Ristorante Farfalla Ratings and Reviews
Outstanding place. Went for dinner with 7 family members but were in a bit of a time constraint on our end. The server overheard us talking about timing and was great, she asked the kitchen to move the food out at a pace that kept us on time but did not feel rushed.
Manager checked on us several times and all staff went out of their way to give us a great experience.
On top of that the food was quite good!
We were looking for a good locally owned Italian restaurant, so we wanted this to be a good experience. Our server was very friendly and helpful, but the food quality just wasn’t very good. My wife’s spinach and egg drop soup starter was very good as was my tre colore salad. My wife had Veal Marsala that had very little flavor though the potato side dish was good. I had the Bolognese pasta which bordered on terrible. It had essentially no sauce and it looked like a hamburger helper dish when the server brought it to the table. It was very bland and dry until the server brought out a small amount of some sort of tomato concoction the cooks heated briefly. It added moisture but was very bland as well. If these dishes were as intended this restaurant seems to be shooting for institutional quality.
So nice, we came back twice! An exciting high quality menu, very well executed. We had sweet delicious langoustines, tender veal chop, and off-the-chart crab ravioli - all were excellent. A pretty decent wine list, we had nice pairing with our dinner choices. Chef is assessable and friendly - I enjoyed watching the action behind the tables. This place is a gem!
I probably would choose to give everything 3.5 stars with the exception of maybe the service which was probably truly 4 stars, but I don't have that option here. Again, the service was very good. The menu was limited due to it being New Year's Eve, but there was sufficient variety. We started with the bisque and stuffed mushrooms. Both were good. For our main courses, we had the veal chop, lamb chops, seafood linguini and the lobster ravioli. All were good+. For dessert, we had the tiramisu, chocolate mousse and the crème brulee. All were good+. Most everything was better than good, but not 'incredibly amazing'. I thought the portions were adequate, but that the prices (that night) were maybe a tad on the high side (though it was New Year's Eve and I don't know how the prices that night compare with a normal dinner menu). I would 100% go back again for another try. If it were no better or less expensive the next time, it would still be a restaurant I keep on my 'short list'. It could however be one that was my go-to nice Italian restaurant for special occasions if it was just a tad better and/or less expensive on a normal night. If you're considering this restaurant, I would give it a go. One note: this is not probably a place for kids who are 'high-spirited' as it is a 'cozy' atmosphere and the place has more of an 'adult' feel to it. Our kids who are 7 and 10 were with us and prayed for and was rewarded with an exceptional night of behaving (which is not always the case).
Very disappointed in our recent visit on New Years Eve. The limited menu and quality and quantity of food very disappointing. The server, Matt was extremely inattentive. Besides the service being slow he never asked how meal was or if we wanted another glass of wine.
Farfalla lost a regular customer.
I was disappointed, having made the reservation in response to rave reviews in a local magazine. The food was just o.k. The restaurant's physical ambiance was great--cozy, warm lighting, & comfy chairs. But except for the host/hostess duo who welcomed us with big smiles and happy conversation, the staff seemed cold, unfriendly. Our server did smile at the end, which I appreciated, and wished us blessings (very much appreciated), but the aloof to sarcastic to outright gruff manner of the server, bus-er, and expediter (in that order) which had set the tone for our dinner was something I wish my family had not had to deal with. I like to give businesses a second chance, but with so many other, more welcoming restaurants around, I'm not sure I will in this case. What a difference a smile & kind conversation with guests can make!
We try to dine at Farfallah at least twice a month year round. Chef Michael and his amazing waitstaff make each visit a perfect evening. As we enter, I usually head for Michael in his open kitchen and after he greets me by name :"It's the Kirby!s", I ask "what are you proud of tonight?" He always brings out pieces of meat and fish he likes. Last night it was an amazing and generous portion of wild Norwegian Salmon. I chose that. Dawn liked the looks of the filet of beef in an original presentation. Ask for the muscles, the gorgonzola salad and a fine red wine..Relax and enjoy the leisurely pace, the beautiful room and the ambiance of great service (Doug or John or Emira). One does not "eat at Farfallah; one DINES at Farfallah and there is simply nothing like that experience within 20 miles. Congrats Chef Michael on your 19th anniversary at Farfallah.
Terrible service only one waiter and one chef. Waited over 45 minutes to get bread, Hour and a half for main course. Waiter poured wine like water so we had to go to second bottle before everyone even had chance to taste. Veal dishes poor and taste less for price. Also not hot as hot should be, once again one waiter one chef@
Had to ask for water refills, When waiter realized we were not satisfied, announced that tip was already added to bill, not giving us a choice after bad service. We were not told this in advance, so I was shocked that they did that at the end and this was on a $300 bill. Save your money, there must be better choices in town.
This was our first time at Ristorante Faralla. A few of us had the soup special which was lobster and shrimp bisque. Our server told us that it was lighter than a regular bisque. This was very true. Of the three that ordered this, I liked it the best. It tasted like a broth rather than a bisque. All of our entree's were delicious. Two had the lobster ravioli special pasta. Each of the diners enjoyed that selection. I had the fettucini bolognese and another had the steak dish on the menu. All of us enjoyed our food. We all enjoyed the dinner and would come back.
The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday evening.
We were on vacation and decided to try it out....Slow service, poor service, way overpriced, and we were overcharged. Sad that we had a bad experience after reading good reviews. Our story is too long to write down. However, when I mentioned it to a friend that lives nearby, she told me that years ago they had a terrible experience as well and have not been back.
