Ristorante Farfalla Ratings and Reviews
I am seasonal to this area and was looking for new italian option. Went with a old friend and were seated quickly. Waiter went thru the specials and we had drinks in about 5 minutes and food came out perfectly timed. Food was very good as we both ordered different appetizers and main courses. Very comfortable environment and host was great. Will be going back!!!!
First, after reading several reviews of slow service we tried to speed up our order to not suffer like other previous customers. Our entree took 80 minutes to arrive. The taste of the food was OK, but nothing that justify such a delay. I had an angel hair with shrimp, while I was eating I felt something strange in my pasta. There was an elastic band inside my mouth. I call the waiter and the chef came to me and explained that this can happen because of the way they keep the pasta using elastics bands. Because of all of those huge mistakes they offered us free coffee. Please do not go this place. They are not professionals.
Great restaurant. Owner Mike is the chief and takes pride in each meal served. Farfalla has been open for 20 years. I fell in parking lot after arriving for dinner. Hostess saw me fall and immediately provided assistance and first aid. Still had great dinner as usual.
Service was extremely slow. it seems as though they could use more servers. my wife order pasta bolognese. it was hamburger over noodles. no sauce whatsoever. She asked for sauce and 10 minutes later the server cam out with it. She said everything is made to order. i find it hard to believe a bolognese sauce can be made in 10 minutes, unless it's Ragu. Any way Maitre d did finally come over. We questioned him as to is this the way this entre is supposed to be. He said he's only been there for 3 months and has never had it so he didn't know. But the waitress when my wife asked how was the the pasta Bolognese, she said it was their best seller. the table sitting next to us said it looked like hamburger helper over noodles.
The service was extremely slow. My dinner, Fetticine with meat sauce was terrible. It was extremely bland and dry. My friend's dinner which was the ravioli special was also unappetizing. I will not return there nor will I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Well prepared Italian cuisine, but incredibly slow service. Hard to determine whether the problem was the server or the kitchen. Waited 20 minutes for the salad and another 45 minutes for the entree. House was not busy. We were a party of 2 in room of no more than a dozen diners.
We love this place. However, our meal took forever to come out this week when we were there. The waitress was nice enough but we didn't get our salads till well after 30 minutes of ordering. And then our dinners took even longer then that. 2 of the 6 dinners were cool. The biggest issue we had was, they were not even that busy. It was later on a Monday night.
But in the end, we like the food so much, we'll still go back Im sure.
Service was exceptional from our initial greeting...to our waitress....
The black grouper was delicious. The vegetables served with the fish were amazing which is not always the case with dinners. The linguini with clam sauce was just okay..too many red pepper flakes. Overall it is a nice restaurant and we will go again.
Outstanding place. Went for dinner with 7 family members but were in a bit of a time constraint on our end. The server overheard us talking about timing and was great, she asked the kitchen to move the food out at a pace that kept us on time but did not feel rushed.
Manager checked on us several times and all staff went out of their way to give us a great experience.
On top of that the food was quite good!
We were looking for a good locally owned Italian restaurant, so we wanted this to be a good experience. Our server was very friendly and helpful, but the food quality just wasn’t very good. My wife’s spinach and egg drop soup starter was very good as was my tre colore salad. My wife had Veal Marsala that had very little flavor though the potato side dish was good. I had the Bolognese pasta which bordered on terrible. It had essentially no sauce and it looked like a hamburger helper dish when the server brought it to the table. It was very bland and dry until the server brought out a small amount of some sort of tomato concoction the cooks heated briefly. It added moisture but was very bland as well. If these dishes were as intended this restaurant seems to be shooting for institutional quality.
So nice, we came back twice! An exciting high quality menu, very well executed. We had sweet delicious langoustines, tender veal chop, and off-the-chart crab ravioli - all were excellent. A pretty decent wine list, we had nice pairing with our dinner choices. Chef is assessable and friendly - I enjoyed watching the action behind the tables. This place is a gem!
I probably would choose to give everything 3.5 stars with the exception of maybe the service which was probably truly 4 stars, but I don't have that option here. Again, the service was very good. The menu was limited due to it being New Year's Eve, but there was sufficient variety. We started with the bisque and stuffed mushrooms. Both were good. For our main courses, we had the veal chop, lamb chops, seafood linguini and the lobster ravioli. All were good+. For dessert, we had the tiramisu, chocolate mousse and the crème brulee. All were good+. Most everything was better than good, but not 'incredibly amazing'. I thought the portions were adequate, but that the prices (that night) were maybe a tad on the high side (though it was New Year's Eve and I don't know how the prices that night compare with a normal dinner menu). I would 100% go back again for another try. If it were no better or less expensive the next time, it would still be a restaurant I keep on my 'short list'. It could however be one that was my go-to nice Italian restaurant for special occasions if it was just a tad better and/or less expensive on a normal night. If you're considering this restaurant, I would give it a go. One note: this is not probably a place for kids who are 'high-spirited' as it is a 'cozy' atmosphere and the place has more of an 'adult' feel to it. Our kids who are 7 and 10 were with us and prayed for and was rewarded with an exceptional night of behaving (which is not always the case).
Very disappointed in our recent visit on New Years Eve. The limited menu and quality and quantity of food very disappointing. The server, Matt was extremely inattentive. Besides the service being slow he never asked how meal was or if we wanted another glass of wine.
Farfalla lost a regular customer.
I was disappointed, having made the reservation in response to rave reviews in a local magazine. The food was just o.k. The restaurant's physical ambiance was great--cozy, warm lighting, & comfy chairs. But except for the host/hostess duo who welcomed us with big smiles and happy conversation, the staff seemed cold, unfriendly. Our server did smile at the end, which I appreciated, and wished us blessings (very much appreciated), but the aloof to sarcastic to outright gruff manner of the server, bus-er, and expediter (in that order) which had set the tone for our dinner was something I wish my family had not had to deal with. I like to give businesses a second chance, but with so many other, more welcoming restaurants around, I'm not sure I will in this case. What a difference a smile & kind conversation with guests can make!
