Ristorante Farfalla Ratings and Reviews
We try to dine at Farfallah at least twice a month year round. Chef Michael and his amazing waitstaff make each visit a perfect evening. As we enter, I usually head for Michael in his open kitchen and after he greets me by name :"It's the Kirby!s", I ask "what are you proud of tonight?" He always brings out pieces of meat and fish he likes. Last night it was an amazing and generous portion of wild Norwegian Salmon. I chose that. Dawn liked the looks of the filet of beef in an original presentation. Ask for the muscles, the gorgonzola salad and a fine red wine..Relax and enjoy the leisurely pace, the beautiful room and the ambiance of great service (Doug or John or Emira). One does not "eat at Farfallah; one DINES at Farfallah and there is simply nothing like that experience within 20 miles. Congrats Chef Michael on your 19th anniversary at Farfallah.
Terrible service only one waiter and one chef. Waited over 45 minutes to get bread, Hour and a half for main course. Waiter poured wine like water so we had to go to second bottle before everyone even had chance to taste. Veal dishes poor and taste less for price. Also not hot as hot should be, once again one waiter one chef@
Had to ask for water refills, When waiter realized we were not satisfied, announced that tip was already added to bill, not giving us a choice after bad service. We were not told this in advance, so I was shocked that they did that at the end and this was on a $300 bill. Save your money, there must be better choices in town.
This was our first time at Ristorante Faralla. A few of us had the soup special which was lobster and shrimp bisque. Our server told us that it was lighter than a regular bisque. This was very true. Of the three that ordered this, I liked it the best. It tasted like a broth rather than a bisque. All of our entree's were delicious. Two had the lobster ravioli special pasta. Each of the diners enjoyed that selection. I had the fettucini bolognese and another had the steak dish on the menu. All of us enjoyed our food. We all enjoyed the dinner and would come back.
The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday evening.
We were on vacation and decided to try it out....Slow service, poor service, way overpriced, and we were overcharged. Sad that we had a bad experience after reading good reviews. Our story is too long to write down. However, when I mentioned it to a friend that lives nearby, she told me that years ago they had a terrible experience as well and have not been back.
Location is at the end of a strip mall, but restaurant is tastefully designed.
Reservation best, limited seating. Appeared to be only one waiter, but
noticed two other women checking/conversing with the tables as well.
Excellent homemade pasta dishes and extensive menu. Highly recommend
a visit to Ristorante Farfalla. KathyM
We are relatively new to South Fort Myers and were looking for a non chain Italian eatery. We arrived early and there was only one other table with guests. The hostess asked if we had reservations, we did, but I was thinking, you're kidding right? That was a little concerning, but within the hour most tables were sat. Now I know why, the food is just that good.
I read the reviews before choosing this restaurant. The service was fine; our waitress was attentive. We had the burrata appetizer which I thought had a funny taste so didn't finish. We both had the fruta de mare which was quite salty. However the chef did accommodate our dietary restrictions without charging extra.
From the very moment we walked into the restaurant it felt awkward. The hostess was awkward and her greeting felt forced. The waiter assigned to us was a bit awkward too. I got the feeling that we were a bother. When the waiter was attending to another larger group his demeanor changed for the better. I guess when he sees a larger tip, his mood improves? When he returned to us he had a tone of "ok I'm here, let's get this over with". My wife ordered the Veal parmesan which she said was good. I had the Rigatoni Arrabiata which was also good. Neither dish was anything to write home about. We ordered a $9 Tiramisu dessert to share thinking it would be plenty for two people at that price. The portion brought to the table was more like a sample it was so small. I think we each had 2 bites before it was gone. And it was not even close to a good tiramisu that I've had at other restaurants.
The food was very good. Fresh ingredients. Nice presentation. But there was one one person in the front of the house, doing everything. Even with only 4 table to attend to, the service was slow. We were asked to order as soon as we sat down and again when we ordered our drinks and then again when we ordered appetizers. We came for a nice relaxing dinner not fast food. But when we wanted another drink the server had to be flagged down. Bottom line we felt rush to order but not attended to.
We were very disappointed in this restaurant. The place is beautifully decorated with white linen table clothes and the waiters are dressed in shirts and ties...very classy...but after that, everything was downhill. Three people in our group of 6 ordered the house pinot grigio and the wine had definitely gone bad. It was very dark in color when it arrived, which was not typical of pinot, and tasted terrible...undrinkable. we all tasted it and agreed on that without a doubt. My friends reordered an upgraded pinot that was fine. My husband ordered a Stella beer and the waiter came back and told us that the last Stella was just sold. They had run out. This was 6:00 pm!! And the restaurant was empty except for 2 other tables. Then the salads arrived. I had ordered a side salad that was supposed to be a special with spinach, strawberries and pine nuts. The pine nuts were rancid. . really really bad. I did not want to say anything to the waiter since we had just complained about the wine...so I just left it. I don't know how long those pine nuts had been around, but it must have been very long. . When the meals came, we asked for the grated cheese to be left at the table, but the waiter said that they only had 2 cheese containers (for the entire restaurant)...weird. My friend ordered seafood with pasta and it came withot the pasta. I ordered a mushroom pasta dish that was tasteless ...very disappointed. My husband oredered the salmon which he says was just OK. He did not care for the sauce that was on top of it. The restaurant was empty when we got there and also empty when we left, so that should have told us something, This was on a Wednesday in early April...
Anyway, it was too bad...This place could be a gold mine because the ambience is lovely, and the wait staff are very professional appearing, but the place needs to step up the bar and the food big time. Get fresh food! Maybe the chef was having a bad day...
We love this place. It has Chef Michael's signature all over it. Hugs at the door. A beautiful and warm dinning room. Then you are in the hands of Amira, or John, or Doug. Amazing waitstaff. John brings our favorite drinks as we are seated. A chat with Michael gives us a sense of what he is cooking tonight. He pulled a rack of veal out of the chiller and said, "I butchered this; look at this color." It was amazing. We relax and feel a sense of comfort and well-being because we are treated in such a special way. Before you head north to Michigan or Ohio or Boston, you must give Michael and his incredible staff a chance to serve you a beautiful dinner.
