extremely tight. But food is delicious
We had reservations and arrived a few minutes before. We waited just a few minutes, which was fine. The place was packed, loud(sounded like a football cheering squad!). We were seated at a table against the wall, with built in bench seating on one side and a chair on the other. The tables on either side of us were maybe 10 inches from us. Ok. No big deal. Noone came to our table for 10 minutes. Then, when the obviously over-wrought waitress came to take our drink orders, we also put in an ordered for an appetizer. 10 minutes later she brought our drinks. We waited for our appetizer. She came back and took our dinner order after 5 minutes. We waited for our appetizer and my husbands salad. Nothing. Finally, about 40 minutes after getting our drinks, a waiter came out with our entrees. My husband and I were done. We called for our waitress, who said the oyster appetizer we ordered takes 20 minutes. Well, it had been 30 minutes since we ordered it, and where was the salad. They said they would take the entrees back, but I didn't want to eat food that sat under a heat lamp for another 20 minutes. We decided to cut our losses and leave. We had been there an hour and had 1 glass of wine and a coke. The owner refused our payment for the wine and coke. She was very nice and apologetic, but it was too little too late. We had been there several times before, but not on a Saturday. All the other times were fine. But the noise level was intense. We could hardly hear each other. And the service was non-existent. It was a shame. We went to another similar restaurant, were served and attended to, and left feeling fine.
Seated next to a loud obnoxious vulgar mouth group of 7-8 people. I had to tell them to hold it down so my table could talk! Restaurants should learn to put big groups away from couples and small groups.
Waitress kept getting lost-felt very ignored. I’ve been here many times before and never experienced bad service or such noise.
Thankfully the food was great, as usual.
I said yes, I would recommend this restaurant based not on my experience on Friday evening, but on previous experiences with the restaurant. Friday evening, a group of friends went there to have dinner with one of our friends from out of town, who was in town for the weekend. We had an absolute nightmarish experience. Our reservation was for 7. We didn't leave there until 10. They were "short-staffed, had a lot of walk-ins, had 2 big parties, etc. They had a lot of excuses, but the service was abominable. The food was not up to its usual standards, either. There were high points -- the spinach and artichoke soup, the pork chop. The picatta dishes were just okay. The fish in the fish almondine was over battered, over fried and the almonds were just shy of burned. The salad was full of brown lettuce. They don't have a bartender so each server has to make the drinks for the tables that they are waiting and our waiter was usually no where to be found. We had to get up and ask, after waiting and waiting, when we might get our food. Same for drinks. We waited an hour before our appetizer order got taken. Ordered a bottle of wine to be informed they don't carry it; so, take it off the wine list then. When we selected another bottle, the waiter had to look and look and look for it. When he finally found it he uncorked it, but we had to pour it ourselves. It was too hot in the restaurant, too. Don't know why. Granted, at the end of the meal, the manager came and offered us an after dinner drink or a dessert, but we had already had dessert and it was late and we just wanted to get out of there. They did not comp the salad that wasn't eaten. They could have comped the desserts that had already been ordered, but they didn't. That said, I know things happen and we have had many pleasant meals there in the past and will probably go back, but it was a really bad night.
Everything was excellent, food. service and atmosphere. Ample servings. quality food, and reasonably priced.
